The Captains’ March
August 12th, 2016So about Thursday night’s coin toss in Philadelphia?
Lots of fans take the whole team-captaincy thing seriously. Joe finds it a bit overblown, but sometimes it can be telling.
Last night, four Buccaneers performed the traditional team captain duties of marching to midfield for the coin toss: Gerald McCoy, Lavonte David, Doug Martin and America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston.
Jameis was fired up. Joe had to reduce the photo above to fit this page, but the big version would reveal Jameis’ eyes lit up like a Christmas tree marching to midfield.
It might be noteworthy that Vincent Jackson wasn’t out there, given that he’s been a team captain dating back to the Greg Schiano regime, and that Doug Martin took the role for the first time. Also, there were no newcomer Bucs in the group.
Joe talked to David after the game, and David revealed that pregame customs, rituals and routines were very much the same last night as they were under Lovie Smith. Dirk Koetter had no significant changes, David said.
The captain choices, at least for one night, reflected that, too.
None of this means much, but Joe knows all this represents a fresh, hot meal for the read-between-the-lines crowd. Enjoy your meal.

Sorry to shout out another site joe, but EVERY needs to see the Eagles game rewind video on the bucs app. There is a part in there with Clinton McDonald and Noah Spence getting pumped on the sidelines that gave me goosebumps. Spence has PASSION.

And that changed what? Still another Preseason loss. I know. It has to be McCoy.

Jimbo what they say”everybody eatin”. And I like the words of GMC rally cry “123 Superbowl”. So glad the people in that lockerroom have a belief in that potential reality unlike the people of this here site. 6 wins,if the ball bounces right my @$$.

Did something need to change?

Tell ya’ll folks something again. Teams that can rely on a healthy run game and can flat out rush the passer are contenders. Its what the Hawks,Broncos, and kitties have hung they’re hats on in recent years. Gose without saying we can show up in any stadium in this league and run the ball, last night proved to me Jay Hayes has his boys in eat mode. I look forward to seeing many of you none believers change your tune when this season kicks off for real.

“Still another pre season lost”,let me guess you wanted them to appear to be in mid season peeking mode during the first live scrimmage. Fans want meaningless wins in pre season others want that thorough evaluation.

We could’ve won last night’s game 30 to nothing,I would’ve still wanted to hear coach Koetter say our performance was sub par. They same way Bill Belichek dose after the pats win a superbowl.

Offensive and defensive line play is the most important thing to evaluate during pre season. Period!!

9buc they got it twisted, they think because we hype Famous that we think it rest on the arm of Jameis who will win our first chip. Wrong. Our first chip rest on the shoulder pads of Doug Martin and the tenacity of our D line. Rodgers won his chip because Stark was toting the air the football and Matthews pressure. Big Ben didn’t win that first one,Jerome Bettis and a mean D did. Peyton Manning in Indy behind Ajai running and Freeny’s pressure. I really could go on and on.

NOS you spot on my friend. Spot on.
August 12th, 2016 at 10:27 pm
And please don’t mention the Patriots that short passing is just an extention of the run game.

The red splotch is gone from McCoy’s head.
August 13th, 2016 at 10:21 am
So that’s what the Winston-McCoy get together pow wow pep talk was all about. Get rid of that red spot Gerald because you’re distracting our attention away on the sidelines. I think having it gone as you suggest ’87 is a positive step. Rest in peace red spot.
