Jason Licht Lauds The Rock Star
March 9th, 2016Unreasonable Bucs fans grumble to this day about former Bucs rock star general manager Mark Dominik. It’s really sad.
Well, the current guy who runs the whole football show at One Buc Palace, Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht, can’t disagree with the haters more.
In fact, though not mentioning Dominik’s name, Licht thanked Dominik today in his press conference discussing the re-signing of Doug Martin. He was openly thankful for drafting the Muscle Hamster in the first place.
“He’s a special guy,” Licht said of Martin. “He’s now in an elite category of running backs who made it [with the team that drafted him] into their second contracts. I am very excited for Doug and being able to reward one of our own.
“It was a great draft pick. A great draft pick by this organization.”
Take that haters!
Not sure anyone noticed but the first three players Dominik drafted in 2012, Mark Barron, Martin and Lavonte David, are now very rich men all in their second NFL contracts. Barron just re-signed with the Rams for some $45 million.
Don’t blame Dominik for Lovie Smith not being able to figure out how to use Barron like Jeff Fisher did. That would have meant Lovie would have had to change his beloved scheme! Couldn’t let that happen.

Wow, first day of free agency (4th day in reality) and all us bucs fans get to talk about is signing a RB we probably could’ve gotten way cheaper 2 week, and a former GM great day to be a bucs fan SMDH

clearly you aren’t worried about your credibility……

Then NFL GM Licht better thank Coach Schiano and Butch Davis who were the ones responsible for that 2012 draft!!!

@JOE. So far this week feels like the week before Christmas. you have high hopes and excitement for the possible and then as you unwrap your presents and realize you’re not getting what you truly wanted………….Yeah, it feels like that. Over 50 MILLION in money to spend to acquire talent and we let every quality PROVEN Defensive End slip through our fingers. Life of a Bucs fan

Why kick a guy that is down and out? He didn’t criticize Dom for the bad picks and gave him credit for Martin….that just shows class on Lichts part.
March 9th, 2016 at 5:29 pm
And who the hell cares if a GM is a rockstar/ac/dc kinda guy, go join a freaking band, I want a GM that can attract quality FAs, yeah he hit a home run last year in the draft, that happens once in a blue moon, if we weren’t the bucs, and our GM had a horrible FA track record, he’d be done, I’m hoping something happens in the next couple of days, and Greg hardy isn’t gonna cut it

he sucked…own it

Long live the pop star.

But we got Dougie back, a round of soft drinks all around.

GMs who have even 1/2 a clue as to what they are doing – get jobs SOMEWHERE in the league 3 years after losing their last job…
March 9th, 2016 at 7:19 pm
Matt Millen selected future Hall of Famer Calvin Johnson. So, clearly he was a great GM.
March 9th, 2016 at 7:32 pm
Dominik was horrible. Do you really expect Licht to say anything less positive. He wasn’t singing his praises earlier last year as he shipped off the seventh overall pick from Dougies draft for pennies on the dollar.. Too bad too, we need a SLB
March 9th, 2016 at 8:04 pm
Yes, obviously Licht couldn’t be happier with the roster he inherited from the “Rock Star.” It took him to the worst record in the league his first year, without a QB or much beyond the three players he has now resigned (Martin, McCoy and David). So 5 years of drafting roughly 35 players and Licht is clearly overjoyed by the third, and probably last Dominik draft pick he will have the fortune of giving a big contract to. Way to go Dom!

Hmmmm, looks like he aid a great pick buy the ORGANIZATION ….. didn’t say Dom ? I personally think Dom’s picks were not very good until Schiano came aboard, IMHO.
