Licht Describes “Christmas” Kwon

Jason Licht talks Kwon

How important is Kwon Alexander, the Buccaneers’ rookie playmaker on defense last year?

No, the anecdotal evidence, Tampa Bay losing four straight games to close the season when Kwon was suspended, is not enough.

Bucs general manager Jason Licht talked about Kwon last night and described an inspirational figure.

“What drives Kwon and what makes Kwon special is just his pure love for the game,” Licht said. “I mean, this guy is just like a 7 year old the night before Christmas every day. ‘I get to play football tomorrow.’ He loves the game and it’s infectious.”

Yes, Kwon was infectious last season, a 21-year-old hitter and ball hawk, calling the signals and managing to make plays in Lovie Smith’s defense. Just imagine what happens when he’s coached up to help against slant passes!

Licht talked about how he believes all the rookie impact players last year will make that often-referenced “leap” that second-year guys often achieve.

In Kwon’s case, that would be awfully fun to watch.

No doubt Kwon is going to Licht up the place just like he lit it up last year before missing the last four games. A preseason game will be a nice fix soon. My 8 year old Samsung 32 incher bit the dust a few days ago, replaced it with a 50 incher same brand that was half price on sale being a last year model. Ready for some bigger Bucs.

Make life miserable for the other team’s offense. Send 1 more defensive player at the quarterback than are blocking for him. The 1985 Bears perfected this. Their quarterback may complete a few passes in the 1st quarter, but soon he’ll develope “happy feet” from getting hit every play. Quarterbacks with happy feet don’t do to well in the 2nd half. BLITZ ’em !.

This guy is already one of my favorite players, the intensity and drive he plays is rivaled only by Winston. If he can improve on pass D (he’s already good at getting pics) but if he can improve his coverage, he has a chance to be very special.
Also I think the ATL game last year after his brother was murdered showed not just us fans but also Kwon what he was capable of.

Presently Kwon is a undisciplined Telvin Smith. We need Mike Smith to undo what Lovie taught last year and make Kwon another Telvin Smith.

I think Mike Smith is going to turn and use Kwon as the key defensive player to take our defensive over the top…I think Kwon is going to be all over the field
