  1. Mike Johnson Says:

I am as confident in our Coaching staff as the wins they have produced. The record says we are 1-3 and about to become 1-4. If you are confident in that record, then you should check out a shrink under your insurance plan. Nobody feels sorry for these coaches. Tampa Bay begged for him as he sat back in his comfortable Offensive coordinator job. He should have stayed there. Because the Heat..is just starting for him. Fix the pirate ship or walk the plank like the other have. No excuses. No pity. And Just..us for all!

  2. Waterboy Says:

No waivering for me at this point I’m still as confident as I was all off-season and more than likely will be throughout the season.

  3. WelshBuc87 Says:

Can you do one of these on Winston too?

  4. Lue88 Says:

That’s the problem with the bucs always wanting to change coaches. Can we let this team grow as well as the coaching staff?

  5. Joe Says:

That’s the problem with the bucs always wanting to change coaches. Can we let this team grow as well as the coaching staff?

That’s a lame argument fronted by the Lovie Mafia. Get good players and coach ’em up. It’s proven an NFL team does not need to “grow” to turn things around. Can be done in two years.

There were teams worse than the Bucs that hired new coaches same time as Lovie was hired and those teams have made the playoffs since.

In a league built on parity and quick turnarounds, if a team gets worse with a new coach than better, that’s on the football side of the team, not the ownership (unless the ownership picks a bad coach).

  6. D-Rome Says:

You bring up a good point that is worth mentioning. I recall years ago someone talking about Charlie Weiss and Romeo Crennel. See, Weiss and Crennel were huge parts in the Patriots first three Super Bowl victories as offensive and defensive coordinators respectively. Both guys have failed as head coaches ever since they left New England. The reason why? Well, this former player (I can’t remember who) stated that there are some coaches out there who are “dark room guys”. They’re great at breaking down film and coming up with a game plan on one side of the football. However, they aren’t suited for the head coaching job.

I don’t know if Dirk is a “dark room guy”. It’s too early to tell. I think Monte Kiffin *knew* he was a dark room guy. Odd he didn’t strongly pursue a head coaching job. Rod Marinelli? Dark room guy. Josh McDaniels in New England? Dark room guy. He’ll get another HC job but he’ll fail. This is the same guy who thought Tim Tebow was a good first round pick.

  7. D-Rome Says:

There were teams worse than the Bucs that hired new coaches same time as Lovie was hired and those teams have made the playoffs since.

For those who may not know those teams are the Washington Redskins (Jay Gruden) and Houston Texans (Bill O’Brien).

  8. Mike Johnson Says:

You’re dead wrong Joe. its not a lame argument. Of course as you can see, its been proven we change coaches to often. Just review our sorry record (s). Other teams keep coaches and eventually flourish. Not us, we dump’em after 2. You say, can be done in 2yrs? Well, we certainly cannot/havenot done it now have we? I do think national sportswriters and the like are correct about Tampa Bay. its locals like you..who believe we are doing things the right way.
Like I’ve said, No pity for this regime. Get her done. or leave like we have done the rest. You and your fans screamed Dirk. Well, you got him..and yet another losing season.

  9. LargoBuc Says:

This is not a well coached team right now. Koetter may not have years to right this, more like weeks, as those before him. Wether you’re a veteran head coach or a rookie head coach is irrelevant. It’s produce or go home.
I do however think Koetter has a great chance to turn this thing around on national television. Lets go Bucs! Im so sick of the neverending turnover.

  10. Eric Says:

Demanding quick turnarounds and firing guys like Gruden and Dungy are precisely why we are in this disastrous position.

Its a loser mentality and the solid teams never do it that way.

    Steelers Packers etc.

How often do they fire coaches.

Loser franchises like us and the Browns do it all the time.

  11. DHoft Says:

Lovie was a head coach in the NFL for almost a decade. For Koetter, this is his first head coaching gig in the NFL. It’s not really a fare comparison of what can be expected of each in terms of timeframe for a turnaround. Give him time. After a couple years if there is no growth….then lets worry.

  12. 813bucboi Says:

    no confidence….

