“Get That Man The Ball”
August 20th, 2016There has been a lot of chatter since last season about Mike Evans’ discipline and how he and America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, were not always on the same page.
Jameis discussed this subject with “Jaws,” Ron Jaworski, live on BSPN Thursday, after the second of two joint practices with the Jags in Jacksonville.
“He has been amazing,” Jameis said of Evans this summer. “When you watch his practice film — not his game film — and you can see how he has developed. Man! He is going hard every single play. He is really out there on a mission.
“It is just a different chemistry. I have to feed him the ball. I have to be able to get him the ball. I missed him so many times last year and he is making me pay for it. He is out there showing me great looks in practice so I have to get that man the ball.”
As Joe told Jeff Cameron of ESPN Tallahassee yesterday, the key with Evans isn’t so much his drops, which so many people focus on and for good reason. No, Joe thinks the key with Evans is discipline — running good routes and finishing the routes, and not worrying if a ref is going to throw a flag or not.
Based on the first preseason game and what Evans and Jameis have said, Evans is far down the road to accomplishing this goal.

Sounds about right to me.

Evans is gonna be a savage this year, watch. I don’t think ppl realize how good of a combo Winston and Evans can actually be. Once these guys get there timing and chemistry together look out. The league will be on notice real quick.

Have some poker buddies (NC) who know football…..talk turned from nutcase Johnny Football to Mike Evans……all of them thought he was an absolute beast and wish they had him on their team….

two up and coming NFL players growing together, sounds good to me.DB’s
seem to have all the advantages, they can clutch and grab and when ME tries to be physical he gets called for PI.The non holding call on Evans is just the tip of the iceberg.Inthe few preseason games I watched ,bad calls seem to be the norm.

Yea, I watched a db from from the Eagles grab him on a deep route, he didn’t worry about it and went straight back to the huddle. I would say that was a great step in the right direction. Keep up the good work.

kudos to the coaching staff for working with Evans on his routes.Evans did not play football until his last two years of college ,so route running was considered a little rough coming out of college.
Jameis is very honest with himself and media. He feels he missed Evans a lot last year and when Jameis wants to improve something, good things happen.

Alshon Jeffery and a 2nd round speedster next year!!
Thanks V-Jax for becoming the greatest receiver, role model, and free agent signing in Bucs History!!!
I swear, the first time I saw Mike Evans play against Auburn (my alumni), I said “wow. That dude is a Vincent Jackson clone!!”
By the way, Vincent Jackson is the full name of Bo Jackson.
And Jameis Winston is from the same home town as Bo Jackson!!
We are a team of destiny!!!
