“Huge Needs”
April 20th, 2016Joe always has liked “The Professor,” John Clayton of BSPN. Smart guy, really nice guy. And he pumps out quality football content.
In a BSPN video (see below), Clayton picks out three teams that will define the draft. His second team? The Bucs, because of “huge needs.”
And yes, we can guess what those needs are: pass rusher and a cornerback.
“I look at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers playing a key role in this year’s draft,” Clayton said.
But then, it gets interesting.
Clayton seems to think if the Bucs hit on drafting a cornerback and a pass rusher, the team will be “golden,” and Clayton predicts, a playoff berth in 2017 is a real possibility.

Stop playing it safe with the predictions. A playoff berth THIS YEAR is a real possibility.

The Kia dealer has trashy stupid spots…..but….they are obviously very effective!
Don’t admire his style but major props for his success.

FLBoyinD the Playoffs are very possible this season. My belief is we may very well exclude the vikes. Teddy B stated after they’re home lost to the hawks that he would have to step up and start driving the football down field more. Sound like apprehension to me. We all know Jamies “ain’t schead”. JW in second year will surpass Teddy altogether. That is why I believe the playoffs are realistic this up coming season.

I’m really sick and tired of playoffs in ’17 and HUGE needs. B effing S.
We have OBVIOUS needs but they are not that glaring. It’s not impossible to imagine Jack Smith getting ten sacks…he was on pace for that both years with us till injury. Gholston is improving. We get McDonald back..I could play the same game with the offense.
Bottom line…the difference between this year’s Bucs and Carolina, Denver, NE the “good” teams is we do not have their margin of error. We need for everybody to stay healthy and have a decent if not career year.
We are like the rest of the NFL. HEALTH will be a huge factor in our success or failure. We are not deep enough yet to sustain injuries and IMHO that’s the difference between true SB teams and us…but we certainly can contend for the freaking playoffs!
I watched the Lightning last night and thought of the Bucs. They remind me of the Lightning two years ago. Young stars coming into place…we found the main ingredient…a world class goalie and our GM has put together a great team with a super coach.
Seems to me the Bucs are on that same trajectory. Perhaps I should more accurately type I hope the Bucs can continue to follow that Lightning formula.
GM drafts good players…excellent coach molds them…owners step back and just provide support.

Does Clayton mean the 2017 season or this coming season which if the Bucs go far would stretch into early 2017. The HUGE guy sounds like a carnival barker or Florida State Fair barker, people love their barkers. Cars ain’t selling too good, a big slack off happening.

I have to play some Slayer in the background when I listen to Professor John Clayton!!!!

Go after Ramsey!! We will be glad we did for years and years. The JW of the defense. Go get him!!! Those two will be shutting teams down!! It will be a huge mistake to let an opponent get him, I’m telling you we will be very sorry!

All teams have..Huge Needs. Its just there are about 6 or 8 teams who are outstanding at evaluating there needs and the overall availability of talent. Our Bucs have not been one of those teams..as of yet. Of course we will say..our schedule was god awful tough and we had to many injuries. Or..we need more time to gel. All..just excuses. Funny how the top teams..never make those excuses. WINNING..is all that matters. Everything else..is..toilet flushing material.

we need a consistent pass catching threat that will help out so much and ASJ is a bust, having 83 back full speed will definitely give jameis a security blanket and evans has to not drop passes like he did last year and I have blind faith that the new DC smith will have common sense to not let the Rams rookie QB light us up for 5 tds this year

I think a playoff push should be expected this year, even if it’s just the last wild card spot. It’s a stretch maybe, because we’ll be working in several new defensive starters and a new scheme… But the offense is solid and could be explosive, the D should improve, the game management and penalty situations should improve. I think anywhere in the 8-8 to 10-6 range is doable.
