Jameis Has To “Look, Look, Look”
June 9th, 2016Joe will say this about Mike Smith’s defense, his troops believe in it and are pumped up to play in it.
They love its unpredictability.
Check out what Alterraun Verner had to said after practice this afternoon at One Buc Palace. Verner can tell the defense and its many looks present a significant challenge to America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston.
“That’s what’s going to make it harder for offenses because they’re not going to know what’s coming,” Verner said. “You can see that from Jameis out here, where he has to like kind of like look, look, look, which is a good thing for him because he’s getting used to it. And then, you know, it’s a good thing for us to try and disguise it for him. Because he’s a smart football player. He’s a smart guy, even going into his second year. So for us to try and get the confusion in him is going to help us translate on the field.”
This is great stuff. Joe can only imagine how much easier practice and less stimulating practice would be for Jameis if Coach My Scheme was still running the Bucs’ defense.
This can only help Jameis’ development and, still, this team is very much all about Jameis.

Glad they kept Verner. I like him as a person and I think he was held back as a player. I’m feeling better and better about this season as I read more of this stuff. Looking forward to notes on the joint practices and preseason games.

The lovie bashing is just too easy. It is just pathetic how easy Lovie makes it to bash him.

Love it for Jamies & the Defense.
Winston can get a ton of live reps against different unpredictable fronts so that he’s familiar with looks he didn’t get to practice against last year outside of games. The joint practices with other teams should be good as well.
I’m excited to see how this D game-plans differently week to week based on the opponent which is going to be a new concept.

One more…
So you’re saying that my scheme didn’t prepare Jameis for a 34 defense?
Tennessee ready
Football doesn’t start until November
Don’t need to score more points
Ok. That will do.
