Jameis: It’s On Me
September 18th, 2016It was an ugly game for America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston.
How bad? Joe is flying Old Glory at half-mast.
Speaking on the Buccaneers Radio Network immediately after the game, Jameis made it clear who is to blame for the loss.
Himself.
“You can’t turn the ball over five times,” Jameis said. “Not in the NFL.
“Arizona is a great team but I believe we are a good team too. I just can’t put us behind the eight ball with turnovers.”
Jameis’ first interception he puts on the play of Patrick Peterson. It was a well-thrown ball. Peterson just squeezed the route on Mike Evans, Jameis said. There is a reason Peterson is an All-Pro. Sometimes, you have to tip your cap to the other guy for making a play.
The second pick? Dirk Koetter said it was on Jameis after the game. It was a “bench route,” Koetter said, and Jameis threw to the wrongs ide of Vincent Jackson.
The fumble? Seemed like it was on Charles Sims. The Bucs were still somewhat in the game at that point.
The fourth pick/fifth turnover? That was a wasted play.
Even if you take those three plays away, Jameis had a horrible game.
September 18th, 2016 at 7:49 pm
Jameis needs help evans is not a number 1 yet and may never be. VJAX should have never been brought back. Huge mistake…
September 18th, 2016 at 7:51 pm
Sorry, but the first INT was NOT a well thrown ball.
September 18th, 2016 at 7:54 pm
Some days you just don’t have it. Today was one of those days. Burn the game film and move on. We lost to a pissed off Super Bowl contender. Ok. We will win next week and be back in first place at 2-1.
The OL is the best unit on this team. If we want to worry about anything it’s that the D hasn’t forced a turnover yet.
September 18th, 2016 at 7:54 pm
america’s quarterback, tom brady, did not have a bad game, though he is suspended. the bucs’ quarterback and savior has room for improvement. every game is a learning experience and he will be better for it.
September 18th, 2016 at 7:55 pm
Seemed like everyone played poorly. It happens. Jameis missed throws, guys didn’t help him out, people got hurt, d gave up points a lot. No run game. Just a bad game from start to finish. 2nd road game in a row and traveling west. Good teams show up no matter what, shows this team has pieces but is still a long way off.
September 18th, 2016 at 7:56 pm
Evans is definitely a number 1 receiver
September 18th, 2016 at 7:58 pm
12 milly waste
Told u guys 8 months ago
He woulnt be allowed to suit up for 31 other teams
DM was injury to happen. History repeats
Run forrest run- away from tampa
September 18th, 2016 at 7:58 pm
I wonder if the bucs still believe any kicker is worth #2 high draft picks ?
September 18th, 2016 at 7:58 pm
Both Jameis’ inaccuracy and our receivers inability to gain separation contributed to this blowout.
September 18th, 2016 at 7:59 pm
The Bucs’ weaknesses were exposed today, and I hope that the team is in the building at 6:00 am tomorrow morning ready to work. Take two aspirins and call me then.
September 18th, 2016 at 8:00 pm
Lets not sugar coat this thing, Joe. Jameis played like steaming hot garbage today. I still believe in him, but there’s no reason to justify the turnovers. And the turnovers weren’t his worse throws. He was off the mark all day long and his mechanics were sloppy. The O line did their part. Jameis regressed a little today.

You have no clue what a number 1 is then. Your post referencing Bell has proven your clueless about the wr position
September 18th, 2016 at 8:03 pm
If you guys thought the Bucs were gonna march into AZ and get a win, You were..Trippin! AZ is a top 5 NFL team people. They gave us an A.. whippin of major proportions and then some! To add insult to injury, they will probably help load our injured cripple onto the plane. There was no Buc pass rush. That’s because Bruce Arians recruits straight up Beast on his offensive lines. Palmer looked like a pretty slow motioned ballet all day long. No rest Guys…Up Next the RAMS. And they can play too. There D line is very good and they..actually get sacks. Winnable game though. And I’m sayin it right now. THE UPCOMING RAMS GAME IS A MUST WIN FOR THE BUCS! IF..we want to keep our heads above water. See Y’all next Sunday!!
September 18th, 2016 at 8:05 pm
And just for tmax . After 18 full games. With better receivers and a better oline
. Jameis has 1 more win than Glennon! 6-12 vs 5-13. But right now I still want Jameis to start.
September 18th, 2016 at 8:06 pm
It is on him. I don’t want to hear about the defense. They held the highest scoring offense in the nfl last year to 10 ord with about3 minutes to go in the first half. They lost ally because JW had a bad game. If he was on target there would have been no INTs and the game would have been close in the 20’s.
Sure lots of other players could have done done bettere things here and there but JW played bad their

Glennon is irrelevant sir….
