War Room Memories
April 18th, 2016Yes, the draft is less 10 days away. Joe can’t wait, for obvious reasons, the least of which is being about tapped out on typing about the draft.
Roughly two months from the NFL Scouting Combine to the draft itself is too long. It shouldn’t be more than six weeks, tops.
Anyway, in a cool BSPN video, former Bucs rock star general manager Mark Dominik had a sitdown with Prim Siripipat and discussed the behind-the-scenes scenes in the Bucs’ draft war room.
In short, Dominik explained how he laid the law down and the only voices to be heard were those answering questions from Dominik.

Hands down the Worst Gm in Bucs History!!!!
Funny, he heard the voice of Butch Davis to go get LVD54!!!!! But the pop-star has been stealing any spotlight he could ( just like when he took credit for the contracts of Mike Greenberg)!!! that is why he works on TV!!!!
April 18th, 2016 at 8:52 am
When will the media stop listening to this clown and labeling these failures as experts?
Horrible GM
April 18th, 2016 at 8:53 am
“Drafting offensive linemen is overrated.”
April 18th, 2016 at 9:03 am
Its no wonder that the higher dominik rose in the organization the worst the Bucs became!!! With his “whichever way the wind turns philosophies and draft for need” turned the proud bucs into arguably the worst franchise during his 5 year reign of incompetence!!!!
April 18th, 2016 at 9:23 am
Joe will undoubtedly defend his rockstar by saying he was better than Bruce Allen who helped construct a playoff roster multiple times with multiple teams while the rockstar had a losing record as GM and was awful at his build thru the draft strategy
April 18th, 2016 at 9:26 am
He made some astonishingly great “rock star” moves and hires during his tenure, but in hindsight, his drafting philosophies and priorities were shown to be pretty lacking. Bruce Allen was a notch or two better. And, compared to Dominick, Licht is another sphere of reality. Top 5 in the league, at least.
April 18th, 2016 at 9:26 am
There’s something very time share salesman-ish about the Dirtstar Dominik. Not that there’s anything wrong with that…
April 18th, 2016 at 9:41 am
@william walls
what were these imagined “great” moves and hires???? I have got to hear this!!!!
April 18th, 2016 at 9:51 am
Anyone think that if Rockstar would have taken Norman in that 5th round he might still be the GM?……..Nah!
April 18th, 2016 at 9:55 am
I can’t wait to hear Matt Millen explain why you need a 1st round receiver EVERY YEAR
April 18th, 2016 at 10:13 am
This is the stuff you don’t hear or know about. Great Video!!
April 18th, 2016 at 10:26 am
When Barron goes to the pro bowl next year the rockstar will have draft four pro bowlers in five years and traded for Revis who is still going to pro bowls. So five years five pro bowlers. Buc realist you are so jaded so can’t see what he was asked to do and what he was allowed to do.

Funny, Dom is more of an “expert” than any of us on here posting.

Damn, android and jbf dont get along. At least androind on my samsung galaxy lite.
April 18th, 2016 at 11:06 am
Was Dom asked to offer Fat Albert Haynesworth more $ than even the Redskins?
April 18th, 2016 at 11:19 am
The fact that Dominik doesn’t work in the nfl anymore is proof how incompetent he was. He was so astute, and such a great talent evaluator that not even the Browns hired him. This dude is the epitome of a joke. All the connections and all his friends in the industry and he got a media job. I wish him the best. But I’m glad he’s not the Bucs GM anymore. Still don’t know why Joe likes this dude. With as many high draft picks we had my grandmother could’ve drafted better. Smh…good riddance!
April 18th, 2016 at 11:28 am
Sorry but Bruce Allen was the worst GM!
April 18th, 2016 at 11:41 am
Bruce Allen certainly wasn’t great, but he was NFL executive of the year with the Raiders, and went to the playoffs with the Bucs (2 division titles), and the Redskins (1 division title).
Dom went to the Hair Salon.
April 18th, 2016 at 11:56 am
If hair counted more than brains Dominick would be a rock star.
Wait a minute?
GM = brains
Media Talking Head = hair
Eureka!

Largo
I have issues on my HTC ONE, but only for this site.
April 18th, 2016 at 11:58 am
1.) Licht
2.) McKay
3.) Allen
4.) Rockstar
April 18th, 2016 at 12:00 pm
Allen is successful only because of Gruden. Jon. Not Lil brother. That seems ready to change over the next few years.
April 18th, 2016 at 12:06 pm
“I miss it”
DOM should cherish those war room memories. There will certainly not be any new ones created.
Josh Freeman, Brian Price, Arrelious Benn, Adrian Clayborn, DaQuan Bowers, Mark Barron.
That list speaks for itself. 6 premium top 50 draft picks flushed down the toilet by the rockstar in 5 years. (7 if you count the 1st round pick from the Revis trade when we could have just signed him as a FA the following year). How about two 4ths for Stocker, a 3rd for Myron Lewis….
Um – why is anyone listening to this “expert GM’s” opinions?
April 18th, 2016 at 12:29 pm
Mark Dumbasheck.
April 18th, 2016 at 1:19 pm
His moves we’re not that terrible personnel wise, not great but not terrible. And most or all first time GM’s that are fired don’t just get rehired to GM another team. Had he fired Chip Kelly, he most likely would have been viewed in a much different light. He had no say in Raheem and his first time GMing was a complete incompetent organization on most levels so he was set up to fail really.
April 18th, 2016 at 2:13 pm
@Joseph
Very true. The Glazers have destroyed quite a few careers since Gruden was fired, as far as forcing employees to work in an organization that was incompetent from top to bottom. Basically run like an NFL Walmart with absentee owners.
Looks like that has all finally changed.
Very happy with the GM, the coaching staff and the players since Licht was brought on.
April 18th, 2016 at 5:17 pm
@Bob in Valrico
LOL, fans writing articles!!! maybe you should read it all before you link to it!!! He has Adrian Slowborn, Brian Price, Josh Freeman and other as good draft pick and starters!!!!
And the fact in a later article you said that the “waste of money” was equal of GM Bruce Allen and dom!!! but I only had metioned all the failures of his first year!!! I thought you would remember of the huge free agency failure of 2012….My mistake… clearly you are a pop-star fan and cannot be reasoned with to see the truth!!!! keep grazing sheep!!!!
April 18th, 2016 at 6:47 pm
@ realist
if you read the comment at the end about rich Mckay then you would know who built the team to respectability. It was neither Bruce Allen nor Mark Dominik. Not particulally Dominick fan..But I am no fan of Bruce Allen either.
If he had kept the players like Sapp and lynch then maybe. There is more articles about bruce allen in the same vein. Neither did such a stellar job
that should be wasting time debating it.But all Bruce Allen had to do was keep the talent that won the super bowl and we would not have had such bad seasons after the superbowl.5-11 in2004 and 4-12 in 2006.believe the downward spiral started long before Mark Dominick.
April 18th, 2016 at 7:31 pm
Howard may be a little premature in anointing Licht as #1 Bucs GM of all time. He hasn’t eclipsed McKay’s epic construction of the 2002 Superbowl team…yet.
Stay tuned, Bucs fans!
April 18th, 2016 at 7:55 pm
Would love to see that prognostication come true,
Howard C.
