Bucs Punt Connor Barth
May 2nd, 2016At least the Bucs didn’t torture kicker Connor Barth by bringing him back to (cough) compete for a job this year.
The Bucs did the honorable thing by advising Barth he was as necessary as warm beer in the aftermath of Tampa Bay’s big investment in rookie kicker Roberto Aguayo.
And Barth did the honorable thing on Twitter this morning by wishing Aguayo “a long career in Tampa.“
Remember, the Bucs still have 2014 kicker Patrick Murray on the roster. He’s healthy again after blowing out his knee last preseason. Look for Murray to go through the motions in training camp and preseason, as he showcases for a potential trade.
Hey, Jason Licht coughed up tight end Tim Wright for rookie kicker Kyle Brindza last year, the Nuke Laloosh of NFL kickers. So maybe Licht can find a crumb for Brindza in August.

Much respect for Barth. He didn’t have to put nearly that much effort into that post. Class act!!!

That reminds me, were is Tim Wright? Don’t we have to sign him so we can trade him 3 years on a row?

“the Nuke Laloosh of NFL kickers” – hilarious and spot on!

“What’s this Joe know about Kicking? If he’s so good how come he’s been in the minor-webs for the last ten years? If he’s so good how come Rachel wants me instead of him?” – Nuke LaMurray

Barth was my hometown Buc……will miss him….he is truly a class act and a good kicker….I think he will find a new team.

We’ll be signing him again mid season.

Good Luck Connor. Glad to see Barth and the Bucs display class in dealing with the new acquisition.

Barth made 84% of his FGs last year. Our 2nd round pick made 80%

Get over it, Mike.

Barth was an excellent kicker before the achilles injury, he never was the same after it. For those just bashing the guy it was just a pick-up game of basketball and it was for a charity event. Best of luck to Barth, I hope he catches on somewhere, but also glad the Bucs got a new kicker who will hopefully be here for the next 15 years.

I would have waited to cut Barth just yet. One never knows in this league. Injuries ect…. Dude is a class act though. Played his string all the way to the end. Some team will swoop him up quickly. Hope he does not come back to haunt us like a lot of our cuts have done in the past.

Class act. Good luck Connor.

buc 305… ha ha.
Bonzai… just an illustration of how tough / cruel the nfl is.

Brindza had a cannon for a leg… just nerves of jello.. couldn’t kick in a straight line.

Connor was always such a classy guy, I’d expect nothing less from him.
Best of luck to you in the future Connor, we’ll miss ya.

So they released him then?

I don’t have a problem with drafting a kicker in the 2nd, I have a problem with drafting a kicker with Barth in the roster. Farewell to my favorite kicker again. Bucs kept playing with him. Hope he finds a smart team to play for many years
