Tuesday Practice Notes
April 27th, 2016Here are notes Joe jotted down watching the first Bucs practice yesterday under head coach Dirk Koetter.
* America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, clearly making a point, so far, to sprint between various phases of practice. Greg Schiano is smiling in Ohio.
* Bucs defense quickly learning they have an animated defensive coordinator on the practice field.
* Bucs co-chairman Ed Glazer patrolling the sidelines
* Joe seeing up close how small Brent Grimes is reinforces how much the guy has achieved as an undrafted player.
* Make of this what you wish: Brent Grimes is wearing Toast Jenkins’ old number, 24.
* Good to see Vincent Jackson running patterns. No knee braces.
* VJax and Mike Evans doing a drill where they take turns leaning on each other’s shoulder while the guy getting interfered with is catching a pass — to simulate catching a ball in traffic. No hollering for a flag in this drill.
* Jameis hits Evans right on the money on a slant over the middle which generated applause from teammates. Sign of things to come?
* Wide receiver Bernard Reedy (St. Petersburg native) loses the immortal C.J. Roberts on a buttonhook-inside route on left sideline.
* Assistant coaches seem very hands-on and teaching but not that much yelling.
* Flying Mike Glennon. Can’t pump fake a wide receiver open so he takes off up the middle for about an eight-yard gain. Remember: This is underwear football. No pads. No hitting. No tackling.
* Rejection! Lavonte David skies high to bat down a Jameis pass.
* Players seem pretty excited and vocal as seven-on-seven drills continue.
* Glennon on a rollout (!) hits Tevin Westbrook for a nice gain down right sideline.
* Jameis, as he breaks down team huddle ending practice: “It feels good to be out here. It feels so good to be out here, baby! Feels so good on three!”
* Koetter said practice was so fast-paced, he couldn’t focus on specific players.
* Didn’t see it, but apparently Evans tweaked something after a long catch. Koetter said he was told it was very minor, whatever “it” may be. Koetter claimed he thought Evans got “overheated” but wasn’t sure.

Juvinille ass Evans can’t take the heat
April 27th, 2016 at 7:29 am
Wow! I’d like to see your soft like twinkie filling jelly belly self get out there and do something! Evans through all his problemas is a hard core mofo. He plays hard everytime. His shadow is tougher than you. The people who complain and point out faults on this board are redunkulous!

Evans being a soft ass again. Jameis needs new WRs

If you guys watched E:60 last night you will find out there is nothing soft about Mike Evans. All you fake tough guys!
April 27th, 2016 at 8:39 am
@Crusty
EXACTLY!!!
April 27th, 2016 at 8:40 am
I saw some of the E:60. I think this environment, with Jameis leading the guys to hang out together off the field, will be beneficial for Evans (and others).

Joe
Great job fighting the crowd. I am assuming practice was extremely crowded with scouts and team executives drooling over Mike Glennon. Being the greatest QB to hit the market since Montana it must have been frightening fighting all scouts and team executives to gain a good view. Was it like the stock exchange with gm shouting out draft pick offers. I can’t imagine any qb needy team not willing to give away all their draft picks for such a hot commodity.

EXACTLY what Crusty Said!! Bunch of internet punks here.

not making fun of Glennon. I was legitimately concerned for Joe’s safety. It’s not everyday such a great qb is available. Tickdr, Couch Fan, bucsfan20 and a few others have finally convinced me how great Glennon is. Given Glennon’s greatness and the fact he is available, I assumed it was a mad rush and our dear host Joe might have been in jeopardy.

I wonder what Mike Evans thinks of the K-Y Hands moniker and is anyone willing to say that to his face?

Exactly.
Aside from that…this first camp is all about evaluation. If Winston is winded and overheated, it will show him what he needs to work on before the next camp.
It’s a good thing, because Evans isn’t the type to be lazy. He knows the arrival of Winston can make his a superstar and eventual hall of famer. If he puts in the hard work.
So for those of you who insult him and call him soft…who hide behind newly created usernames…all you are doing is showing your ignorance.

@Tmaxcon:
Well, the results are finally tallied, and you are officially the biggest hater of MG8. It wasn’t even close, though the Joes have tried for months. (Honorable mention to TruBucFan22 as well) Congrats!
Since I have spent more than $50,000 on tickets etc. over the last decade or more, I am pretty sure I will still support the Bucs, regardless of whether they trade Mike Glennon.
In 18 games and one quarter, MG8 has thrown for 29 TDs vs. 22 TDs for JW3 after 16 games. He has only thrown 15 INTs. He managed those numbers while playing behind a weak offensive line, with receivers like Tiquan Underwood and Tim Wright, and a coach that everyone loves to hate, while playing against the toughest schedule in the NFL (including 5 games against the top four defenses in 2013). His reward for all of that was to be made a backup without even a competition. His response has been to be the consummate professional at every turn. Yet, you hate him because he only managed to win 5 games.
Well, the savior, the messiah, America’s quarterback only managed to win 6 games, despite playing behind a much improved offensive line, with the 2nd leading rusher in the NFL, with VJax and ME13 as receivers, and with Dirk Koetter as his offensive coordinator against the WEAKEST schedule in the entire NFL. (look at the teams at the bottom of the defensive rankings for 2015, and see if you spot any of our opponents there)
I have been saying for months that I hope Mike Glennon gets traded.

I know that this is not a popular opinion, but I strongly believe that a team’s record is very much influenced by their strength of schedule. Not the record of the teams in the year before they play them, but rather in the year that team is on your schedule. We all know that teams change from year to year based on new coaching, free agent pickups, new draft choices, and the progressive maturation and improvement of your players. so, a team that is 10-6 one year may have dropped to 4-12 in the year following due to aging, injuries, or other factors.
In 2011, the aggregate won- loss record of the Bucs’ opponents was 141-115.
They played only 5 games against teams with records under 0.500, and they went 4-12.
In 2012, the aggregate won-loss record of the Bucs’ opponents was 128-127-1. They played 9 games against teams with records under 0.500, and they went 7-9.
In 2013, the aggregate won-loss record of the Bucs’ opponents was 147-109.
They played only 5 games against teams with records under 0.500, and they went 4-12. That year’s schedule included NINE games against teams with at least TEN wins.
In 2014, the aggregate won-loss record of the Bucs’ opponents was 123-130-3.
They played 9 games against teams with records under 0.500, and they went 2-14!!
In 2015, the aggregate record of the Bucs’ opponents was 124-132. If you take out two games vs. the 15-1 Panthers, the remaining opponents were only 94-130! They played 9 games against teams with records under 0.500, and they went 6-10 against one of the softest schedules in the league.
We’ll see how they do against the NFC West and AFC West next year.

Stop talking common sense with Tmax. The guy doesnt care for common sense he is still bitter that Glennon kicked FreeWee right out of Tampa and will continue to hate him and personally attack him every chance he gets. Let him live in his own little make believe world.

Couch Fan
Let’s be clear… I was never a freeman fan… I just am NOT a glennon fan. Obviously none of the qb needy teams in the league are glennon fans either…
