“Banks, You Lost Your Mind!”
May 26th, 2016It was a rough start to practice today for Bucs cornerback Johnthan Banks.
And Joe happened to have the official JoeBucsFan.com video camera rolling.
Yes, it’s May, and practice mistakes are nearly meaningless. But this one stands out because Banks made the error twice in a row during a basic drill, and a position coach called him out both times.
It’s all in the video below.
Stick with Joe for much more from One Buc Palace this afternoon.

Bon Jovi playing in the background…Chucky would say sure fire way to inject sum “juice” into practice, GO BUCS!!!

Mistakes are going to happen while learning a new system. I am a fan of Banks and hope he does well. I personally think he would make a good free safety. But its way too early to make any changes that drastic. Let training camp play out then go from there. We have competition and depth at the CB spot. Should be exciting to watch it all play out.

Really? Really? I just clicked on this…? Really?
My dude made a misstep in a footwork drill, on the first effing day of practice? Really?

Speaking for Pablo
“Pablo is not worried that Hohnthan & Heraldine will step up their game this year…..as will Henkins….or we can be sure the Hoes will be on top of them.”

^^^^^^^ LOL Pablo

I like Banks but as a corner he should have much quicker feet than Conte.

@FUNKYMONKEY
I agree. Banks is long enough to be a decent FS. But he is a weak hitter.
I have said before that he should be a BIG-RECEIVER specialist.
Line him up against the other teams tall receivers and TE’s.

JB the only corner with experience and length, he ain’t going no where…

A new system and one on ones are one thing. This is a drill. A drill that players practice, what, daily. If this was Banks’ rookie year, you could look the other way. I’m not saying it’s panic time but this guy’s been in the league long enough to know how to PRACTICE!
May 26th, 2016 at 3:38 pm
@bucsfanman…I totally agree and i’ll take it one step further and say its time to hit the panic button….as you said its a drill….this is a “db 101” type drill….this only shows he’s made zero improvement on his technique since last year or maybe before that….whats telling is that he was next to conte….in my playing days cb’s would line up and do drills with each other and safeties would do the same….I think he would be a good safety that could match up well with tight ends….last year joe posted a video of banks screwing up and db coach(byrd) ripping him as well….you practice how you play…you practice mistakes, you’ll make them in the game….practice doesn’t make perfect….perfect practice makes perfect….im rooting for him but…time will tell…GO BUCS!!!!

Well said young brotha. Yeah unfortunately I see the exact same thing – everytime I watch him practice. Lackadaisical movement – Choppy backpedal – Tight hips.
I wonder sometimes – does he workout? I know I lot of kids pickup trainers in the offseason – even a specialist or two. But It seems like he’s content with his game.
O’well

Bad practice habits – will get cut quick if your a UDFA.
May 26th, 2016 at 9:08 pm
Those are basic mistakes that he shouldn’t be making.
May 26th, 2016 at 11:15 pm
Did you guys forget who Banks had for a position coach the past 2 seasons???? Of course he is terrible at the basic stuff. His coaches the past years were the worst in the Bucs history.
Keep up the hard work Banks, you have the talent. Just work on that technique and you will be alright.

I love Banks. He is set to ball out and continue his development now that coach “my way or the highway” is gone. Remember, They didn’t give this kid the Thorpe award for nothing.
And Banks is a corner, not a Safety. He’s way to skinny to play at FS. Plus he’s not a great tackler either, two things you gotta have. Plus we need his size at corner. He’s the only guy we have over 6ft.