@mike Johnson…I agree with everything you said….its funny how now that dirk is at the helm everyone wants to preach time….where was that last year?….licht and the glazers never gave lovie enough time to fix the defense….now everyone wants to talk about talent….that was the same problem we had last year but all everyone wanted to talk about was cover2….BS…your right…no pity party for this staff….lose vs. Carolina and the fire dirk campaign will begin….he was here last year so their is no reason this team should be regressing….GO BUCS!!!

  13. 813bucboi Says:

@Joe says….In a league built on parity and quick turnarounds, if a team gets worse with a new coach than better, that’s on the football side of the team, not the ownership (unless the ownership picks a bad coach)….

lovie improved after his first year but was still canned….if dirk only manages to win 4games this year, with our franchise qb regressing, why should he be retained….as you’ve stated it only takes a year or 2 to turn this thing around….the smart thing to do would be to cut ties early….GO BUCS!!!!

  14. Eric Says:

    I agree 813.

Lovie should not have been fired. But that is done so Dirk has to be given time.

Its been tough but we’ve actually achieved. Cleveland Browns South status.

    Way to go Glazers.

  15. Architek Says:

When are we gonna hold these losing mentality players accountable and stop firing coaches.

  16. Stpetebucsfan Says:

Did any team have a tougher schedule to start the season? Seriously!

Turns out the Falcons are actually pretty good..as are the Rams…The Cards may be a bit off but Denver!!!!! Carolina on the road!

This is a very young team especially at critical positions…QB and MLB..our OL was cobbled together last year again with two rookies and a low round draft pick.

We have had our share of injuries.

You can call all of that excuses and just ignore those facts and call for the coach or QB’s head. Those are historically the places where praise and fault end up.

Again…I think I’ll wait and see how the season plays out after the bye. We’ll have some players with 3-5 weeks of rest by then. The players and staff have either been forged by this trying start…or they’ll fall apart. I’m for at least waiting to see if the team has enough character to rebound.

  17. 813bucboi Says:

@dhoft…..dirk has been in the nfl for over a decade….he knows the nfl….he’s been apart of numerous teams and he knows how things are ran….at the time of the hire everyone from players to the media to people at one buc place all said he carried himself as a head coach….now he’s finding out that everything that glitters aint gold….

the tougher schedule excuse is so lame….last year we faced 3 playoff teams….this year we face 5 from last year with 2 of those teams (Carolina and Arizona both 1-3 looking like they may miss the cut this year….that only leaves seattle, Denver and KC….no excuses for this staff….GO BUCS!!!!

  18. The Buc Realist Says:

Not only is the schedule ultra tough, But this staff will get time!!!! People in the know that the cleanup after coach my scheme is still ongoing in Chicago!!!!! So lucky that he only did two years of damage here!!!!!

Still very confident!!!!! Because you can see that they are starting to do the little things!!! Changing the culture does not happen in meetings after the incompetent one!!!! Another year in the system and another good draft will have the bandwagon fans and sheep looking at this team differently!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!

  19. DB55 Says:

    DRome

Don’t forget Zimmer and the Vikings.

  20. Stpetebucsfan Says:

    813 Bucboi

I normally am not a big strength of schedule guy because the schedule as you pointed out does average out over the course of a season.

As you yourself last year we faced three playoffs teams…ALL SEASON!!!

This year we have faced both Super Bowl teams (or will after the game against Carolina) as well as a team that finished in the top four and is considered a SB contender…all in the first five games.

I can only say Bucboi you are as negative of a poster as exists here at JBF.
You see a half full glass as being totally dry.

If the Bucs play well after the bye please don’t try and horn your way back onto the bandwagon.

But look at the bright side…if you are correct..the Bucs suck and they’ll finish with 5-6 wins which will then allow you to come here and boast about your football expertise…and surely that is more important than rooting for your team.

  21. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Still confident here but losing confidence in licht and his inability to judge talent in ANY FA signing he has had since he got here and not being able to evaluate that the bucs are ridiculously deficient at DB, WR and DE…so not addressing those pressing needs puts licht at the D- category

  22. The Buc Realist Says:

    @Stpetebucfan

He is just reading his script from their “agenda”!!!!!

