11 December Wins In 10 Years
November 30th, 2016Joe has been spotted trembling in a corner of One Buc Palace this afternoon.
A stunning stat was revealed to Joe at lunch. The Bucs have won just 11 December games in 10 years.
How is that possible? No wonder so many Bucs fans — too many — are in fear of what might be next after the Bucs’ huge wins against the Bears, Chiefs and Seahawks. December starts tomorrow.
That 11-37 record is the worst in the NFL during those 10 Decembers.
Real football starts in November, Lovie Smith used to say. Of course, that’s baloney. But mentally strong football teams play well in December. That’s reality.
Look what happened to the Bucs last year. They were 6-6 and rolling. And they had a home game against a subpar Saints team up next in Tampa — in December. Lavonte David and other players said the Bucs came out “flat.”
“Flat” was a common theme for the 2015 Bucs.
If the Bucs come out “flat” again this December, Joe will assure all readers that the ‘family” chatter churning through the Bucs locker room is nothing more than talk.

POP……<-sound of my hopeful bubble losing air. LOL
THIS YEAR WILL BE different. Go Bucs!!!!
November 30th, 2016 at 2:37 pm
The Bucs upcoming schedule features a lot of teams with losing records. But lets face it, these are literally all of the best teams with losing records. Chargers are better than that record and we have to go out west. I still consider that a winnable game. But beating the Saints twice and the Panthers with Cam will be tough. And the Cowboys are a great team, but I feel like they can be beaten. All in all though I expect the Bucs to end the year 9-7 or maybe even 8-8. then they will be a very trendy playoff pick with high expectations going into next year.

We are not off contenders. Stop up the team. I love this am, however they haven’t done anything in the last few years. Not contenders unless they make I there. That’s all folks

This ain’t the last few years. This is this year. Snap out of it. Expect more. We’re good.

@Joe
I don’t care or want to talk about that 10 years ago, Rah took over the defense during the week so Monte K could recruit high school kids for Tennessee!!!!!
I don’t care or want to talk about how mark dominik ran this franchise into the ground!!!!
I don’t care or want to talk about how coach my scheme took this franchise even further down to his basement!!!!!!!
The Bucs are going to SD chargers to punch someone in the mouth!!!! They are out to SHOW all the “analyst” wrong!!!!!!! Can’t Wait!!!!!!
Go America!!!!!!!!!!!!
And GO BUCS!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have been notoriously bad in December. Chargers are a notoriously good team in December. This game will be tough, but it is winnable.
Our team is going to have to come out even more fired up than they did against the Seahawks. Chargers have an excellent running game and Rivers is a pro, but can be prone to making bone-headed mistakes. I like the Bucs to get 2 INTs + 3 sacks this week.
Let’s make it 4 in a row! Why not? Why not us?

Dirk has 6 wins and we are not yet into the 4th quarter of our schedule, he also has never tasted last place as a NFL coach. Great Job Dirk!!!

Looks like I will have to add “JOE” to the writers not giving us much chance this weekend. Just read an article over on ESPN’s website making excuses for Seattle and that the Buc defense is not that good etc. Go ahead and think that world, I prefer we sneak up on people rather than have them ready and waiting. I have seen the change in the “Culture” Joe, I saw a team come out and FIGHT like I have not seen in years. You can see the difference, you can see the hunger, the focus, that has been lacking for years. Licht continues to add more pieces (Russell, Silger) but I believe we continue winning and we make some noise in this years playoffs. GO BUCS!!!!
Don’t be ridiculous. Joe gives the Bucs a hell of a chance Sunday. Very tough game, however. Chargers have punished some good teams this year. And like most teams, they play pretty well at home. –Joe

Simple: 5 games to play with 3 games to win to show improvement over the last years team!! 9 wins we should get there with some more strong defensive play!!
November 30th, 2016 at 3:48 pm
Lol @ “caust”.
You guys crack me up!

11 December wins in 10 years? We know what happened in 2008 (Gruden), Morris (2012), and 2014 (Schiano). And most of the rest of the seasons they were already out of contention. This is trying to put rotten apples with apples. Stop! This is NOW! Healthy team, upbeat, momentum, three division rivals…let’s go. Enough of that defeatist attitude.

Get your head out of your BigHogHaynes.

They really should be keeping all the family, culture, and turnaround talk to themselves. Those are media narratives. Hopefully, they stay focused on preparation and sticking together. I don’t think they’re going to go flat in December. Winning 4 out of 5 to get a wild card could be tough, but closing out with 3 of the last 5 would leave me feeling pretty decent about the season. At the same time, I don’t see any reason they should lose to SD, NO, or CAR… so I wanna hit 10-6. I’m OK if they lose to Dallas, even though the Cowturds are my most hated team.
November 30th, 2016 at 3:51 pm
Check my last…Morris 2011 and Schiano 2013 and Smith 2015.
Bottom line is they imploded…all due t coaching problems that started much earlier than December.
November 30th, 2016 at 3:52 pm
BigHog, regardless of the win total, this team passes the eye test over last years team. Also, we just need 1 win to show your “improvement”. 7>6.
November 30th, 2016 at 4:20 pm
If the pass rush keeps it up, they can beat anyone.
The offense needs to step up. They have healthy RBs back and the Oline is healthy. Sheppard and Humphries and Brate are enough opposite ME.
They should have had 25+ last eeek.
Come on O!

11 Wins in the past 10 Decembers is irrelevant Joe. I counted 32 guys on the active roster who signed on to the Bucs with Jameis or after (since start of 2015). About 1/3 of the roster wasn’t even here last year. This team could care less about what happened in the past 10 years. What they DO care about (hopefully) is where they are now and where they can get to this year … potentially 11-5. This is a much better team (and a much better-coached team) than any we’ve had in the past 10 years. Upcoming schedule is tough for sure, but that’s how we’ll all find out what these guys are really made of. Hang on; it’s gonna be a fun ride.

I think some of you so called fans come out “flat” way more than previous Bucs team did. It’s kinda like you are allergic to being positive or accepting we are building something special. C’mon man!
November 30th, 2016 at 4:37 pm
@ Dewey Selmon
You nailed it.
This team has many tangibles and intangibles that the previous versions didn’t.
GO BUCS!!!!
November 30th, 2016 at 6:29 pm
I agree. Forget about years past. This is now. They are playing great. Let’s keep it positive.
November 30th, 2016 at 8:05 pm
I fully expect them to win out the season; that includes Dallas, if (of course there’s an “if”) we can stay healthy.
November 30th, 2016 at 9:56 pm
Everyone knows the old Bucs in cold weather tale (until the freezing philadelphia nfc championship win. soooo sweet). Cold weather shouldn’t be a factor (except for the panthers).

I used to have charger season tickets (my company bought them, I’m NOT a chargers fan) up until 2 years ago. Let me tell you, the chargers at home are a tough team to beat. With that said, if the bucs can get pressure on rivers up the gut and start knocking him around, they have a very good chance of beating them. I’ve seen the Chargers give up big leads after halftime to the Broncos and Texans and those are just ones off the top of my head. I’m sure there’s more. If bucs can keep bosa out of the backfield, I think Jameis can sling the ball around on them. I’m really excited for this game and I will be there in person to watch the bucs get a W!
