“He Kind Of Reminds Me Of Adam”
August 6th, 2016If you’re a Bucs receiver fighting for a job, then you want America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, to refer to you as another Adam Humphries.
Joe is very impressed by newcomer Jonathan Krause, who was signed off waivers right before training camp. After two seasons out of Vanderbilt with the Browns, PatriotsĀ and Eagles, Krause packed up his Super Bowl ring and elite speed and came to Tampa knowing nobody in the organization.
Quickly, he’s been standing out for precise routes, squeezing the football and making plays, often in first- and second-team duty.
Today, Joe asked Jameis about Krause adapting so quickly.
“Man, Jon-Jon has been playing his tail off,” Jameis said. “You know, he kind of reminds me of Adam [Humphries] in a way; he’s always in the right spot. For him just to be here for two weeks and he’s learning this offense the way that he is, I can only imagine how it would be for him if he had a whole season under this offense.”
Right now, Joe pegs Krause to make the 53-man roster, along with Humphries, Mike Evans, Vincent Jackson and Russell Shepard. Lots of teams only roll with five receivers. And, of course, Louis Murphy is waiting in the wings. Maybe he’ll be ready by October.
Preseason games will meanĀ so very much for a guy like Krause. Kenny Bell? Well, regular readers here know Joe never belonged to the Kenny Bell Mob, or understood the fascination with a guy who hasn’t shown anything with pads on.
Programming alert: members of the Kenny Bell Mob will want to read Joe’s Sunday practice notes and observations coming later this afternoon.

It’s Saturday.

I hope a receiver steps up and shows potential to be a solid #2 behind jackson. That would make next year’s draft so much easier if we go in with few glaring holes, allowing to take a few different guys. It seems like the last few years we go in so weak at a certain position, you can bet money on who we will pick. I would love to anticipate the draft again, by picking in the mid-late picks and have no real clue which direction we will go in. That means we have a solid team with no major holes and we won more than we lost.

There will be no more top 10 picks as long as Jameis is the QB and Koetter is the HC.

Relax on Krause.. The Browns didn’t want him. He didn’t catch a ball with the sorry receiver group in New England..

Oh, right. Thanks Brent.
I forgot that past performance always dictates future success. (Sarcasm font)
Are we to assume that you are never going to contribute a quality take, since u haven’t done so up to this point? (to my knowledge)
Why even waste the keystokes…

They’ve got Bell higher than Krause on the depth chart. He’s ranked 4th to be exact. Krause is an “other” on the chart at the moment.

Brent… the USF Bulls are picked to be good this year as I’m sure you are aware, either that or you are from Chicago. They host FSU in September, I’m not sure if they’re that good, but a win in that game would be huge. Don’t know where they stand in the Big 12 discussion going on. Bucs and Bulls, that’s what I’m excited about.

Got a hunch the light’s finally come on for Jonathan Krause and he knows what it’ll take to make it onto an NFL roster. Had a great senior year at Vandy (17 yds/catch) and flashed 4.34 speed at his NFL workout but hasn’t seemed to be able to put it all together yet. Looks like he’s doing that thus far with the Bucs though, and it’ll be interesting to see how he does in the preseason games. If he keeps showing up he should beat out Bell, Reedy, Dye and the others for that 5th spot, especially since he’s also a pretty decent special teams guy (over 11 yds per punt return his junior year at Vandy).
And for Brent bull/buc … Patriots had 4,587 yds in 2015, the 5th best in the NFL. Obviously their WRs didn’t grab all of those, but they more than held their own from what I can see. Not bad in my opinion for such a “sorry receiver group” (your words, not mine).

Brent bull/buc
Oak, Carolina and Giants all did not want Murphy yet some here believe is a 3…. obviously he is not….

Bucfan37 I’ll be excited for usf this year. Last year was fun first time in awhile. I hope rj is sold out for fsu. Eric I root for every buc. How am I supposed to get excited about this guy? He’s never done anything. When he does something I’ll get excited. I’ve been right so far on asj being a bad pick where he was taken, and movies defense being bs. I predicted 5 wins for Bucs last year also pretty close. Defense rules good info but 4 words Tom Brady, bill bello heck. Nobody in my fantasy leagues valid pats receivers save Edelman..

Bucfan37 I wish we could find a league and just have the league not break apart. Like the big east and now maybe AAC. If AAC would hold firm I might be ok with it. We would have a shot to win it every year. Big12 does that mean we’re going to be bottom feeders? I don’t wanna be the Vanderbilt miss at types in sec.

Yeah tmaxcon, I see Murphy as a 4 or 5 too.
August 6th, 2016 at 6:07 pm
I would be alright with Bell making it over Murphy. KB can at least play special teams. Not sure why he is so disliked..?
August 6th, 2016 at 7:36 pm
KB is only disliked bcuz he has way too high of a drop rate when the pads come on for some reason.
Brent, fair enough

I hope bell takes one to the house on returns next week.

The thing that surprises me is DBs
Banks and Robinson getting beat out by Jude so far and rookie smith hasn’t shown much so far at safety
I’d be surprised if a healthy Akeem Spence doesn’t take over at DT eventually

Im liking Krause right mow but you really gotta see what the preseason will bring. Im hoping Krause will blow up. Im not sure about Kenny but i dont know if the bucs feel the same way

Joe NFL pads must be much bigger and heavier than college pads that’s why he disappears, they slow him down. It’s not like he’s the biggest guy in the world. Plus that afro and all those teeth and flesh and bones. Man he has it so bad!
