“He Doesn’t Care Who’s Covering Who”

Praised or knocked?

The Rams’ $14 million cornerback had some strong words when asked about America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston.

Joe wasn’t quite sure what to make of them, though they certainly were cocky.

Cornerback Trumaine Johnson got the franchise tag from Los Angeles after racking up seven interceptions last season (Bucs corners had just two combined) one of which came against Jameis during the Bucs’ embarrassing showing versus the Rams on Thursday Night Football in December.

Johnson told the L.A Times this week that Jameis won’t let up no matter who is squared up against him.

“He’s going to definitely give you opportunities,” Johnson said, adding, “He doesn’t care who’s covering who —he’s going to throw the ball up.

“And I like that.”

Well, Johnson certainly isn’t lying. CBS Sports noted this week that Jameis has thrown the most interceptions in the NFL since the start of the 2015 season.

And Dirk Koetter is fearless when it comes to his prized QB, as evidenced by Jameis taking deep drops and passing the ball during garbage time of a 40-7 loss on Sunday in Arizona, as well as Jameis targeting Mike Evans repeatedly with Patrick Peterson covering him.

It’ll be interesting to see how Dirk Koetter approaches the Rams’ shakier secondary.

Bucs have lost to these tough talkers for four straight years…it’s time to shut them up…I think the direction of the season hinges on Sunday’s outcome.

Real simple: slants, screens, short passes to all these TEs we have. Slow the game down. This Ram yapper won’t know what hit him.

I think we are going to win this game but I with u Jon I want to really bury the Rams on Sunday they acting like they coming in here thinking they are going to get an easy win

  4. BucinJax Says:

I don’t care who’s covering who, either. If they are open, throw it to the receiver. Let’s repeat. Throw it to the receiver.

I agree entirely…..Jameis has many weapons in the receiving corps……backs, TEs & receivers….use them all and use them often.

I’m really getting tired of playing the Rams every season.

  7. BuccaneEric75 Says:

I think he’s complimenting Winston for not shying away from him.

  8. Mike Johnson Says:

Rams been whippin our A’s for a few years now. We always seem to make their no name QB a player of the week somehow. Would be nice to see us win Sunday. You think AZ had a Defense? Wait until you see how hard them Ram Boyz be hittin. We had better be ready. Their D line plays like they are..possessed.

  9. Buccfan37 Says:

Heard on 620am that the Rams coach is 8-1 against the Bucs. Damn! This result has to end. Now I remember why I dislike that coach.

  10. Tampa Tony Says:

Fingers crossed Jameis doesn’t turn the ball over

  11. RamzHornz Says:

Tru Johnson was actually pointing out that Jameis is a very confident gunslinger…and most secondary guys like playing against QB’s like that i.e. BRET FARVE types , because whether or not they capitalize, the DB’s will have opportunities to make an interception. He wasn’t down talking Winston guys …media types will always slant words to be controversial so as to make news.

  12. BigStinky Says:

Going to be a tough game to win no matter what. They have the kind of team the Bucs use to have, good defense and a good running game. Keep the game close and win it in the end. Jameis better check the ball down this week or he may cost us another game with more turnovers. I just hope he can hit a slant pattern this week and NOT be overthrowing everybody. JW needs to stop with ALL the rah rah speeches before the game and try to meditate instead. He’s too jacked up before the game, let McCoy give the pregame speech and just concentrate on being accurate this week. Wait a couple drives to go deep.

  13. BigStinky Says:

Besides, it just looks stupid when you are ALL fired up trying to get the team up for the game and throw an INT on your first drive. We could have scored first in that game and it would have turned out totally different.

  14. Jack M. Says:

Let the players play and the coaches coach . TE’s need to be IN this game . BTW , Charles Sims us the real deal . Screens and reverses will make the defense slow down .

  15. Scott Fitzgerald Says:

Shakier secondary? Did you see what they kept Seattle to? under 10 points. We all know Wilson can sling it with the best of em too

  16. Issic Haggins Says:

Hard to win without a successful run game, even more so when your rec core is a lil suspect ? I am a lil worried about the run game ? The Coach and GM seem to feel differently and that reminds me of ghosts past, much easier to evaluate other teams than your very own.

  17. Wes Says:

I get a respect vibe from his comment

  18. EA Says:

If their coach is 8-1 against us, I was at the game we won, Jeff Garcia and Chucky beat the Titans with Vince Young at QB something like 13-10.

  19. holymoly13 Says:

I agree that Jameis will throw against any corner or DB. What I want to see , is some turnovers from our secondary.

  20. DemBoyzFromDaBay727 Says:

I wouldon’t put to much stock into that Seattle game, there offesne has been very poor all year, not to mention Wilson was injured as well so u gotta factor in those 2 things, don’t get me wrong they have a tremendous defense mainly because of there D line with Quinn back this year, but they are certain lly beatable with the poor offesne they have in Kenuum under center. Expect a low scoring game sunday, I think the Bucs will pull out a win in the home opener with the Bucs getting the 1st turnover and sealing the deal late in the game. 💪💯

This writer is trying so desperately to make a story. I watched the interview and it seemed more like praise to jaimies than anything. To many writers try to make drama where it is not needed

  22. Bsardizhard Says:

Ownage is ownage, and the numbers don’t lie. Don’t let a petty Bay Area fan persuade anyone. This Rams defense is a top 5, hard hitting machine. The Rams have yet to get a potent run game going. One open hole for gurley is a game changer. It’s clear that the Bucks will lean heavily on their passing game in this contest, playing right into Tru’s hands.

  23. Josh Says:

If you guys had Martin this week I would roll with the Buccaneers even being a Rams fan. Without him however the threat of the run is not as great and if Sims gets stuffed at the line like I expect it could be a long day for Winston (who I like and is much better than Andrew Luck).
