“Mr. Reliable”
September 9th, 2016It seemed only hours after training camp began this summer when Bucs coach Dirk Koetter knighted Adam (Rudy) Humphries as the team’s No. 3 receiver.
A big step up from being a guy who the team cut last year (and later brought back).
That is the headway Humphries has made. Of course, he likely wouldn’t be the No. 3 receiver if his teammates didn’t trust him.
Yesterday, veteran Vincent Jackson talked about how Humphries has gone from a nobody to a somebody in a matter of months.
“Adam is a hard-working kid,” Jackson said. “He’s the type of guy that’s very coachable, he’s taking all the training that our assistant coaches are working with him on. Whatever we ask him to do, he’s able to do. He’s one of those guys [where] Jameis calls him ‘Mr. Reliable.’ He’s just that nice, safe, go-to guy [when] you need those crucial yards in the middle of the field.
“[Humphries] has been a great asset to us and obviously a great find. Hats off to our staff for finding such a talented player, kind of unknown coming out of college.”
With the naked eye, Humphries looks like a different player. Last year, he looked so out of place and at times played out of place. Remember, targeted on the first NFL pass attempt by America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, Humphries ran the wrong route and it was returned for a pick-six by Tennessee.
At least we know Humphries can return a punt. And he seems to be a solid slot receiver.
If nothing else, Humphries appears to have developed into a dependable receiver.
Yes, reliable, too.

It’s easy to support a hard worker. All the best, Adam! Can he stave off the two newest receivers?

Just wanted to say one year ago this guy was being talked about as he was fighting for a roster spot and the Lovie Squad released him and later picked him up. If you read the thread from that story you will see me stating that this guy is an asset and will contribute in a big way. Glad to see him locking up a spot here!

Rudy did not run the wrong pass route on that first pass. The corner made a good play and/or Jameis made a poor decision. Jameis can’t do anything wrong in Joe’s eyes.

Somewhere in North Cackalacky My Guy – MadMax is smiling.
Be Ups for speaking highly of this kid – since the beginning

I attended a training camp practice last season and felt the kid looked good but would not make it. Speed is great but having good hands is also needed. Seems like he finds a way to get the job done. Looking forward to Hump having a productive season.

3rd in HUMP

Been a fan of the Hump from the get-go. He’s not afraid to catch balls thrown over the middle (and hang on to them). That’s always been a rough patch to play for WRs and even a few TEs. Now, get another guy to do PRs. Hump is too valuable a WR. Go MIGHTY BUCS on Sunday, 9/11!! 🙂

Can’t stump the Hump!

we had a patience with a player, Joe…patience can pay-off.

I like Hump also, although I don’t see him as the punt return guy going forward.

I think Humphries is the “Muscle Hampster!” Dudes jacked!

Anyone remember Ike Hilliard?
Could Adam become like him?

I think Hump is a bit more talented than Rudy, 4.49-4.5 guy, 10 foot broad jump. Caught 40 passes on a team that had Sammy Watkins, Martavious Bryant and Deandre Hopkins. The Rudy monicker just seems insulting.

Love the man. He just came in last yr and put his wotk ethic to the grind. Proof
if you work hard and really want it, you can go get it!

Humphries was reliable last year too. The only times I remember him messing up were the aforementioned pick six and when he failed to catch what would have been Jameis’ record breaking 6th TD pass in Philly.
