“Jaws” Scolds Mike Evans
August 18th, 2016Mike Evans has a chance to be an elite wide receiver. He demonstrated that as a rookie.
But last year, woof! All of those drops, hassles with refs and allowing defenders to get in his head. Ugly.
Today, the four-letter is broadcasting live from the Bucs-Jags practices in Jacksonville, and the subject of the Bucs receivers came up.
“Jaws,” Ron Jaworski, long-time BSPNer and former Super Bowl quarterback, discussed the lack of depth the Bucs have at receiver and overall lauded the Bucs’ starters at receiver, Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans. But then he spanked Evans for his drops, saying those drops, if they occur again this year, could ice the offense.
“Absolutely no doubt that is one areas that Mike Evans must improve,” Jaws said. “He’s a big, tall, strong-handed receiver. But when you get the ball on those hands. You. Must. Catch. It. If you look at a fault of Mike Evans, that is it.
“He can get open. He can be explosive. He is a big target in the red zone. Dropped balls, those will kill you.”
Joe isn’t as bent about the drops as he is about Evans not having his head in the game, which in many cases Joe believes led to drops. Joe noticed Evans bellyaching for a flag and slowing up on his route before the ball got to him in pas years. That is unacceptable.
Then, who can forget Josh Norman totally getting in Evans’ brain and Evans flipping out, getting tossed from a game?
If Evans focuses and locks in on the task at hand, all should be well after that.

evans having a mature respected coach for the first time in his nfl career should help greatly with the mental side of the game.

You can’t make excuses for these players, they are highly paid professionals.

Ehhh…Thanks Jaws….

This is the same Ron Jaworski that has Leprechauns and Fairies as his sources and they told him the Bucs were drafting Mariotta.

Exactly Ocala, this guy is a fool.
Secondly, I saw enough from that preseason non-call to prove to me Mike has changed. He was blatantly held, and didn’t even look at the official. He just turned around and headed back to the huddle. Proof he has changed.

What are the chances Evans and Vjax play 16 games…. like 10%?
I hate the lack of speed and lack of depth there.

Well.ll you know, Its not Evans fault he drops many passes. After all, If you believe Joe and his minions..its the coach’s fault! This is one of the few websites that never blame players. Thus, a losing season..every time.

I know he will get past it. Its all mental. And its not the same.problem as ASJ. You can see Evans really wants it. Its frustrating him. Its a mental block. Once he geta past it ge will explode. Only thing is when will he get past it?

Evans doesn’t drop that many passes. He has stated that he has advanced with better coaching to avoid over reacting to opponents tight coverage which should lower penalties called against him. Jaws is saying what has been repeated over and over. Evans will haul in his share of completions and is crucial to this Bucs season. Have to pull huge for Evans .
