Wow..a must see for sure..wishing Mike so much success in his life as a football player and may he find stability in his marriage and family..and what a good looking kid..
I think its time for some of the fans to appreciate Mike Evans more and give him a little slack. The comparisons with Michael Clayton need to stop. He has very little experience at WR for a player at this level. By working on his craft, one more year interacting with Vincent Jackson, continuing to improve his chemistry with Jamies and improving his relationship with the refs he can be great. Go Mike!
Man I’m sick of all the hate on ME13.. it was his second year in the league, his first year facing #1 CBs all year, he puts up 1,200 yards on a “down” year and everyone and everyone gets so damn happy to knock him for some drops.
Birdman there are a lot of parakeet poster’s on this site. Follower muta@$!as, all it requires is one to say some dumb s@$! and other join in just for the sake of. ME will ball out this season and many of them will jump right back on his Johnson I can asure you.
I think it’s a combination of things. 1 being the timeliness of those drops Many were on 3rd down with the game in contention. 2. It makes America’s qb look worse. He may very well have won RoY with the padded stats. Those extra catches may have won more games or at least led to more opportunities. There would be no Winston/Mariota argument. No Winston/Gurley discussion.
Buc1987 Says “He’s going to hear it. From either blog sites or from the stands. He had a great rookie season then had that second year slump.
So we’re supposed to sit back and play nice?”
You are completely missing something, ’87.
A LOT of WRs have second year slumps…and they usually result in sub 1,000 yard seasons…sometimes less than 400.
Think about it…if 1200+ yards is a slump for Evans…that makes him better than any WR the Bucs have drafted in what? 25 years or more?
I’ll take him…slump and all.
Michael Clayton had a slump too. He went from 1,193 yards in his first year (and 7 TDs) to 372 yards (and 0 TDs). He never even topped his second year after that. In fact, his CAREER YARDS are 2,955 (over 8 years).
Mike Evans career yards are 2,257 (over 2 years) already.
Evans has ALREADY beaten Clayton’s career TD by 5.
But Clayton is a horrible comparison. Let’s compare him to someone like Marvin Harrison.
Marving started more games in his first two years. He had 836 and 866 yards for a total of 1702. In that time, he had fewer TDs than Mike Evans too.
Too old?
Okay, let’s compare Mike Evans to the current standard of elite WR. Calvin Johnson Jr. Megatron. Would anyone here NOT have wanted Calvin Johnson drafted as a Buc?
Johnson had only 2,087 yards his first two years…and only one more TD than Evans.
I mean…how many comparisons do you need?????
While Evans isn’t Calvin Johnson, he certainly isn’t Michael Clayton either. Stop acting like he is. The kid had more yards his second year than his first. His TDs dropped, but considering a LOT of WRs have much, much worse slumps in the second year, I think he’s been great.

What does facing #1 corners have to do with catching balls in your hands? I think he’ll get better but please make sense when defending him.

No way man. I was sick of losing 5 years ago.
I’m an Evans fan of course, but not for long if the 3rd season is like the 2nd.

I didn’t know the story about his father getting murdered. Crazy.

I was talking with an UBER driver Saturday, and he said the Bucs have no WRs. I was like…this guy obviously is a fringe fan.
He didn’t even know Evans had 1200+ yards last year. He even said “They have a good tight end though…”
ASJ is who he meant, lol.
ASJ may turn out to be good, but so far it’s all talk and this should be his “prove it” year.
