Joe talks to Bucs owner Joel Glazer about his fandom
So you think you’re more of a hardcore fan than Buccaneers co-chairman Joel Glazer.
Think again.
Joe likes to get a little personal with Team Glazer during the annual Glazer-Joe private session at the NFL Owners meetings. During a more intimate moment last week, Glazer revealed that he’s every fan to the extreme.
JoeBucsFan.com: Fans are more plugged in than ever. You know, people are reading everything they can, consuming everything NFL every minute, it seems. Do you find as an owner, if you flash back 10 years, now are you and your peers consumed more?
Buccaneers owner Joel Glazer: I think everybody is. I think in this day and age you can’t not be more consumed. I mean, you know, I have all the apps. I have everything, and you have so much more access to everything. So it’s nonstop football. I enjoy it as much as anybody or any fan. You can’t get enough. I love the sport. If you love football, where things have gone and what you have access to is just tremendous.
Joe thinks it’s pretty darn cool to have owners who live, breathe and crap football. That’s the way it should be.

If the Glazers “live, breathe, and crap football,” then I’m George Washington. Just because he gave Joe a nice a canned answer doesn’t make him Jerry Jones. I don’t think the Glazers are bad owners by any means, but let’s not get carried away about their involvement here.

He gave Loive Smith full control of a roster obviously he has no clue what’s going on. Every move / contract Lovie made in Chicago after winning his power battle was a failure so why did he give a proven failure full control of a roster. Glazers are not the worst owners but let’s not confuse them with passionate fans.

I don’t make it a habit of questioning a person’s faith……or their fandom. If I were to start comparing others’ enthusiasm for the Bucs to mine….it would be unfair and a waste of time.
The real question is….How will Joel measure up to Miko?

If Joel Glazer LOVES football and LOVES the Bucs to the degree he is implying – perhaps he would care to explain why the Buccaneers spent less $ than EVERY OTHER NFL FRANCHISE FOR 8 STRAIGHT YEARS and in doing so cast this franchise into irrelevancy when he had one of the best coaches in the league.
Or is that too “hard-hitting” of a follow up question even for Joe? Apparently so…

I like The Glazers. They may not be the most football savvy Owners in the league but there continual quick firings of bad coaches tells me they love the Bucs and want to win and are doing everything they can to put a winning team on the field for us.

My biggest knock on the Glazers is I feel they make decisions based too much on fan opinions or grumblings. I feel like if Bucs fans start complaining enough about something the Glazers will react, and that’s not the best way to go about running an NFL organization. Fans will ALWAYS be the first to overreact to everything. I just hope things like blogs and Billboards don’t have as much influence on the Glazers’ decisions as it seems.

Very well said sir!!! I agree. It’s rude and presumptuous to judge other folks faith or their fandom. Only they know what is in their hearts.

This gave me a good chuckle…I can’t see them getting bent outa shape like the hardcore fans do and screaming and cheering on a TD. I just can’t see it. I want video evidence.
