Rookie Bucs DE Noah Spence shares a key memory

Your Buccaneers’ rookies were on the practice field today.

Hooray! And some of them were talking.

Defensive end Noah Spence was drafted in the second round, in part, because of his success at Ohio State University — before he was booted for a drug problem.

Spence’s lone two-sack game at OSU was against Penn State, where he squared up against a tackle named Donovan Smith. Of course, Smith is now Tampa Bay’s left tackle.

Joe had private time today with Spence and got his scouting report on Smith.

“I remember his arms were long as hell. He had a good inside punch,” Spence said.

No. Spence has yet to talk to Smith about the Buckeyes’ 63-14 victory. That might not be a sensitive subject. The rookie might want to save that smack talk for training camp.

    Sorry Nole!

It was you who dubbed the nickname

  7. unbelievable Says:

Basically Nole was saying he looked like Spawn in a video that was posted.

I agree, and the homer fan in me envisions him being Spawn on the field, destroying everything in his way with a blazing trail of fire as he tears the opposing QB to shreds.

Well, a guy can hope… right?

He made Donovan look really bad that day. Six pass rushing snaps, 2.5 sacks and a fumble…Donovan blocked him once.

  15. Owlykat Says:

Good to have Spense when he gets to pads will be the kind of challenge to help Smith improve his pass protection–Smith’s chief weakness!

He let’s his skillz do the talking for him. He’s not the flashy type that’s gonna do some ridiculous dance after every sack. He’s a very Humbled dude. Nothing wrong with that.
