Buccaneers Name Their Captains

The players’ vote is in!
Your Buccaneers captains for the 2016 season are Russell Shepard (special teams), Lavonte David and Gerald McCoy (defense), Vincent Jackson and America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston.
Dirk Koetter broke the news moments ago.
He also added the Bucs will have a weekly captain honor, which this week goes to center Joe Hawley. So it’s a safe bet Hawley won the starting center job.
Captains don’t mean much at the end of the day. But the vote is always an indicator as to what’s going on in the locker room. (See 2013).
Joe is glad to see Jameis is in his rightful place.

I do hope LVD takes this leadership role and really embraces it. His play on the field speaks for itself, but if he couls become a vocal leader and emotional leader too, that would go a long way for this defense. I am on the side that believes leaders for a team are an essential part to success. I know joe thinks grown men with millions of dollars don’t need any more motivation, but that is simply not true. You can get so much more out of a emotionally motivated person than you can with just monetary motivation.

Love our defensive captains, but I wonder how close Kwon was to winning one of those slots.

Kwon will probably need to put in a full season of work before being considered a captain but I do expect him to get there at some point.

I like the rotating captains, so if a player used to play for the opponents they can be a captain for the week to kind of stick it to em.

I’m glad to see the captain’s that the players have voted in. I’m sure that all of them will have times that they can show that they are influential to the team and the other players, great choices…..GO BUCS!