  23. D-Rome Says:

Still confident here but losing confidence in licht and his inability to judge talent in ANY FA signing he has had since he got here

If Joe and others believes it should only take two years to turn around a franchise then what’s Licht’s excuse? This is year three. His track record is not looking very good at all especially in the free agency department. He hasn’t been much better than Mark Dominik.

  24. Eric Says:

Oh waaaaaaaaaaaaaa our schedule is tough.

    My God we are Cleveland.

  25. Owlykat Says:

We all knew the schedule was stacked against us the first quarter of the season, and that was before a slew of injuries. We also knew it would take another good draft before we would be really good. When we hit the easier part of the schedule and better weather, we hopefully can start building momentum for next year. Even Dungy with a lighter schedule his first job building up the Bucs, blew up the first half of the season and then turned the momentum and the Bucs around!

Guess I’m part of the “Mafia,” huh Joe? Bull crap. Gruden was canned-good riddance-in 2009 according to some of the word on here. No matter. Even if it was 2007, you are still dealing with Gruden, Morris, Schiano, Lovie and now, DK as HCs. That is beyond nutts regarding instability. How long you dudes been Bucs fans?

  27. Buc'n Enough Says:

    Licht is Dominick 2.0…

He has wiffed on two second round draft picks..
Kicker = was not a position of need for this team.
ASJ= Poor interviewing or vetting of guy that has some demons.

Simms should have not been a third round draft choice when this team needed way more than a running back at the time.

And this year we drafted a guy in the fourth rounder Ryan Smith who has yet to sniff the field. He was a DB in college and they though the could play safety..well, the guys they have playing safety are not getting it done, so why hasn’t this guy seen the field.

Toss in all the free agent whiffs and Licht has not improved the team talent or depth.

So year 3 and same results…I would say clock needs to be on Lichts future with this team.

  28. 813bucboi Says:

@stpetebucsfan….the truth hurts huh?……..everything I post on jbf are facts…I will in return say that you are just as clueless as @realist….GO BUCS!!!

  29. Mike Johnson Says:

Dungy should have never been fired. Neither Gruden. I still say Schiano should have had another year as Lovie should have. I’m not buying this..other teams have done it in 2 crap. That’s just a copout. Why do you guys think parcels made the demand of total control of the Bucs before coaching here? He knew the sorry state of Tampa and its ownership. Other teams are winning with 3rd thry 7th rd picks at QB. And 3 or 4 of’em have doubled down on Defensive free agents and picks. Like I’ve said, there’s a reason Arthur Blanks fired Smith in ATL. You..figure it out.

  30. RustyRhino Says:

Hey Buc Enough “Ryan Smith who has yet to sniff the field” Who was our kickoff returner who had 27 yard on two returns. That would be R. Smith, that beingm Ryan Smith who made sniffed the field several times.
    Buc Enough!

  31. BigStinky Says:

How about a confidence poll on Jameis Winston?

  32. Not there yet Says:

You got it all wrong joebucs this should be a Jason licht confidence poll. He’s failed to add talent this year and the injuries exposed the Luxury pick he made in the second round. Coaches coach players play and its the players making an ass of themselves on gameday.

  33. Buc1987 Says:

Without Dungy being firrd there’s no Gruden.

Just to point that out, seeing how I see so many morons saying neither should have been fired.

bucboi is wrong and is agenda driven for all to see.

  34. cometowin2 Says:

Lost a lot of respect for Coach Koetter. He quit on his team. He hit the nail on the head when he said he is the one that has to fix the culture. Not the way to fix it, coach. I’m going to try to not quit on you and start thinking about the draft and a new head coach that doesn’t quit on his team and the fans.

Despite how I was feeling on Sunday, see above, am still confident but down from very confident.

  35. Buc'n Enough Says:

    Hey Rusty Rhino,

So we drafted a cornerback / safety that can return kicks for an avg of 13.5 yeards..

    Licht = Genius?

  36. Bucsfan73 Says:

Have to agree with those who say Licht is more in need of a confidence check. The Bucs are still just an average football team. They lack depth and talent on both sides of the ball. Those that thought this team was ready to take the next step and become a playoff team are/were delusional. I understand Jamie’s is a special talent, but he is young and does not have enough weapons. There is nothing Dirk can do about any of that.
