Rough couple of months for Alterraun Verner and Johnthan Banks, culminating in tonight’s drafting of Gators cornerback Vernon Hargreaves in the first round.
Johnthan Banks and Alterraun Verner had one tough offseason.
It’s been all downhill since their relief when the Bucs fired Coach My Scheme.
Since, the Bucs have inked four-time Pro Bowl cornerback Brent Grimes. And tonight, the Bucs have drafted Vernon Hargreaves with the No. 11 overall pick, following a savvy trade down with the Bears.
Will 20-year-old Hargreaves (21 in June) sit on the bench and ease in? Or will he play because he earns a job? Will he be coached to play the slot?
Lot of questions ahead for the Bucs and all their cornerbacks. Oh, yeah, They also signed young veteran cornerback Josh Robinson quickly after the free agency dinner bell rang. The new regime obviously likes him, too.
Verner is making huge cash compared to Banks. For Verner’s sake, he better have a healthy and solid training camp. The Bucs are no longer married to him at all.

He better be the god damn starter, if the Bucs just used the 11th pick on a back up then they’re even dumber than I thought!! Ugh!!!

Not crazy about this pick. Hargreaves is just too short to cover the likes of Kelvin Benjamin and Julio Jones.

Oh he is going to be expected to start going high in the first round. It is a curious pick with like 17 million already spent on Grimes, Verner, Robinson, and Banks. I suspected from the minute we signed Grimes that VH3 would be the pick because Grimes is the perfect model of what VH3 could be as a pro.

Yeah, I’m thinking the Glazers are going to fire Licht for selecting the best CB in the draft and picking up an extra fourth rounder. 😂

Better depth at DE than CB in late 1st and 2nd. Will learn from Grimes. Not who I wanted but it’s who we got so let’s try to get behind the kid.

He was ranked the top corner by all and projected to be drafted the first corner and was not the third but the second corner drafted. U people blow my minds. It’s no wonder I never come to this comment section and only read the articles by joe

Don’t like the pick. Most/many of the top DE’s will be gone by the time we select in the 2nd. I see a few hear call the selection brilliant at CB? That draft party you are at must be a mother…Keep smoking and drinkin. You’re gonna need it come pass rush time!

Verner is probably toast. Decent chance he gets released after the draft.
I’m not a fan of the Hargreaves pick, wanted Corey Coleman in the worst way, but I’m not gonna sh!t on it too much right now.

For everyone saying he is too short. Please punch yourself in the face and shut up. How many God damn 6-2 220 lb corners do you think exist? Get real. Hes between 205-210 lbs so he’s thick, and is a good tackler. 90 percent of the corners in the nfl are 6ft or less. Please STFU about his size

Now nothing. The Buccaneers are not any better from this pick. The offensive and defensive lines each still need at least one major impact player from this draft.

Really guys? By almost all expert opinions, and Licht’s (and staffs) opinion, VH3 is a top 10 pick and a top, if not the top, corner in all of college football. Welcome to Tampa young man!!! Now let’s kick some azzzz!!

If they cut a corner, and they have no reason to do so, they’d just make the position weaker which would make zero sense. Also I read Verner got $2-mil towards his salary for this year already so they’re not cutting him.

Solid enough pick. VH3 was a good enough pick. Great ball skills. Mike, you very rarely play with two corners on the field. Most of the time there is 3, many times there are 4. Every pick that Noah Spence, Ogbah, Dodd, Billings, Butler drop the better for the Bucs.

does this open up a possibility of moving banks to safety. i think he would be an upgrade over the incumbents plus the more playmakers/ ballhawks on the field the better.

I can’t read any more of all these articles comments Joe. VH3 wasn’t my top pick but most of these people on here are saying that this was the worst pick in years and Licht should be fired. I did have some drinks at the bar, but these bandwangon’ers really make me wanna puke
