Josh Freeman Has A Home

Josh Freeman has a future with the Colts

Josh Freeman is loved

Indianapolis isn’t just the home of the NFL Scouting Combine, it’s Josh Freeman country.

Joe asked Colts coach Chuck Pagano about Freeman’s future this afternoon.

For those unaware, the former Bucs franchise quarterback was the Week 17 winning QB for the Colts.

Somehow, Freeman was pulled off the street and looked like a competent starter with less than a week of preparation. Yes, Joe watched the whole game. Pagano even delivered a passionate postgame speech that, in part, focused on Freeman, aka The Coney Island Thrasher.

That love was real.

“That was probably one of the funnest weeks, most exciting weeks that I’ve had since I’ve been here,” Pagano told Joe today, referring to Week 17 preparing for and playing the Titans.

“Bringing Josh in and, you know, Ryan [Lindley], and the job that our coaches did, the job that Josh did in orchestrating that win over Tennessee was phenomenal. Again, you know, the roster’s fluid. We’re going to continue to look at it and, you know, we’ll see if Josh is going to play. [He’s on] the 90-man roster. Probably going to have Josh around to sit there and compete.”

In the season finale, Freeman was 15-for-28 for 148 yards with a touchdown pass and an interception that wasn’t all on him. He showed mobility, eluding the rush and running for 24 yards.

Freeman, 28, is currently on the Colts roster and is not a pending free agent.

    Good for him.

  2. softastissueMcCoy93 Says:

Good for Josh. If Talib and Pacman can grow up and play in the league, why can’t Freeman.

  3. The Buc Realist Says:

Was the game played late at night? or was he just sober for a couple of days? (allegedly)!!

Since he should no class on the way out of Tampa and lied about other, I can only wish injury and misfortune for him!! If would apologize to the fans of Tampa I would just hold my tongue on this issue and let the man earn a living!! Until then I will only speak the truth about the piece of garbage that is known as JFro-6 pak!!!

  4. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I guess he finally accepted is permanent role as a backup…..

  5. astrobuc Says:

I hope he has a long career ahead of him as a starter or backup. I love a good comeback story. He has the talent, hope he has gotten his head on straight.

  6. StPeteBucsFan Says:

I’m not as harsh about it as Realist but I certainly take his point.

JFro was a true cancer in every sense of the word while he was in Tampa.

I don’t go so far as to wish him an injury…but I do not care about him..at all.

    He’s dead to me.

  7. Pickgrin Says:

“Probably going to have Josh around to sit there”

I fixed the quote to be accurate by just dropping the last 2 words. Maybe Josh can learn a thing or 2 from watching Luck and become a serviceable backup.

  8. Buc1987 Says:

I was watching that presser and heard someone asking about Freewee.

just knew it was you Joe.

  9. Tiny Tim Says:

I find internet tough guys like the realist funny. He knows good and well he would not speak like that to Freeman’s face. Good luck Josh!!!!

  10. Buc Neckid Says:

Back Up Quarterback is the best Gig in the NFL.
Always the Fan Favorite on a BAD Team
Make $1-2M per year just standing there with a Baseball Cap on
Play the game you love all week long when the bullets aren’t firing for real.

    Here comes the Glennon Mob….

  12. Mike Johnson Says:

Note to Buc Realist…its hard to have any class when departing a Loser like Tampa! YOU sir..do not know the whole Freeman story here in Tampa. Neither do I. But my bad. After all you Mr. Nostrademus huh? Apologize to Tampa fans? For what? The team and its mngt being consistent losers? You are a..piece of work..sir!
Ohh and by the way, Good for Josh Freeman. If a lot of other players and coaches who fell made it, Why can’t he be given another chance

  13. simeon 97 Says:

Talib and Pac man have talent. JF doesn’t

  14. Bucsblud Says:

Anyone who wishes injury on someone is an idiot and complete scum. Karma is a B*tch. Be careful what you wish on others.

  15. Bucsblud Says:

Mike Johnson, looks like realist is the one with no class.

  16. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

Still waiting on the results of that NFLPA investigation. Anyone of you Freeman defenders want to throw out a guess as to why it went away?

    (spoiler) BECAUSE HE WAS LYING.

Screw Freeman. He was handed $26 million by Teflon Dom, and then tried to screw over the team when he couldn’t handle Schiano.

Did you see anyone else wilt from Schiano? No. And you know Schiano was a hardass on everyone. Right or wrong, Freeman was the only Charmin player that couldn’t handle the heat that Schiano handed out.

The only good thing about Freeman? He led us to Jameis.

