Kwon Not Limited To MLB
April 14th, 2016Today’s media session at One Buc Palace wasn’t all that interesting.
Bucs AC/DC-loving gneral manager Jason Licht was largely coy in his pre-draft talk. Understandable.
New Bucs OLB Daryl Smith was so quiet you could hardly hear him ,and Joe sat about 12 feet away and Smith was using a microphone.
Things quickly changed when MLB Kwon Alexander stepped to the podium. Alexander didn’t hold back and gave meaty answers to questions, especially to those who mistake his size for meekness.
Kwon was asked about the difference from Lovie Smith’s defense to Mike Smith’s defense. Kwon noted there was a big difference, specifically schemes. Kwon said Mike Smith employs many.
In fact, in some defensive calls, Kwon said he won’t even be playing middle linebacker. And he’s good with that, so long as he is on the field.
“I just want to play,” Kwon said.
Already Joe is intrigued. Sounds like Smith is going to not only do his best to confuse quarterbacks, he is going to put players in positions to succeed. What a novel concept.
The only thing confusing about Lovie’s defense was how it was so inept in even slowing down a slant pass.

What a novel concept.

You can say that again.

Sigh.
The wait.
April 14th, 2016 at 1:43 pm
So, we’re supposed to stop ripping on Lovie now, right?
April 14th, 2016 at 1:46 pm
A fellow Buc fan re-posted the NFL network Bucs v Eagles game highlights from this past season the other day in our group. I joyously sat and re-watched. However my joy was tempered when the first highlight of the game was shown. Imagine this: Sanchez throws a slant that goes for about 40 yards and a TD against our D… #NotMissinLovie.

Oh crazy the New Smith couuld have used Mark Baron and perhaps revis and verner and banks…..
April 14th, 2016 at 1:50 pm
who cares about lovie and his defense…he’s out the building and out of the state….I don’t care if kwon played defensive end as long as it produces wins….
the defenses mike smith ran in atl were very soft…teams would be physical with them and they would fold…I hope he spent a year learning from his mistakes while watching football in his basement….or it may be back to the basement…GO BUCS!!!!
April 14th, 2016 at 1:52 pm
duthsty …they got rid of Revis for the crap sandwich D that they put out on the every week for the past 2 years.
Thanks. That’s something I never pondered. OMG…I’m going to be sick.
April 14th, 2016 at 1:53 pm
The field*
See ya got me flustered.
Oh draft get here soon.
April 14th, 2016 at 2:22 pm
Uh, everyone should. The reason both Dirk Koetter and Mike Smith are running the show is directly related to Lovie getting run.
People who dismiss the immediate past are the same kind of folks who keep sticking their hand in a fire and wonder why they keep getting burned.

Uh, everyone should. The reason both Dirk Koetter and Mike Smith are running the show is directly related to Lovie getting run.
@joe…so when should we stop caring?…when dirk gets canned?…GO BUCS!!!
April 14th, 2016 at 3:02 pm
Why can’t we ALL just get along?!!!
Bye Felicia!
April 14th, 2016 at 3:05 pm
Ok, I’m confused.
So we keep ripping on Lovie?
April 14th, 2016 at 3:08 pm
Lovie Smith – America’s best loved EX-Bucs coach!
April 14th, 2016 at 3:14 pm
I’m thinking Kwon will be playing OLB in the 3-4. Makes sense to me. Put your fast guys on the edge. And the bigger guys like Daryl Smith in the middle.
April 14th, 2016 at 3:19 pm
@Howard…im with you…don’t understand the need to keep bashing our ex hc…its like talking crap or bashing an ex girl friend every time you get around your friends….after a while your friends start to get tired of the same ol story and are quick to change the subject…GO BUCS!!!
April 14th, 2016 at 3:30 pm
Yeah, but if you don’t keep bashing her you might forget what a bitch she was and get another head coach who does the same thing…er, I mean girlfriend…..damn, I’m so confused.
Cmon draft!
April 14th, 2016 at 4:17 pm
It seems lately that the only good things that happen to the Bucs is because of failures……Lovie goes 2-14…..we get Jameis…….Lovie finishes 0-4…gets run out of town…..we get Koetter & Smith.
I’d like to see some good things happen because of our successes.
April 14th, 2016 at 4:48 pm
I watched the Kwon PC…man, that kid is like watching a conbination of Warren Sap and Dereck Brooks during a PC.
April 14th, 2016 at 5:33 pm
I don’t know how many of you are linked to Kwon’s Twitter..but I don’t think the kid sleeps..( I can say kid, I’m 50)..lol…
He works out all times of the day..I see him in his posted videos working out with other Bucs..today he was paint balling with Donovon and Jameis..among other Bucs..
This guy is not only a workhorse and beast on the field, but for being 21 years old, he’s a PR machine..Those answers were straight on and excitement producing..
This is the season I am feeling more excited than ever..I feel it in my bones, this year will be mind blowing..
It will be a very long 5 months..lol…
April 14th, 2016 at 6:09 pm
LOL @ Howard.
Yes you have permission to keep ripping on Lovie.
April 14th, 2016 at 6:23 pm
If Lovie caused us agony for two years while he was here, then we get to rip him for two years after he’s gone. Fair is fair.
April 14th, 2016 at 7:06 pm
Bashing Lovie is fun. Until it’s no longer fun, carry on. I suspect the Lovie bashing will continue until the Bucs start playing real games this year.
April 14th, 2016 at 9:41 pm
Bucs fans are gonna wish they had Lovie to Bash after the 1st half of the upcoming season. If DC Smith is counting on what he has in our secondary..he will be hit. Bucs had better draft tough..defensively this time. WHO..will the fans here Bash when the losing starts? I can’t wait.
April 15th, 2016 at 12:06 am
God I wish we had Barron, Revis, and Bennett. Add those three back to our roster and we would be a playoff team.
April 15th, 2016 at 1:17 am
To all my fellow posters who can’t keep LOVIE’S (name) off your lips, take a trip to the mid-west, The Realist will be paying!
April 15th, 2016 at 10:36 am
It’s gonna be very exciting to see what this defense is gonna look like. I’m very intrigued with the fact of moving Kwon to the outside and ith inside possibly. I like the idea of having the speed of LVD and Kwon on the edges rushing the passer.