September 18th, 2016 at 8:09 pm
@tmaxcon
You never responded to the Ted ginn comment here’s another one while you’re at it Travis Benjamin
September 18th, 2016 at 8:11 pm
Tmaxcon
Perception of both of them changed when coaches simply asked them to just go deep!
September 18th, 2016 at 8:11 pm
I did not respond because its irrelevant to bucs situation… you lost any credibility you may have had bring bell into the discussion
September 18th, 2016 at 8:12 pm
#3 is a winner. He’s been a winner at every level. That presser just shows why.
He knows the blame goes along with the glory. But have you ever seen anybody shake off bad play better than #3.
It was a great place to get it out of his system. We would have had to be really great today to beat the Cardinals. This was virtually a playoff game for them.
September 18th, 2016 at 8:13 pm
tmax
YOUR the one that alway likes to throw up the 5-13 record after her only played 18 games. So That means Jameis wasonly good enough to win 1 more game by your own logic.
Sorry. Your rules not mine.
September 18th, 2016 at 8:13 pm
^he
September 18th, 2016 at 8:14 pm
@tmaxcon
Stop being butt hurt and take the name off the jersey. Look at your options on your roster and game plan for the rest of the league not buc practices. You’re not playing against the Bucs on sundays
September 18th, 2016 at 8:15 pm
The players (and fans) bought into the hype from Week 1, and I am as guilty as anyone. All week long, they were the toast of the town and were seen in all media outlets, e.g., PFT, BSPN, etc. Mike Evans was talking about how JW might even be considered an MVP candidate. The season is a marathon, and as a Bucs fan since 1976, I will never give up on this team. However, they might want to stop that kind of talk until they start winning consistently.
Coach Koetter was right when he said: “When you’re a team like us that’s trying to become relevant again, you can’t worry about what happened last week,” Koetter said to Alex Marvez and Tim Brown of Sirius XM NFL Radio. “Every week has to be a playoff-type game for us. This will be the first time that we’ve faced it. I’ve got to admit, I am a little bit nervous about that. I think there’s a chance that we would be a little bit too much looking in the rear-view mirror and that’s something we can’t do. We’ve got to learn to get back after it and put our best foot forward this week.”
September 18th, 2016 at 8:19 pm
I said what’s in this article back in the open thread go look. I didn’t even watch the game I live outside of Tampa it wasn’t on here it never is unless we play the redskins.
September 18th, 2016 at 8:19 pm
Games like this are why I can’t buy into Jameis as a franchise type QB. Awful accuracy and just too inconsistent. Jury is still out for me, after 18 games I think it’s a fair assessment.
Oh well time to impress me at home.
September 18th, 2016 at 8:22 pm
Did the cardinals send some Grade A poon over to the bucs hotel last night??? drained those bastards before they played today???
I mean., what the fcuk??
September 18th, 2016 at 8:24 pm
Dang right it’s on him. He said he learned his lessons about taking what the defense gives you. The bubble screen to Humpries was there all day. He could have had five picks, one was dropped. He is far too up and down , difference is in this game his slow start was a game long thing. I am worried that this is who he is. 4 td games one week, 2-3, 4 picks the next with bad overthrows.
September 18th, 2016 at 8:25 pm
“I feel alittle better today than yesterday” Lovie smith
September 18th, 2016 at 8:30 pm
My concern is 4 picks? He did this last year to. Little alarming a guy is capable of that bad a game.
September 18th, 2016 at 8:33 pm
#3 doesn’t look comfortable. He’s stiff and clumsy looking. He moves like each leg weighs 100 pounds.
September 18th, 2016 at 8:36 pm
When is the Louisville kid draft eligible?
September 18th, 2016 at 8:49 pm
Hope he can beat the Rams at least, if not WOW!
September 18th, 2016 at 8:53 pm
Well we can see who the fair weather fans are now can’t we.
Hawaiian and a few others have offered a balanced perspective.
Ok we sucked today but there’s more to it than that.
#3 played an unusually bad game. He won’t do that very often. We were competing with these guys until the turnovers began. We got no bounces. It was on the road out west.
When balls are bouncing off defenders and then our player and into another defender’s hands for a pick six you are seriously snake bit. When ME loses the ball in the lights to set up that first pick…when Sims runs into #3 and causes a turnover…we did not get ONE bounce…not ONE break.
Do I think those excuses forgive the loss? Of course not. But they should mean we stop with some of these absurd posts!!! Koetter is Lovie..ME is average…it’s getting ridiculous. Wait until we are halfway through the season before you cut Aguayo and write off Spence.
Buc fans have the attention span of gerbils…correction…SOME Bucs fans have the attention span of gerbils. Many of you are very thoughtful and not knee jerk posters.
