“Those Things Are Very Helpful”
August 24th, 2016Bucs fans heading to the stadium on Dale Mabry Highway on Friday night will get to step into the 21st century — finally! — and enjoy truly spectacular new video boards above both end zones, among the most massive in the NFL.
Joe asked Dirk Koetter today if he’s the kind of head coach who looks up for replays and desires those images.
It seems Koetter is as pumped as the fans will be, but for different reasons.
“Oh yeah, those things are very helpful,” Koetter said of giant video boards in stadiums.
“In the preseason, of course, they’re letting us demo these Surface tablets where every play is on video. It’s been awesome to see them. I mean, you’re watching the whole game in between. In the real season, you don’t have those; you just have the still pictures. Those video boards, you definitely look up there to see what happens.”
Koetter added the Bucs were not one of the NFL teams chosen to demo the in-game Surface film last year, and he said he’s all in favor of bringing them aboard full-time.
Joe sure hopes Mike Evans isn’t too tempted to look at those replays, especially on questionable non-calls. Joe wants Evans to stay distraction-free.

So in the future the in stadium game experience will be much like public everyday life, everybody immersed in the device they are holding.

I predict the new video boards quit working 4 minutes into the first quarter….just seems like something that would happen here
