“You Guys Are Going To Bring It Now”
September 16th, 2016A day before his head coach talked about seeing a barrage of blitzes from the Cardinals, general manager Jason Licht said the same thing.
Licht hopped on 98.7FM in Arizona yesterday and told the hosts, “You guys are going to bring now,” when speaking of the Cardinals’ defense and expectations for Sunday.
That warmed the hearts of the Arizona media types, who said they were surprised by the Cardinals’ lack of aggression against the Patriots last Sunday.
This morning at One Buc Palace, Dirk Koetter was clear that he expects heavy pressure coming at America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, specifying that it would be more than Atlanta offered.
“I think they’ll try to heat Jameis up a little bit,” Koetter said.
Licht praised Jameis for side-stepping rushers in Atlanta and he was clear that the cleanliness of the pocket Jameis saw in the Georgia Dome can’t be expected every week.
Joe’s hoping the Cardinal’s attack mode opens up more opportunities for Charles Sims in the screen game, and more home run shots for Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson. They should be seeing their share of 1-on-1 coverage.
Austin Seferian-Jenkins, of course, has the potential to be a nice giant target on short, safe stuff over the middle.

I welcome this.

We need VJAX to have a monster game along with the muscle hamster if we have any shot at beating a very good cardinals teams
September 16th, 2016 at 2:48 pm
VJax and ADJ and Simms should all do well if JW has a second to find them. I expect Evans to have Peterson on him all game, not that he won’t get some, but don’t force it. They have a lot of weapons.

Screens a perfect way to slow down the rush
September 16th, 2016 at 2:54 pm
I’m with you NoSBoS … “I welcome this”. Blitzing a lot can work great for a defense if the other team doesn’t respond right … or it can get you eaten alive if your opponent counters well. We can be sure that Koetter and Jameis won’t allow the Cardinals to blitz a whole bunch without making them pay the price. Bucs OLine has been very stout and Jameis has enough weapons to give the Cardinals fits.

Just PLEASE protect the football this week JW. Short passes on our side of the 50 yard line so they don’t get picked off. Hope we can run the ball better than we did last week too. Screen passes and slant patterns on 3rd & 5 this week should help us keep the chains moving. Don’t think I saw 1 slant last week on 3rd down which is odd to me. Just win is ALL that I ask for.
September 16th, 2016 at 3:31 pm
It will be interesting to see how Jameis handles the blitz in year #2. He definitely struggled quite a bit against the blitz in year 1, but so does every rookie. Hopefully he has grown as much as we all think he has and he has another monster game.
September 16th, 2016 at 3:36 pm
Game plan baby so we can “just win”! If we figure they’re gonna blitz a lot then have a game plan for it. We have the weapons to make them pay for going all blitzkrieg on us.
September 16th, 2016 at 3:44 pm
Couldn’t agree more about the screens, Tampa Tony, and Sims might be the most dangerous receiver out of the backfield in the league. I’d bet we see a lot of him and “Rudy” Humphries out of the gate with screens and underneath stuff. Hope it opens up the big gainers to the big guns later in the game.
September 16th, 2016 at 3:47 pm
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUK them and their blitz. THE MESSIAH will be prepared.
September 16th, 2016 at 3:51 pm
Go Bucs!!!! Throw them Cards around like a game of 52 pick up.
September 16th, 2016 at 4:25 pm
So, what do we really know going into this week? We beat the Falcons in Atlanta and the Patriots without Brady and Gronk, barely beat the Cards in Arizona. That is what we do know. How good or bad the Falcons, Patriots and Cards are going to be this season is still unclear. Hopefully the Falcons are a middle of the pack team and we have transformed into a playoff contender. We will know a bit more after week 2. I believe the Pats and Cards are both playoff caliber teams again. I believe we can get a victory if we play well in all phases of the game. I do not look at the Cards as a guaranteed loss right now as I may have when the schedule came out. It feels pretty damn good to have hope for a win for a change. Thank you Jameis!!!! Yep it is all about Jameis putting this team on the map again. IMHO, Jameis already is the best QB (Overall) in the NFC South. Sure Newton is pretty talented but he is not even on the same field as Jameis when it comes to areas other than the physical duties of an NFL QB. Brees is pretty good too but again, I believe Jameis will prove this season to be the class of NFC South QB’s and considering the talent level of those QB’s, that is saying a lot. I mean, I believe that Winston will have the most successful NFL career when it is all said and done than Newton, Brees or Ryan. Of course, much improved coaching can’t be overlooked either because had we of had competent coaching last season, we probably would have been a n 8-8 team and talking about being a playoff contender this year. So, do I believe we can make the playoffs this season? Sure do. Why not?

I saw an article last year about how JW was among the league’s best at handling the blitz. I am confident the offense can handle the challenge
September 16th, 2016 at 5:05 pm
rayjay1122.. I expect to see some 52 pick up plays. Just throw it all out there.
September 16th, 2016 at 5:35 pm
JW was not sacked against Atlanta, but there were a lot of close calls, hurries, and hits. This was confirmed by an interview with Marpet: “Obviously, that’s a goal of ours – to not give up a sack – but Jameis [Winston] was hit a few times,” Marpet said. “He was hit five times, and that’s too much for us. Even though he wasn’t sacked, he was hit, and that’s too much. We can play better.” Please protect our asset! Don’t keep me busy giving a prognosis.

49 to 15 last cards defeat in 2015. Season opener lost to a back up in 2016. Look its one thing for us to have lost to a few back up over the years(we didn’t have a Famous) but these boys along wit carolina to have lost openers to back ups is in my opinion a big deal. Why??? Because by in large across the league these two outfits are considered contenders. This is a zero pressure game for us,I expect us be loose and simply win the d@$! game.

OMG-please protect our asset.. Its call football man. Translation “somebody gone sooner or later hit yo @$$”.
September 16th, 2016 at 7:43 pm
I need ASJ to be a Monster on Sunday because I am starting him against the Cards.

Run it right down their throat !!!
September 16th, 2016 at 8:13 pm
What are we running down their throat Luv? Jameis’ “elongated arc”?
September 16th, 2016 at 8:19 pm
When you have a team – that’s banged up like Arizona.
You’ve gotta – wear’em the f#%K out. By being more involved in the running game.
September 16th, 2016 at 8:22 pm
SB with Jameis
Lol – nice stab
September 16th, 2016 at 8:47 pm
They better sit back and play coverage. Jameis is going to shred them if they bring the heat.

Cant wait 4 this….could u imagine the shockwave we’re about to send across the NFL landscape. This bout to b epic
September 17th, 2016 at 2:33 am
This reminds me of 1997 when we were christening Raymond James Stadium and the 49ers were coming in week 1. The Bucs were looked at as a team that was up and coming, but we’re suppose to be a year away.
Exactly how the media perceive us now. The 49ers had Rice, Young, etc..
We were led by Nickerson, Sapp, Brooks, Lynch, (cough, cough) Dilfer, etc…
The Bucs had nothing to lose. We were supposed to be a year away.
We punched the 49ers in the mouth!!! Sapp put Young out of the game. Donnie Abraham and Ronde Barber shut down Rice and the rest as we won the game. It was our coming out party.
Why not us? Why not now??!!!
