  1. Defense Rules Says:

Not sure what to make of that podcast Joe? Think I heard Ira say that ASJ’s hands ‘are not all that good’ and Steve say that he thinks he might be ‘almost done’. Also think I heard Steve say that he’s ‘not enamored with Luke Stocker because he can’t catch the ball’. Brate was mentioned, but barely. Nothing about Brandon Myers or Danny Vitale or Tevin Westbrook. Is the takeaway supposed to be that our TE group is weak? I was under the impression that it was actually going to be one of our strengths.
Well, Brate was discussed. Ira was the one blasting Stocker’s ability to get open, not his hands.–Joe

  2. The Buc Realist Says:

WR and TE in the 2017 draft!!!!! been saying it for awhile now!!! oh yea and DT!!!!

  3. flmike Says:

Who here would take Julius Thomas as our starting TE?
If you said you would, you’re basically saying you’d take ASJ, Thomas took three full seasons of being often injured and doing stupid things on and off the field to figure it out in Denver. Some guys are just thick and need time to mature, ASJ is one of those guys.

  4. LifeOfABucFan Says:

I thought it was going to be something major on ASJ..but honestly, it’s that Noo Jork accent that I can’t take too much of.lol..

ASJ is still the best TE we got..and he has been working on his maturity issues and temper..so let’s leave him alone..

    Let’s move on…*drops mic*..

  5. Bucsfanman Says:

We’re waiting! Best case scenario would be for ASJ to find himself. We’ll have to wait and see.
@Realist- WR and DT for sure! Vitale might blossom along with Brate. I’ll rate TE a “maybe”.

  6. Joe Says:

    Defense:

If you expect Ira to just recite a roster, well, Joe has to apologize because you will be very disappointed. Joe isn’t hiring Ira to bore folks to death.

    But if it helps:

    Brandon Myers: Very much bubblicious.

Danny Vitale: Great White Hope with a degree from a fantastic college.

    Tevin Westbrook: Who???

  7. Vic Says:

You Vitale freaks are hilarious. Let’s see if he can even get activated on Sundays. … Like the podcast. Not the same old boring, crappy Internet babble.

  8. Joe Says:

Thank you Vic! Glad you it.

  9. The Buc Realist Says:

It would just be nice to have a TE that could do more than just one thing, Brate can catch, ASJ is a knucklehead, and Stocker can block, but is about as usefull in the passing game as lovie is in a game planning meeting!!!!!

  10. America's Commenter Says:

Cameron Brate is going to make the team and be the #1 TE. He’s the only one that can block, run routes, make consistent catches, and keep his head on straight.

Stocker and Myers are essentially the same player, so one of them will make the team and the other will likely be gone.

ASJ probably gets one more season to prove the Bucs didn’t waste a premium draft pick on him, but only because the Bucs don’t have any other prospects with as much potential upside if he can get his act together. @flmike’s analogy to Denver’s Julius Thomas may be right on point.

It’s possible the Bucs may keep Vitale on the 53-man roster if he can play a variety of roles, such as FB, TE, and Special Teams. Otherwise, he’s probably destined for the practice squad.

  11. Chris Says:

Lol, feel like I’m listening to 1950s radio here with the Cadillac plugs.

  12. Bucsfanman Says:

@Vic- I said,”might blossom.” He is intriguing though, you must admit. If the college skills transfer over, he could be another Cooley or Kuhn style player. I think it’ll take him a couple of years though.
I’m really hoping ASJ can remove his head from his….

  13. Dave Pear Says:

    Joe (or Steve),
I am really glad to have Ira on board your team, Steve.
    Fantastic addition, Steve.
One question, Steve. Are you paying him extra for every time he says your name, Steve?

  14. Defense Rules Says:

Joe, given our situation with our WRs (not overloaded with depth?) was expecting that our TEs would get a lot more touches this season. Kinda thought we had some very good talent in that room (yup, including Vitale and Westbrook-who). After what I heard, starting to think there are more question-marks about the TEs than the WRs, which won’t do well for Jameis. Is out TE group a strength or a weakness?

  15. tmaxcon Says:

You cant fix stupid and the only thing asj has proven is that he is stupid and fragile.

