Matt Ryan “Backed Down” From Brent Grimes
March 14th, 2016Make no mistake, the Bucs added a big-time player in cornerback Brent Grimes, a guy that came with the Tampa Bay coaching staff having serious inside knowledge of his ability and practice habits.
Grimes was introduced today at One Buc Palace, flanked by Dirk Koetter and general manager Jason Licht.
Koetter, the former Falcons offensive coordinator, shared a gem from his days across from Grimes.
“I know first-hand from my time going against Brent in Atlanta in practice. You know, I haven’t seen Matt Ryan back down from too many corners,” Koetter said. “But Matt would tell me every day, we can’t throw this route on that side because Grimes is over there.’ And I’d [say,] ‘What? We can go against that guy”
“I think he had about 15 picks that first season I was there.”
In addition to loving the Grimes signing, Joe loves what Grime’s presence can mean for the development of America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston.

I love what it can mean for the development of the rest of our DB’s. Grimes swagger and toughness are sure to rub off. I look for much better years from Banks and Verner because of the Grimes signing. I feel like we’re getting more than just Grimes talent on the fieldd…he is a geniuine vet who wants to win!!!

Lets not sleep on the fact that the new DB’s coach Maxie coached Verner in Tennessee that led to his one and only Pro Bowl showing. If he can get the swagger back in Verner, than I think we have a solid backfield. Still waiting on a great safety though.