September 18th, 2016 at 9:05 pm
4 picks is really bad. I didn’t get to see the game so maybe some weren’t his fault? I mean we’re 2 games in and jw has 5 picks. Aaron Rogers the gold standard qb had 8 all year last year.
September 18th, 2016 at 9:06 pm
St Pete, it’s not fairweather when you’re watching a team that’s not been relevant in 15 years. The majority of the Buccaneers time on earth, outside of the time we did have elite athletes, has been quagmired in mediocrity to downright embarrassing. Buc fans have a right to be knee jerked especially to the train wreck that was put out there today. Some them just looked lifeless, Vince Jackson, Jameis, you can count on your hand how many came to play. So stop patting yourself and Hawaiaan on your asses and telling yourself how much more ” real fan” you are. The real fans have passion about the wins and losses, not ambivalence.
September 18th, 2016 at 9:09 pm
This is not the league of Brett Favre anymore, Jameis better get a hand on the ints
September 18th, 2016 at 9:14 pm
Chris
Well said… the real fan bs is laughable. It’s 2 weeks in a row vjax has looked lifeless and slow. Father time and his knee have caught up with him. Time to let go. Great man great player for bucs but he can no longer contribute full time and evans isn’t a 1 yet. WR is beyond desperate
September 18th, 2016 at 9:28 pm
Jameis should have thrown nine interceptions today he choked he was horrible I was at the game it was a train wreck on the quarterback side they should put Glennon in
September 18th, 2016 at 9:33 pm
two missed passes in the endzone in the last two weeks that could have been TD’s if thrown to the back shoulder. they need to work on this pass. so far the chances are better than 50-50 that it is going over Evans head. Its only a well thrown ball if the receiver comes down with it.Jameis needs to bring the ball
down some. No reason for Simms to have to extend like that on a screen or flair.High passes can create tip drills for defenders.
Defense started out ok.but we let Larry fitzgerald take over the game in the second quarter.ready for a change at corner.Lets try vernor and Hargreaves on outside Grimes should have had an interception.Appears PFF did have a l
point abut Kwan not wrapping UP.
September 18th, 2016 at 9:47 pm
OUCH.
It stings….it stings.
September 18th, 2016 at 10:21 pm
#3 has to learn the game. It’ll take some time. He was supposed to be pro ready. Meanwhile Prescott,Wentz, Seimen etc look alot better and beat good teams. If he craps the bed all season. He can be the backup in 2017.
September 18th, 2016 at 10:33 pm
Growing Pains.
September 18th, 2016 at 10:40 pm
It’s not all on Winston, he’s just not an elite QB yet, even though the Joes worship him and laud his “Pro Bowl” replacement appointment (not election) last season.
The Bucs are a 6 or 7 win team, they’re just not in the same class as Arizona, who has drafted well, traded well, and made the right moves in free agency for 5+ seasons.
The Bucs have been the worst personnel management team in the NFL since Chucky ran Rich McKay out of town, so it’s going to take a long time to turn that shortage around. Drafting a kicker in the second round when there were gaping holes at WR and DE isn’t going to do anything to speed that up.
If Winston is the real deal, and that’s a much bigger if than most fans want to admit, the Bucs day will come … it just won’t be here for a couple of more seasons.
September 18th, 2016 at 11:02 pm
anybody here remember the game Carson Palmer had for the NFC Championship game? Just saying it happens. If J runs off 4-5 solid starts, we are all good. VJax needs to find his game too ASAP.
September 19th, 2016 at 12:32 am
@ destin Johnny my thoughts to. I’m guessing a 6-7 win team. Also, jw is no star yet even the media is pushing it. Totally agree on draft pick. I hope Aguayo is good but we need to be good in the draft to get better. That pick just slows the process. The cardinals have been great in the drafts and fa.
September 19th, 2016 at 4:17 am
I don’t care about the turnovers. After all the turnovers we would have still been in this game. had Winston Ben able to price together more then 1 drive.
September 19th, 2016 at 4:19 am
Piece
September 19th, 2016 at 8:49 am
Makes me laugh when I read some idiot saying mike Evans isn’t a #1 WR LOL do you watch football? Also people asking when the Louisville QB is draft eligible? HAHAHAH please stop with the crap talk. The PC world today needs instant gratification or they lose it..give them some time..Jesus
September 19th, 2016 at 8:53 am
@poor glennon…you must have something personal against Winston huh? Your name..wanting a new QB ALREADY…are you a wish I went to UF but couldn’t get in so I’ll be a gator fan like 80% of those jort wearing rednecks? Give this team some time. 17 games isn’t time
September 21st, 2016 at 1:05 pm
Haters are going to hate. So Winston throws 4 TDs the week before and no comment. Then he throws 3 picks the next week (I dont count the last one, hail mary) and all of a sudden Winston sucks. Some of you fans just dont like Winston (Mariota lovers?) plain and simple!!!!