  16. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Speaking for Pablo

“Pablo also has trouble with the Noo Jork accent…..but Pablo has trouble with his own accent…..as for Henkins…….Henkins is one of Pablo’s best tippers….Pablo hopes Henkins hangs around Tampa for a while….Pablo has many bills to pay and mouths to feed”

  17. Bucsfanman Says:

tmax- He hasn’t proven otherwise so far! Maybe? I don’t know, it’s hard to be optimistic about him.

  18. Joe Says:

    Defense:

TE could be a strength but not a weakness. WR depth very easily could be a serious weakness (see Louis Murphy story this morning).

  19. tmaxcon Says:

    Bucsfanman

I was pullung for him until he was thrown out of practice. Call it lack of maturity or whatever pc buzzward that is acceptable but when a young players does his best to throw his lucrative career away to me thats stipid. His talent has not translated to anything but paper

  20. LifeOfABucFan Says:

    LOL @ Pablo..

Just heard Bucs are looking into Devin Hester!

  21. Joe Says:

    tmaxon:

Sometimes Joe wishes you’d get straight to the point. 🙂

  22. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Speaking for Pablo

“Pablo wants to splain somtin’ bout Pablo’s table dancing…..everyone enjoys Pablo’s moves……Pablo dances for the LGBTQAX & ABCDEFG community. Pablo doesn’t want JBF readers to assume any bad thoughts about Pablo’s customers….Pablo dances for 87 who has large breasts but Pablo thinks he is a man. Pablo doesn’t know what Realist is. Pablo knows this is off the JBF subject but Pablo suspects there will never be a JBF article on table dancing. The closest subject was MW19’s stripper pole which was actually installed just for Pablo”

  23. BucGator Says:

Can you suscribe to this podcast on iTunes?

    Next month. –Joe

  24. mike Says:

    Glad IRA is on board.
I wish ASJ got the concept of what it means to be a pro

  25. Buccaneers Says:

It was noted that if ASJ doesnt work out it would be another bad mark on Lichts resume. Maybe its just me but I dont see Jason being overly concerned to force somebody onto the field just to try and pad his resume.

  26. Defense Rules Says:

Joe, you scared me with that Louis Murphy tidbit (hadn’t read the story). Like you, I think Murph is our best #3 WR option at this point. And like you, I really hope he rehabs successfully and makes it back onto the team. At this point I’ve heard nothing to indicate that he won’t, so I’ll stay optimistic.

  27. LargoBuc Says:

Guys, Jason Licht will be on 620 at 5 oclock. im going to try to call in and ask the following question:
After Schiano was fired, and Lovie and yourself were brought in, was the original plan going in to rebuild the team, or was Lovie with all of his experience expected to take a team that was pretty talented defensively and get instant results?
I personally think its the later and the whole rebuild narrative was being thrown around only after and due to the 2014 disaster.
    Wish me luck!

  28. The Buc Realist Says:

    @largobuc

Truth be told it was the latter!!! rebuilt after hitting rock bottom!!!

Try to throw in the Question, ” Out of all the coaches brought in, Is there someone that has suprised NFL GM Licht as the Real Deal??? Who would he put as the new coach that will have a great effect for the team???

  29. Clodhopper Says:

I’m loving this. I think it’s great. I’m a podcast kinda guy tho. If you made them longer, you wouldn’t get any complaints from me!!

  30. Mike Johnson Says:

ASj has gotta know this is his last yr in a Bucs uniform if he does not perform. Hell, maybe he wants to leave. Brate will be the man at TE. He will be the most reliable. Uses his hands and head well.

  31. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Clodhopper, I was thinking the same thing. I listen to about 30 different podcast at work ranging from sports, space science, news, history, ect… I’d like the Ira podcast to be more in the 30 minute rage, but beggars can’t be choosers! Maybe they will be longer once the pre-season begins. I’ve been hoping for a JBF podcast for a while now. Maybe Lee will get into it once the season starts.

  32. Rob in Land O' Lakes Says:

    Chris says:

“Lol, feel like I’m listening to 1950s radio here with the Cadillac plugs.”

Chris, Just be thankful they’re not sponsored by something else….

“Speaking of the Bucs putting on pads here soon Ira, we’d like to thank our friends at Tampax…”

  33. bucbob Says:

wake me up when the Bucs have won 3 in a row…lol I’ll ALWAYS BE A BUC FAN….SURVIVED THE 0-26…guess I can survice the ASJ, weak ofensive line,drama….etc….GO BUCS!!
