The Mighty Take Big Falls

September 20th, 2016
Never forget.

Never forget.

Man, life in the NFL.

Riding high on the hog one week. Seven days later? Hot garbage.

Not only did the Bucs experienced the highs of the NFL, but the lows too. That’s what happens when you win a divisional road game one week and shat your pants in front of a bunch of hot chicks at a barbecue like the Bucs did in Arizona the next.

And no one took a bigger tumble than America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston. Against the Dixie Chicks he was NFC Offensive Player of the Week. Against the Cardinals, Jameis turned into Brian Hoyer.

This was not lost on Brett Smiley of FOX Sports who spanked Jameis for having such a putrid game.

The Arizona Cardinals enjoyed a pretty hearty get well game against the visiting Buccaneers. Arizona kept the heat on Winston all game and forced him to throw under pressure on nearly half of his 55 dropbacks. Winston looked uncomfortable (as one might expect with large men repeatedly bearing down on him) and threw four interceptions, plus he lost a fumble. The turnovers resulted in 17 points for the Cardinals. It was a very forgettable and inaccurate day for Week 1’s NFC Offensive Player of the Week.

Joe isn’t sure exactly how forgettable that game was, or should be. Jameis, and the entire team, should be forced to watch tape of that game in the hours before the rest of the remaining 14 games this season.

Some fans, Joe has read, suggest the digital copy of that game should be destroyed. No, Joe’s of the mind that the tape should be branded into each and every player’s hard drive.

Yet not one of those INTS were his fault. Neither was the fumble. And NOSBOS IS RIGHT the game is rigged.

    @Joe

I know you’re more partial to the AC/DC youtube videos but I’m an old dude and I know the PERFECT song to describe this thread.

All verses are great but the second is spot on today!!!

I said, that’s life (that’s life) and as funny as it may seem
    Some people get their kicks
    Stompin’ on a dream

But I don’t let it, let it get me down
‘Cause this fine old world it keeps spinnin’ around

Emphasis is mine! Not directed at Joe but some of the posters here and you KNOW who you are.

well if your gonna sell the game is rigged ypu have to start with the facts. Such as…. Super Soldier Programs and Transhumanisim. Which would allow more easily the manchurian candidate factor. Which would be a sligh way to use the tech honestly. As for us “regulars”, what do you expect people to do with such powers other than rig sports. Its all good cause next week when we win we will forget we ever learned such things really do exist. Truth is stranger then fiction no doubt!

Kinda like JW being a Player of the week last week vs this week. The fiction is he was the best player in the league last week. The truth is he’s lucky he didnt get burned by a late come back by ATL cause he was just as off both weeks.

JW needs to worry about his game till the bye week or else he is gonna put this team in the tank the rest of the season with his poor play…. Let the other MEN be men and worry about you JW.

  4. DB55 Says:

    ST Pete

    I don’t it get.

  5. anthony r Says:

Dont worry St Pete. I get it. Completely agree. Joe will have to stare at it longer.

    I got it St Pete!!!

On that note, I am done reading all negative articles about the last game..on to the next…

Bucs have been stomping on the dream for 15 years now. It’s beyond the realm of being cynical. This team was too full of themselves after a win? One win against a team we swept even the glorious year of Lovie? You have to show me you’ve turned the corner as a team, show me that you’re a franchise QB that supposedly has learned from his mistakes of forcing the ball and getting ints when you surely haven’t. 40 years of being a Buc fan has taught me to be cautious with this team. It must be nice to just accept losing like you have clearly done ST Pete. And to bash people who have real emotion for this team. I haven’t really bashed people in here until recently when some of you question the loyalty of those who are rightfully cynical of this team.

  8. Buccfan37 Says:

Ditty for the Cardinals, these Bucs are made for walking, and that’s just what they’ll do. One of these days these Bucs are gonna walk all over you. Ready Bucs, start walking.

St. Pete, I’m glad the season ends before July.

  11. Stpetebucsfan Says:

    @DB55

Well Frank Sinatra is a stretch on this blog..dad rock aficionados is funny!

Many did not go to the link and it takes a while to get past the intro.

I should have included the first verse as well so it would have perhaps made better sense.

That’s life (that’s life) that’s what people say
    You’re riding high in April
    Shot down in May
But I know I’m gonna change that tune
When I’m back on top, back on top in June

Nobody is happy with losing. Dreams are not about the past but the future.

If you’ve let our past decade of futility cloud your future so greatly then I simply feel sorry for you. A person without dreams is a person without hope.

We only have this moment. You all can use the horrible past as long as you wish for as much as you wish. I choose to move on and follow my dreams. This year I dream of ten wins.

There are basically only three things that can happen this year factually.
1.) We can suck out loud as we have for the past decade.

2.) We can become mediocre…better than #1 at least

3.) We can actually improve and win ten games.

NOBODY knows which will happen. Given that any of those three is literally possible…why do so many of you choose to focus on failure instead of dreams.

Doesn’t upset me…everybody has a right to their opinion or what they wish to focus on…But I can GUARANTEE you that the good news is that our QB is NOT dwelling in the past.

If you let the past define you why even bother? Seriously. That’s just hopeless.

  12. DB55 Says:

    Got it.

  13. SOEbuc Says:

OK JOE AND OTHER BUCS FANS. IT’S TUESDAY SO LET’S FOCUS ON THE HOME OPENER AGAINST THE RAMS. HOPEFULLY WE LEARNED A LOT BY THIS PREVIOUS WHIPPING. LET’S FOLLOW JAMEIS AND DIRK’S MOTTO OF TAKING IT WEEK BY WEEK. GO BUCS!!!!

  14. Destro44 Says:

I’m assuming Brett Smiley didn’t watch the game. He looked at the start sheet and made up his assessment. This would lead you to believe we never moved the ball, that the interceptions were a result of pressure, when only the second pick could be attributed to pressure. Oh and it sounds like the Cards D striped Winston. I guess I missed them signing Chuck Sims. We played a lousy game and they played a good game and got a lot of breaks that equals the ugly start sheet. The garbage that people pad of as journalism these days.

  15. dabucs Says:

As simple as it may sound.the only teams that could stop the Bucs are teams with A corner like Patrick Peterson. now you tell me how many teams we play the rest year that got a corner like pat p on they squad.. il wait..just chill.. we gone be alright

  16. Warrenfb12 Says:

Again, I didn’t see the pressure as a major issue. For the most part, it was picked up pretty well. I think Jameis just wasnt accurate enough. He throws an accurate ball and Evans has inside leverage on peterson.

This guy shouldn’t reference the fumble either, in no way was that on Jameis, even though plenty of the issues were.

  17. Old Time Buc Says:

St Pete I agree all the way.

  18. Louis Friend Says:

I’m wondering what this same group of people will be saying about Jameis after the next 3 defenses he plays against get a crack at him. It’s about to get really ugly folks. At 1-4 (which is now just about guaranteed), it comes down to whether or not this team is going to show resiliency through the end of the season. Whether Koetter can keep them from going into the tank.

As Dennis Green said: “They are who we thought they were”. To the reasonable ones here at least.

  19. chromolly Says:

No doubt Peterson on ME13 was the death of us..Dougie getting stuffed and injured was expected.

DAMN THAT CORNERBACK WAS ALMOST AS TALL AS EVANS!
