Bucs Fall Into Tie For Third Place
November 6th, 2016It was a rough Sunday for everybody’s beloved 3-5 Buccaneers.
The Saints dropped 41 points on the 49ers and cruised to a 4-4 record. The Saints can’t play defense, but they can score on everybody. Next up for New Orleans is a date at home with the Broncos.
Carolina won its second straight game since losing 41-38 to the Saints. Today, Carolina toppled Los Angeles 13-10 on the road after taking a 10-0 lead. The Panthers were abused by the Rams’ smothering defensive line but prevailed. Joe watched a lot of the game.
The Panthers moved to 3-5 and they host the Chiefs next Sunday.
The Saints and Panthers square off Nov. 17 on Thursday Night Football.
Tampa Bay has finished last in the NFC South for five consecutive seasons, a conference record since the NFL-AFL merger.
If the Bucs want to avoid the cellar again, they best beat the Bears at home next Sunday. After that, the Bucs’ schedule gets brutal in a hurry.

At this point the standing and record mean nothing for this team. As long as they have a historically bad defense the common goal of making the playoffs and goong to the superbowl are a far fetched dream.
They are not just a bad defense, they shouldnt even be allowed to play in this league the way they have been performing. INDY has a bad defense and they just beat greenbay. Had that been us rodgers would have put up 6 tds.
Its over until something new begins. Soft conservative defense has drained the motivation right from the veins of this team and its fan base. Not looking for another win the reat of the season personally. What a waste of a 53 man roster

FIRE SMITH!
November 6th, 2016 at 9:27 pm
I was relieved there wasn’t a game today. Took a nice long nap. Did some reading.
First lazy day in months.
Love my Bucs, but glad I didn’t have to watch them today.

Errm, this young roster is still trying to feel its oats!

Do NOT fire Smith. You expect him to take a bad defense, add one starter in the draft and suddenly make it good????
The man need time and resources.

Bucs are headed for a 6th straight finish in the cellar I’m afraid. The other teams are rising…Bucs are free-falling.
November 6th, 2016 at 9:55 pm
I’m not for firing anyone….we must stick with our coaches for at least 3 years.
We do need a change of scheme on defense…..we need to blitz often and we need to jam receivers…….we can’t get worse with our pass defense…..we have very little to lose. We are being burn for big yardage with the current scheme.
As for the future…..quit investing in players who have injury…..purge our team…..we need to spend big in FA…..and I wouldn’t mind trading our #1 pick which will be high….for a couple of picks. We need multiple picks to help this team.

Bonzai
He made this defense worse and that’s hard considering we gave 70 percent on throws last year

You need to give the right guys 3 years to build. These 2 morons ain’t it. It’s a reason Koetter never got a head coaching gig after Arizona state. And Smitty hasnt had good defense since Jacksonville
November 6th, 2016 at 10:03 pm
Well said Kevin. Bucs’ standing is irrelevant at this point. Why is it other teams can change in a year (I.e. Vikings, Falcons, Eagles) yet Yucs maintain the same horrific defense year after year? The only one worth keeping on the defense is Kwon, everyone else is replaceable, starting with the DC, Mike Smith and GM.

Replaced the backstabbing G.M. and get someone who knows how to recognize talent.
November 6th, 2016 at 10:57 pm
Our problem isn’t the coaching staff. Team management has to give them something to work with if they expect us to be competitive. As a team, the Bucs continue to be the least talented in the NFC South by quite a bit. It’s taken years to fall this far (evidence 5 consecutive last-place finishes?) and it’ll take years to dig our way out. Since 2010, Bucs have had 50 draft selections in those 7 years. A total of 22 of those 50 are still on our roster, but almost half of those (10) came from the 2015 & 2016 drafts (as would be expected). We’ve missed on a ton of draft picks over those years, and simply can’t afford to do that anymore. Filling our roster with Undrafted Free Agents (UFAs) and cast-offs from other teams is not the way to win Super Bowls.

At this point the Bucs have a top pick in the draft again. It’s getting old.

Bears game might be the last winnable game of the year
November 6th, 2016 at 11:28 pm
Jason Licht, I hope you’re reading this because you should’ve made a move. This is literally Ryan Grigson-esque with how you expect Jameis to just do everything. IT IS A DISGRACE TO TAMPA BAY FANS THAT FREDDIE MARTINO IS TAKING UP ONE OF THE ACTIVE 53 ROSTER SPOTS. Like dear God you’re damn lucky that Mike Evans matured over this offseason and became a beast. Because him and Jameis are saving your ass. Braxton Miller instead of Aguayo sounds so good right now.
And I totally agree with everyone saying that other teams change within a year and we can’t. It’s because we refused to make a play for some big name free agents. Oh wow we got Ayers and Grimes. They have been valuable contributors but we better be riding guns heavy this offseason. I’m talking Eric Berry, Alshon Jeffery, etc.
Make a move Licht

Forget to add this. You draft Aguayo, know it’s a shady pick. And you do nothing to repay the fans who use their hard-earned money to come and watch games. You stand pat at the trade deadline…

But we’re a FIRST PLACE farm team for future Superbowl players and Broadcasting contenders! I mean look at us, and tonights example (of the many)….friggin Donald Penn is manhandling Von Miller!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wth!? And please, spare the excuses, Ive heard them all! But look at it! Is it the party scene down there and everyone’s too hung over to play good? (I’d hope that wasnt the case, just curious)
I swear, this curse is out of friggin control!!

News flash
No talent = no wins

iamkingsu Says
“Bonzai
He made this defense worse…”
How so? He may not have made the team better with his whole ONE STARTER DRAFTED FOR HIM thing, but he certainly has not made it worse.
This comes down to giving him the right weapons. Want him to get more sacks? Then give him weapons to get them with! Our secondary is improved over last year. Why? Because Licht dedicated resources to it.
Drafting a DE was great and all…but he isn’t a starter (yet). And the only Free Agent signed to start for defense that hasn’t been injured is Grimes…and all of the FAs have injury histories on a yearly basis!
You are giving Smith crap to work with, and expecting him to build a sand castle. Ain’t gonna happen, people.
November 7th, 2016 at 9:51 am
And already, fans are saying we need to draft a speedy WR in round 1 in the next draft. While WR is certainly a need, that means Smith gets robbed again.
There were two good young WR on the free agent market this past off season. Neither had injury histories. Both are having great seasons now. Jason Licht could have signed one of them and WR would not be an issue at all right now.
There will be a WR worth getting on free agency next year too…the question is, will Licht have the ability to spot him and sign him?

This is a sorry excuse for an NFL team. After that Oakland debaucle, I’m sick of watching them. We might not even win 6. I’ve seen no signs of this, Great pass rush we’ve been promised. Its truly both pitiful and sad. I was against Koetter and Smith being selected from the beginning. Tampa wanted him. Well, they got him. And now the losing..game after game. I don’t think Koetter will last. NExt time, I hope the Bucs thourougly search for a good coach. Instead of thinking..an offensive coordinator with no NFl HC experience can lead this franchise. Just watch the Bears…maul us!
