Aguayo Passes First Home Test
August 26th, 2016It seemed as if it was one of the most anticipated place kicks in recent Bucs history.
After two shaky road performances and a terrible practice Tuesday at a season ticket holders-only practice, which provoked jeers and heckling, it seemed Bucs fans were on the edge of their seats.
So much so, that tonight, when the Bucs’ first possession died just inside rookie kicker Roberto Aguayo’s range, the Florida State product jogged onto the field and was met with applause.
When is the last time the Bucs settling for a field goal drew praise? If Joe didn’t know any better, Joe would have thought Father Dungy’s cult invaded the Den of Depression.
Aguayo proceeded to kick a 48-yard field goal to put the Bucs up 3-0. He later kicked a 21-yard field goal and three extra points in the first half, and another short field goal in the fourth quarter.
It appears, the kid can kick after all.
Now, can Bucs fans return to being bored with chip shot field goals?

“Now, can Bucs fans return to being bored with chip shot field goals?”
Let’s hope so! Go Bucs!

Pablo must be giving this guy advice. Kinda like Rene Russo did for Roy mcavoy

some of these so called fans will find someone else to pick on..Maybe Grimes is next cause he was a bit off..
Bandwagon fans that just were ready to send Roberto packing..SMDFH..
I told everyone, give Roberto a chance..it’s not uncommon to struggle a bit at first..

Nice halftime feature on him and his dad…I’ve been as guilty as anyone of “jumping out the basement window” regarding Roberto. I’m really rooting for this kid…

I had my doubts he would straighten out before the season started. But im so glad he had a day like today to get back in his groove, i knew he would eventually. Couldnt have been a better time either, primetime nationally televised game to quiet all the haters.

Your right, Grimes and Glennon were horible.

Now, Roberto just needs to repeat this game virtually every game he suits up for as a Buc for the next 10 years (at least) to justify the pick.

Can we finally put this sh!t to bed??? I swear, every 3 articles on this site were about this dude.
On a positive note, Evs & Hump came out like a couple of bosses tonight. THIS is what I shoulda been reading about every other article, instead of the Joes fanning the flames on Aguayo.

All the boo bàssturds need to cut the crap! Aguayo just kicked it down your throats! GIVE THE YOUNG MAN A DAMN CHANCE! He is just getting started. At least his team mate’s have his back, since some of the so called sorry arse fans can’t encouraged the up and coming players.
August 26th, 2016 at 11:36 pm
I said it before and I’ll say it again: he’s a rookie just like any other. Just because he’s a kicker doesn’t mean he won’t have growing pains. I watched this kid for years at FSU, and I truly believe he’s got what it takes, physically and mentally.
August 26th, 2016 at 11:48 pm
Great to see this kid get out of his initial NFL Funk! Now kick that pigskin into glory. You getting paid big BUCS..Do your job!

What a storyline. After driving bucs fans buts. After the first teams drives down the field in the first few seconds of the half. Setting up Aguayo for his first home kick. His longest kick. Damn. This doesn’t mean he is out of the water. But I am higher than the best cannabis on the way we played today

Aguayo looked good tonight–and I’m glad to see this article, even if it seems that Joe wrote it begrudgingly (“It appears the kid can kick after all”–really Joe? And what were those FSU years???).
More importantly, I thought the halftime story on Aguayo was poignant and telling to what kind of man that he is.
I hope he continues this bud of success.

@joebucsfan blocked me on Twitter for calling him out on a story where he bashed the kicker and now they write the opposite. Your welcome

Roberto has range from at least 60….if push came to shove….62 yards probably.
August 27th, 2016 at 3:33 am
Those days are in the past. He’s in the NFL now which of course stands for “Not For Long” if he doesn’t continue Friday night’s pace up.

You have to remember that the loud mouthed critics dont possess the athletic ability to run on the field and pick up the tee after Roberto kicks.

@Joe
Where has the edgy analysis gone? Seems like its given way to a plethora of negative articles on Aguayo,ASJ, and Mike Evans over the past year. And
you still found a way to dig Evans with the K-Y reference.

Man…I was praying for the kid when he stepped up for that first field goal…and for every kick in the game.
He needed this confidence boost. Now that its out of the way, there should not be a problem until Game 1 (when it becomes real). Then, there is a chance he gets nervous again. But I hope not.

Just an observation, but I noticed they are still alternating holders. I imagine after cut downs when he gets to become comfortable with one holder he will really be able to settle in
