No. 63 of 2016.
Talk about the irony of using an iconic Buccaneers number.
In case you haven’t heard, the NFL Network is broadcasting of the Top 100 NFL players of 2016, voted on by the players. The series is broken down into 10 weekly segments.
Tonight, Nos. 61-70 were revealed and Gerald McCoy came in at No. 63.
Of course, No. 63 with the Bucs is retired, having been worn by the Original Buccaneer, a Hall of Famer, the late Lee Roy Selmon.
Many players were interviewed for the McCoy segment, including Bucs teammates safety Major Wright, linebacker Lavonte David and America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston.
Said Jameis, “In the locker room, [Gerald] is Bruce Banner. On the field, he is Smash. … I’m just glad I only have to practice against him.”

Major Props 2 GMAC for making the list again – even though he dropped a few spots. But the Bigger story here – and one that should inspire everyone. Is the return of Navarro Bowman.
After that devastating, career ending knee injury (for most). I thought it was a wrap for one of the best – that I’ve ever witness play the position. But for him to come back and dominate the way he did last season- was nothing short of amazing.

My only hope for him is that he stays healthy, as we have rarely seen a full 16 game season from him. If he is top 100 when hurt 60 % of the year, imagine what he could do in a healthy 16 games!

Despite a lot of Bucs fans saying he should be off the team,Gerald is the guy other teams focus on and plan against. He is a major player.

With 32 teams GMC makes it within the top 2 for all teams…..on average…..quite an honor.

I can see why Buc fans are so demanding of GMC, somebody has to be the scapegoat for long lasting Buc futility. This season will be a prime opportunity to shut up the naysayers. Go GMC!

Agreed. Some of you guys around here think he sucks and should be traded for a 3rd rounder.
