Record-Busting Pace For Mike Evans
October 23rd, 2016Sit down for this one.
Mike Evans is on pace to tear down every single-season Buccaneers receiving record.
More specifically, Joe’s only talking about the big records right now, touchdowns, receptions and yards.
After today’s gutsy, two-touchdown performance in San Francisco, Evans has 40 catches for 545 yards and six touchdowns this season.
He’s on pace for 1,453 yards. That would break Mark Carrier’s single-season record of 1,422 yards in 1989.
Sixteen TDs? That would break the team record of 12, held by Evans himself (2014).
And as for the 106 catches, well, that would tie Keyshawn Johnson’s record mark in 2001.
The icing on the cake is Evans only has two drops, which puts him on pace for five this season. He’s also showed a lot of toughness bouncing back from absorbing a rib-cracking block while chasing down a 49ers defender in the first quarter today.
The Bucs also have very porous defenses remaining on their schedule, including the bumbling Saints twice.
Impressive stuff from Evans. Joe smelled this coming when Joe declared Evans the absolute winner of training camp back in August.

I’ve been impressed with Evans growth this year. Moken has done a fantastic job. I knew Evans would respond to qualified professional coaching this year. He’s never had a NFL wr coach prior to this season. Evans has improved every aspect of his game

He is the team MVP right now. Performance and maturity are both there. One of the top 3 receivers in the league right now at 23. Wow!!!

Yeah, great job ME13.
Let’s keep winning in our best uniforms too.
By far the best combo of them all.
Go Bucs!

The man is leading the league in receiving touchdowns with 6. Hes a beast we have never had a more dominant receiver. He has turned his game around 180 degrees from last year and now rarely drops a well thrown ball. If Winston is going to zero in on anybody it might as well be Mike.

I have been most impressed with his handling of his emotions and he seems tougher than last year

Yea…where’s the KY hands joke?
I said all offseason that was bull crap and that he would set every franchise record for a reciever. He’s a super star and he was treated like a piece of crap all offseason on here. For shame.

Imagine this offense the next 3, 5, 10 years once we get a stud No. 2 WR in place to complement Evans …. either via next year’s draft (preferred) or free agency. The O-line is coming along and – without taking anything away from Jacquizz – the RB position appears to be plug-and-play.

hasn’t been complaining about being held or begging for flags too. he’s really matured.

It wasn’t just his stats. It’s the fact every time I saw a meaningful 3rd down, JW was throwing a strike and M.E. was on the rceiving end. The 2 TD’s were stellar but the way he seemed to will himself open when we need him shows a heckuva lot of character and talent.

He is a good receiver and the only real one the Bucs have, so he will continue to have the opportunity to put up good numbers! We need a speedster, if anything it would help ME out and keep the defenses from double teaming.

@JOE get off his nuts. You were always talking $hit abound his hands. Now you’re jocking him. WTF.

Don’t know how the “KY” got dropped there DB.

Off topic, but … Catanzaro (Cardinals) and Hauschka (Seahawks) doing their best to make Aguayo feel good about himself tonight, ha …. both miss chip shot FGs in overtime that would have won their teams the game — 24 and 28 yards, respectively. Game ends in 6-6 tie, ouch.

Oh and Imo ME dropped 2 tonight. However if we look at this Picture, I want someone to tell me with a straight face when we were down 14 to 0 that we were gonna score 34 to 3 in the second half. Good things happening

@SB with Jameis. 2 drops by M.E? We were watching different games. I didn’t see any drops. Are you counting the long pass that M.E. turned the wrong way on it and didn’t get his hands on the ball?

[…] Evans could set a lot of team records this season. He’s already on pace for three. […]

I had a feeling Evans was going to have a strong season when he talked about the offseason work with Jameis and wanting to be the best QB/WR tandem in the league.
