Selective Trash Talker Mike Evans
February 4th, 2016Wait a minute. Mike Evans likes to boast on his Buccaneers Radio Network show about his trash talk prowess.
Evans enjoys jawing with opponents
But one of Evans’ arch division rivals, Pro Bowl Falcons cornerback Desmond Trufant, says Evans is a pretty quiet guy. Joe asked Trufant about Evans’ trash talk skills after a Pro Bowl practice last week, and Trufant says all he saw was a business-like receiver.
“Honestly, he wasn’t that bad with me. I don’t know about with other guys, but we was just competing out there,” Trufant said. “You know, it was a mutual respect. It was cool. I love competing against guys like that.”
It’s noteworthy that Evans did little against the Falcons in 2015. His numbers were meager. In two games, he had just eight catches for 109 yards, though he did draw his share of flags with Trufant defending against him.
Perhaps Evans needs to trash talk more against Atlanta to get himself on track?
Trufant had nothing but respect for Evans, praising his physicality and catch radius. “We definitely going to be going at it for years,” Trufant said.
Also noteworthy is that Trufant, 25, made the Pro Bowl, his first Pro Bowl, despite just one interception last season. That’s one hell of a show of respect from fans, coaches and players. The 2013 first-round pick is a guy America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, will have to keep an eye on for years.

All Mike Evans needs to do is focus on catching every pass JW3 throws his way…My old football coach used to say “when you’re good at what you do you don’t have to talk trash, the fans talk for you”…

Was that game before or after Evans publicly announced he needed to shut up more and play better? I honestly can’t remember, but it could explain his lack of trash talk with trufant.

Evans is letting Johnnys problems affect him. Seriously, shut up and play football. When you don’t lead the league in drops or even in the top half, then talk until then…. Shhhhh

Evans is going to get his opportunities! It’s going to be fun watching him and Jameis grow into one of the best duo’s in football!!

I don’t mind Evan talking a little trash after he catches the ball. He really needs to stop the crying to officials antics though. trash talking does not cost games but stupid penalties and untimely drops do.

Just like #93 is finding out, #13 is finding out. #3 is the alpha dogg. The drops and smack talk will soon be under control. Not too concerned about it.

Speaking for Pablo
“Pablo talks some trash….but usually people don’t understand Pablo’s trash. Pablo talks $exy trash to 87 while table dancing because 87 tips real good…..the Realist just watches and complains about the prices….never tips….just mooches off of 87’s dance”

Thia was his sophmore year. Thw year you realize hw hard you actually have to work to be elite. It took doug martin three years which is why Im nervous about them overpaying him. Then again I am confident that winston is going to have a huge affect on how guys show up to training camp moving forward so its a toss up

I really don’t have a problem with trash-talkin’. I’d like to see him back it up a little more. To me, it just makes things more interesting. It’s the constant chirping at the refs that annoys me.

Just STFU and catch the football!!! Jameis really looks good with receivers who catch the damn ball…….
February 4th, 2016 at 6:18 pm
“I love competing against guys like that.”
Because all those drops make him look good!

All great receivers and great CBs trash talk period. If you don’t, then you are not playing the position to its potential. I. Not saying ME should go all ODB over his opponents, but you gotta let them know what you are gonna do to them before you do it. Ask Randy Moss, ME did!
