Bucs Move Thursday’s Redskins-Bucs Game To Wednesday
August 29th, 2016The tropical storm nearing Florida already is shaking things up.
The Buccaneers have moved Thursday’s final preseason game against the Redskins to Wednesday at 8 p.m.
“This decision was made by both teams in conjunction with the National Football League and local authorities in an effort to ensure the safety of our fans, players and stadium staff,” said Brian Ford, the Bucs’ chief operation officer.
What a mess!
Joe hopes the storm track slows down and the Bucs can get a clean game in — for the sake of the fans who have bought tickets.
WFLA-TV, Ch. 8, will be airing the game live.

Might get some for free. 80 percent of the guys on the field will be unemployed by the weekend.

I was wondering about the weather, too. Good thing I checked in. Thanks Joe.

This is horse spit! I’m working Weds, off Thurs, and don’t mind the rain. Why didn’t they consult me?

Well here is the notice anyway. I think this area will be spared any bad weather. The closest an actual hurricane targeted Tampa Bay in my lifetime was in 1960 when Hurricane Donna’s eye went through Plant City approaching from the southwest Gulf. About 100 mph winds in North Tampa.

I don’t know why they bother. That storm will have to make a sharp turn to hit Tampa, and that never happens.
More likely to hit closer to the top of the state.

@Buccfan37
Hurricane Elena kicked up some great surfing and flooding when she came near.

Bonzai… yeah but she never hit land here, sat there off the coast and then moved away. It’s actually rare for hurricanes to wallop Tampa, the big one hit back in 1921.
