If It’s Anderson, It’s Olsen.
October 7th, 2016Double duty this week for defensive coordinator Mike Smith, trying to plan for mega-athlete quarterback Cam Newton or backup Derek Anderson, who’s much more of a statue at 6-6 and 33 years old.
Joe hopes Smith is looking at the data and notes from BlackandBlueReview.com. Bill Voth explains that Anderson and stud tight end Greg Olsen have a long-standing pregame practice ritual that appears to bond them in games.
When Anderson has played, including last Sunday in Atlanta, 33 percent of his throws have been to Olsen. That’s attempts, not completions.
Through Newton’s career, he’s thrown to Olsen 22 percent of the time.
Bucs safety Bradley McDougald had success blanketing Olsen during the first Bucs-Panthers game last year. It’ll be interesting to see how Smith approaches the Pro Bowl tight end.
Lavonte David? McDougald? Kwon Alexander?
Somebody best be assigned to Olsen, considering how obvious it is the ball will be headed his way. Once upon a time, the Bucs drafted Mark Barron to cover the beastly tight ends of the NFC South.
Nowadays, Barron is among the NFL leaders in passes defensed with seven this season.

Haha karma is a mother ain’t it. They’re only busts until they leave Tampa and it’s hyper supportive base.

No Cam, Stewart or Oher ( possibly on all 3)…no problem! Carolina by 14. I can’t remember the last time Bucs won in Carolina ( will look it up now that I think of it ). I want to say the season they tanked for Cam to be taken # 1.

The Bucs actually won there in 2012…I remember it well now…the last hooray of Josh Freeman ( and Dallas Clark for that matter ). Overtime thriller…

What’s the plan to deal with Olson? It better be anybody but Conte!! If let Gholston play him 1 on 1 before Conte.

MJ, that’s funny!

No one needs their starter to beat us – sad state of this franchise.
October 7th, 2016 at 3:35 pm
Our offense will lead us to this win.
October 7th, 2016 at 3:49 pm
Is it weird that I am more afraid of Anderson than Cam, against our defense? Our defense always gets shredded against back up QBs. I honestly think we have a better shot at winning if Cam plays.
October 7th, 2016 at 4:41 pm
Ahh yes, Derek Anderson, the guy that shreds us every time Cam is hurt. Sorry to say it but I cant wait to see the press conference of excuses as to why he was able to throw for 300 plus yards and threw tds on tuesday.
No….I dont want that to happen, but its going to. And if it doesnt I will be the first one on here saying the defense looks improved. Highly doubt that will be happening though

Does it really matter what QB Bucs face? No heart, no depth, no clue, no coaching and no direction. Panthers by 17.
October 7th, 2016 at 7:45 pm
Bucs win??? Hahahahaha Panthers by 17 even with a 3rd stringer. Conte will get embarrassed again

@Mike Johnson, That was perfect! Very funny
