Blasting The Bears

There is unrest in Chicago after the Bears blew chunks against the Bucs.

There is unrest in Chicago after the Bears blew chunks against the Bucs.

This is so good Joe just had to share.

Rarely do Bucs fans leave the Den of Depression in a good mood. They did yesterday. And the following should further boost their spirits on this Victory Monday.

The Sears Tower is falling in the Windy City!

(Yes, Joe knows that iconic Chicago building is named something else these days. It will always be “The Sears Tower” to Joe, who damned near got mugged on the sidewalk right outside its front door one day.) Brad Biggs and Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune just take a jackhammer to the Bears in this Chicago Tribune video for shatting all over the field of the Den of Depression to the Bucs.

The duo, especially Biggs, is beside itself the Bears could sink to this level of getting blown out by the lowly Bucs, and blow a chance — they thought — of winning the NFC North.

It’s really fun to watch.

There’s a reality check for everyone. Tells you just what the rest of the league thinks of the Bucs. If a loss to them means that your team is in some sort of wild tailspin, that tells you that we’ve got a long climb ahead of us before we’re in the conversation with the respectable organizations.

  2. Chucklehead & The Slumpbusters Says:

The Bucs played well yesterday, but lets be real, they played the Bears. With 2 wins on the season (with or without Cutler) you should beat a team like that. Biggest kuddos goes to the Bucs for keeping the game face on and not imploding. Everyone here that watches Bucs football knows how quickly it can turn sour for us. And we have a history of falling to teams we should handle with ease.

  3. LakeLandBuc Says:

Let’s see the Bucs go to Arrowhead and beat down the Chiefs. Then they will get the respect of the league. Beating the Bad News Bears will get you no respect.

Completely agreed Patrick. I was very pleased with the Bucs effort yesterday and I truly hope yesterday is a sign of things to come in the 2nd half of the season (which is when real football starts). 🙂

Still, this video goes to show you that every other fan base in the NFL views the Bucs as an automatic ‘W’ and they’re stunned when it doesn’t work out that way.

  5. McBuc Says:

The Bucs only had one more win than the Bears, so I refuse to say it’s just the Bears. All wins in the NFL are legit and meaningful. People are so negative.

  6. Locked In Says:

Maybe if we beat a quality opponent a few times we’ll get something better than the two dummies who called the game on Fox. Terrible. I didn’t know Emmit Smith was still playing and on the Bucs roster.

  7. NewTampaChris Says:

The road to relevance begins with beating teams you should have a decent chance to beat. For any of you that watched Steelers-Cowboys or Seahawks-Pats, you know we’re not quite there yet.

  8. Louis Friend Says:

After the beatings the Bucs took at the hands of the Falcons and Raiders, I was a little surprised at how easily the Bears were beaten. I honestly figured the Bucs were toast due to the defense and the state of the offensive line. But it’s the NFL and every once in a while things don’t happen that you expect.

I’ll take this win as a sign the Bucs are above the lowest echelon of teams in the league. And I’ll enjoy it. Not much else can be said.

  9. Rod Munch Says:

Jay Cutler is always going to be Jay Cutler.

Also if Dotson isn’t holding on every other play the blowout is a lot worse. When Winston had time he found WRs, which must mean the Bears secondary is even worse than ours since in no other game have we had players running wide open like that.

  10. Mike Johnson Says:

Its only one win. Put together 3 or 4 in a row then maybe we got something. Put together 2 or 3 home wins and maybe you get the home crowd excited!

  11. Rod Munch Says:

Yeah I don’t see that home crowd showing up again this year regardless of the record. There’s zero chance I attend another game this year, which is alright since they’re televised anyways.

But for the Bucs the defense is terrible – and because of that I don’t think they have much of a chance versus good teams – as we’ve seen versus the Falcons and Raiders. The Bucs would have to outscore everyone to win and Dirk is too conservative to make that happen since I think you need to consistently score 40 points versus teams like the Saints to even have a chance.

We shall see but the defense is a major issue versus teams that aren’t starting 2nd string QBs – and the only two defensive games the team has had this year, at Carolina and yesterday, both were against 2nd string QBs, and in the case of Cutler that might be being generous.

  12. Rob Says:

Listening to the radio on the way into work this morning in Chicago… lots of talk about how awful Jay Cutler and the Bears are – no real credit given to Tampa. They seem to have concluded (maybe fairly) that the Bucs are a very bad football team, but that the Bears are even worse.

  13. IK Says:

Bucs are average to below average.
the talent on bath sides of the ball are just average and sadly that includes qb and coaching

Cutler single handedly lost the game

it is glorious to win but let’s not pretend we have a good team

I love our team and things can change quickly in the league but we just don’t have the talent to compete with better teams at this point in the season

  14. VeeJay24 Says:

Hello, they already beat the team that is in 1st place right now. And the Bears just beat the Vikings. It’s the NFL!!! Teams beat each other. Geez, I guess it is always comments from the peanut gallery. Never mind the team; I think the team’s fans are average to below average!!!!

  15. Duke Says:

    Chucklehead,

If the Bucs were favorites going into the game what you say would be relevant.
The fact is the Bears were picked to win this game outright by almost every single one of the many prognosticators. The win isn’t viewed by anyone outside the Tampa Bay area as anything but an upset.

I mean really by what stretch of the imagination can anyone possibly say the Bucs are the worst team, lead by an incompetent Coach, G.M. Ownership group that’s roster is devoid of talent and then after a win complain that the we’ve not beaten any team with a winning record (missed the Atlanta win I guess) or utter the nonsensical brain dead phrase “We’re supposed to win a game like this”. How in the blue hell can a team with all the deficiencies you’ve thankfully pointed out be expected to win ever. Just incredible the lengths some folks will go to drain the positive impact of a win.

The Bucs are below avg today. They can’t nor should they be expected to win against an upper tier opponent. Even if they upset the Chiefs, it doesn’t mean that they’ve turned the corner. Which is what your suggesting, beating a quality opponent like Atlanta didn’t change your tune nor did it mean that they’ve turned any corner. They are what they are and if you expect them to beat a team like Chicago then by definition your admitting that they’re not as bad as you have stated. Either way ………..you ain’t right. I’ll let you pick which is wrong.