  17. Bucsfanman Says:

Ouch Realist, a little harsh. In principle, he did leave us high and dry. In my opinion, he alone set the franchise back a few years.
    Hey, whatever! Good for him.

  18. The Buc Realist Says:

You can fail, You can be a Bust!! But all the lies and trying to bring others down is where all the venom really comes from!!!

Note to all, I did point and laugh when a certain (at the time ) starting QB was carried like a dead body out of a certain establishment in Tampa!!

  19. BigHogHaynes Says:

@ the Buc Realist: Trump must be your on your family tree!! Let the man make a living, he don’t owe a Buc fan a damn thing!!!

  20. chargedcbh Says:

do you really think he would tell you anything different? C’mon Joe! Would he tell you he plans to cut Josh?

  21. mac Says:

I am very happy for Josh Freeman… Hopefully he can learn a few things by backing up A. Luck, like how to read a defense or throw an accurate pass and be a consistent leader…

  22. The Buc Realist Says:

    @BigHogHeinous

Why would I extend him the courtesy, when he did not himself on the way out by lying and tried to bring ruin to the Franchise!!!!…..Hopefully he will slip, pull an ACL, and poop his pants as he is being carted off like trash, as the fans boo him in a meaning less preseason game!!

  23. ptwalk Says:

Realist you act like he actually did something to you personally. It’s just a sport and entertainment, nothing more. How can you hate someone you really don’t know?

  24. Maze Says:

    Quitter

  25. Bo Says:

Freeman delivered some great throws, moments and wins for us…If you can’t respect that, your not a “Real” fan! Wish him all the best.

  26. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

^^ Real fans don’t support players who try to trash the team that drafted them. Traitor.

  27. Buc1987 Says:

Thanks for quitting on my season. The season I bought season tickets for.

    F-off Josh.

  28. biff barker Says:

Real Buc fans know this guy is a loser.

    87’s right. Fark off Freeman.

  29. Bo Says:

    Go back to Jersey

  30. SteveBucsFan Says:

This dude torpedoed the team. I can’t believe people defend him. Like 87 said he did hurt the fans who paid for season tickets that year. Selfish and should be black balled.

  31. Tbbucs3 Says:

Good for Freeman, he can develop into their franchise 2 string behind luck cause all they have now is Hasselback and Whitehurst. Sounds like that was a fun week for Pagono, I think they keep him they like his expirence, better QB than Mallet.

  32. Buccos Says:

I forgive Freeman for the way he left us. Like someone else said. He led us to Winston. Everyone deserves a second chance. He once was my favorite player before he got all skinny. 2010 was a great season.

  33. Danati74 Says:

He didn’t exceed what he was brought here to do. Most of the players and coaches haven’t. Every since the SB win this team has become the NFC South dweller. I really don’t put that on him. He still holds some records here, so he wasn’t that bad. All we can do is be happy we are headed in the right direction, right now. Go Bucs.

  34. Trubucfan22 Says:

Not sure how freeman was a cancer his whole time here. Besides the last month with the bucs, i thought he handled everything great and was a good teammate.

And freeman wasnt the only one who had issues wih schiano. Winslow, Micheal Bennett, Blount, Talib, Mike Williams, just to name a few. They were all good players for us at one point. And their buc career were ended abruptly because of schiano.

I don’t blame Freeman for being upset with schiano. Schiano put him on the trading block and tried to sign other QBs, right after freeman has the best Buc QB season in buc. Sure freeman had his issues. But he didnt deserve to be exiled the way he was. Even his teammates were pissed that freeman wasnt named a captain that final year. It was a hige conspiracy they all thought. Schiano lost the locker room before the season ever began. And then Schiano execute freeman publicly with his benching. Benching your starting QB in his contract year was in poor taste. Especially considering he didnt deserve to be benched in the first place.

Freeman gets a lot of blame for his handling of that situation. He could have and should have took it like a man. But Schiano put him through the ringer for no reason. If I was treated like that by my employer, i would have went out guns blazing too. I would have tried to burn down the building as i left it.

  35. Holy Facepalm Says:

True, cry me a river. Those who have seen him in S. Tampa late on school nights know he did nothing to help us.

    Or himself.

    F him. Forever.

  36. Hawaiian Buc Says:

I don’t like him either, but it is flat out wrong to wish injury on someone, especially over a game. Someone’s priorities are way out of wack.

  37. Buc1987 Says:

“Probably going to have Josh around to sit there and compete.”

    Camp meat….thee end.

  38. Buc1987 Says:

    Trubucfan22 Says:

“Especially considering he didnt deserve to be benched in the first place.”

Wrong…those first 4 games were atrocious QB play.
