“I Really Believe In That”
April 19th, 2016America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, was talking again this week.
This time it was to Rick Stroud of TampaBay.com. Stroud seemed interested in Jameis’ feelings about the coaching change. Joe talked to Jameis about this in January (here’s Part 2) and Jameis offered soome different answers this week.
Per Stroud, Winston said he’s excited to see Koetter’s impact on the entire football team via his brash style that contrasts that of Lovie Smith.
“I think he just brings that confidence,” Winston said. “Coach Koetter is real outspoken. He’s going to be real with you. His whole thing is owning it. Put your stamp on whatever you say and I really believe in that. Lovie’s big thing was accountability. It basically is the same message but coach Koetter is more vocal.”
To keep things real, every NFL coach harps on accountability in some form. What separates them is how much they really mean it, and how they pound that message through to players.
Clearly, the Bucs’ extraordinary rate of penalties under Lovie was evidence that his accountability measures failed. There are other examples, too.
Koetter is a very different head coach, and Mike Smith is a very different defensive coordinator and teacher.
Bucs fans should know by November whether the team is headed in the right direction.

I played a lot of football in my younger days. Youth league, high school, and small time college for a couple of years
The best teams were always the ones with the best chemistry, where we were having fun. I was on some very talented teams that went nowhere and on marginally talented teams that had phenomenal seasons bc we were all brothers and having a blast playing the game. I think Koetter is going to bring the fun back to this organization.

This is very obvious!!! Might as well ask someone if they like winning instead of losing!!!! And wait until the defensive players get to training camp and preseason, that is when it will really dawn on them what a upgrade DC Coach Smitty is over coach my scheme!!!!
April 19th, 2016 at 6:54 pm
Jameis is proving how intelligent he is and knows true leadership. Koetter is a leader of men and the team knows it. Not the cake walk schedule Lovie had and pissed away, but Koetter isn’t going to follow in the former head coaches contant blaming and excuse making.

Yes all NFL coaches preach accountability but it always seemed false coming from Lovie.
Were his sons held accountable for the worst performance by a back end of any defense in the NFL? Did they keep their jobs? Not really but perhaps that’s why the Glazers were forced to fire Lovie. When it got right down to where the rubber meets the road Lovie was willing to hold everybody accountable EXCEPT FOR
Himself…his family…and his friends whether coaches or players.
In short Lovie seemed like a hypocrite. I think Koetter will be the first to throw himself under the bus if his team lays some the rotten eggs Lovie’s squads did.
I started to list the incredibly abysmal performances starting with that total embarrassment on opening day! But there were just too many blowouts and embarrassments the last two years to put them all in a post.

@StPetebucsfan
I think the number was 13/19!!!! That is 13 double digit loses out of all games!!!!
And coach my scheme was not only a hypocrite but condescending when some one would just ask a question!! and the local media and the sheep just bowed down!!!! I guess they did not want to rock the cart and thought it was the start of 1997 all over again!!!
It was funny how some mistook 2 or 3 tweets when coach my scheme was fired, and thought they were showing love for the coach!!! when in reality it was just having to start over and learn a real defense this time!!!!!
I say again, wait until preseason and listen to how excited the defensive players will be!!!!!!

Watching “Hey Rookie”, Jay Hayes putting Noah Spence thru drills

Amen Creamsicle. It all comes down to attitude and heart. You can’t teach heart, you’re either a fighter or you aren’t but when you have to fight as a team then you need the right attitude and trust in your brothers. As I have said before I think I would take Jameis as my partner in a foxhole if it came down to it.
April 19th, 2016 at 7:57 pm
What my bro SB just said.
April 19th, 2016 at 7:58 pm
All, that talk means nothing, this G.M. and coaching staff better wins some games early in the season.
April 19th, 2016 at 8:00 pm
Nole!!!! What is good man?
April 19th, 2016 at 8:01 pm
The primary difference is Lovie is an idiot. Dirk did his job and Lovie didn’t, other than gut the team of decent players that didn’t fit his phantom Cover 0 system.
April 19th, 2016 at 8:02 pm
WHO..will you Lovie Haters bash once or IF..the losing starts?
April 19th, 2016 at 8:03 pm
Lovie, ten minutes left in the half, down by 20, better take a knee.
April 19th, 2016 at 8:03 pm
You. Haha
April 19th, 2016 at 8:05 pm
@ Mike Johnson….aka OneLove
The real question is what site are you going to run to When.. the winning starts?
April 19th, 2016 at 8:07 pm
Strength of schedule? check.. Excuses? Injuries..Check. Need more time? Check.
Who’s fault will it be? The ghost of..Lovieee?.
I..can’t wait.
April 19th, 2016 at 8:16 pm
I’ll be able to tell by week 2 if we are headed in the right direction. Last season every game was the same, defense sucks and offense tries to play catch up. Anything different than that will be a step in the right direction.
April 19th, 2016 at 8:22 pm
The “real” question is who will the baiting brothers (mike johnson and bighogheinous) change their names to again!!!!!
April 19th, 2016 at 8:33 pm
Preach it, Realist!
I wish Thomas 2.2 was back and commenting. I would love to hear his take on the Bucs’ offseason/draft/sheep fans… 🙂
April 19th, 2016 at 8:34 pm
Way to go Lightning!!! Soon you won’t be the only Tampa team in the Championship hunt.
April 19th, 2016 at 9:33 pm
Realist
I had forgotten about the condescension but you’re correct…that grew very tiresome..especially after those horrible losses.
I can handle arrogance from a winner. I don’t necessarily enjoy it but I understand it and if somebody can back it up….but it’s truly obnoxious when someone with an abysmal record puts on any airs.
April 19th, 2016 at 10:03 pm
Mike Johnson must love it when we lose. He’s a Lovie fan, not a Bucs fan. Our current coaches might not be the answer, time will tell, but Lovie defitenly wasn’t. I’m saying this as a Lovie fan coming in. I was wrong about him.
April 19th, 2016 at 10:04 pm
SB With Jameis, Kucherov and Bishop, baby! Go Bolts!
April 19th, 2016 at 10:09 pm

April 20th, 2016 at 4:31 am
I think it is pretty obvious that the Glazer family finally realixed the the Tony Dungy method worked well for 1 person. Tony Dugy.
April 20th, 2016 at 6:27 am
@ The Buc Realist: You can’t stop bashing because you are who you are, in your posts, and their are others with your same mentality, that break the buck, bigoted ass attitude, Realist I only post here and the name won’t change, maybe you should try getting it right, it don’t matter I see you! Was that what you wanted, The Buc Realist, yet you call me the race baiter, man check yourself!!
April 20th, 2016 at 8:53 am
Happy Birthday Jameis! We fired your close friend and HC Lovie Smith. LMAO what a great present for your franchise QB. Of course it was the right decision in the end but Jameis thought he was loosing Dirk as well. Couldn’t imagine what was going thru his head at the time.
But the bucs aren’t dumb, they realize their biggest asset and number one priority is #3 and that is the MAIN reason Koetter was promoted to HC. Continuety is the key when devoloping a young franchise QB.
April 20th, 2016 at 9:23 am
@mike&@bighog….dont worry….dirk and licht are under extreme pressure to make the playoffs….they cant afford to lose or someone will lose their job…time will tell if dirk m.smith and licht are as good as everyone believes they are…one things for sure…if the losing starts, dirk will be in the line of fire….GO BUCS!!!
