Feeble Five Years

LovieJags

Part of an ugly period in Bucs history.

Yes, Joe brought word yesterday about how the fanbase isn’t as tortured as one might imagine. But that doesn’t mean Bucs fans are happy. In fact, Bucs fans are irritated, and for good reason.

The second decade of the 21st Century has not been kind. And there is unrest among Bucs fans. Sunday, from the very fingers of the Custodian of Canton, eye-RAH! Kaufman of the Tampa Tribune, comes news that even surprised Joe. The Bucs are the used toilet paper of the NFC for the past five seasons.

After reading that Twitter, Joe has a mess to clean up as Joe Frisbee’d a bowl of Wheaties across the kitchen in disgust.

This is simply inexcusable and an outrage. And the Lovie Smith Mafia has the nerve to be appalled at his firing, still? Can you imagine?

Thank God for America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston. If one man can lead the Bucs out of this darkness, it is Jameis.

I was appalled by Lovie Smith’s hiring. But without Lovie and his terrible coaching there would be no Jameis for the Bucs. But I’m glad he’s gone.

  2. CC Says:

And hows that indoor practice facility coming that was promised?

  3. Tampa Tony Says:

Not disillusioned, just mad. Really, really mad. Re upped my tickets after Loser Lovie was fired, but I’m just sick of the losing, the bad free agent signings and overall complacency with being losers.

  4. The Buc Realist Says:

Not only was it just the “losing” but the last 2 years were just beatdowns!!! I read somewhere where 1 out 3 games was an official blowout score!! There were just so many games during lovie’s tenure when most games where over by the second half!!!

You know that Jfro and lovie were the only two classless people to be cut and fired and never thanked the fans and lied about the organization on the way out!!! Totally classless!!! Now I am made too Joe!!! Now I have to clean up my Cappuccino and croissants I just threw!!!

  5. BigHogHaynes Says:

Why would I want to give (BUC fans a thank you card), after being pushed under the bus and BACK-STABBED. He owes you, me, and no one else anything, my I remind all we had the same GM under LOVIE’S regime…………………..O yea LOVIE helped bring him in!

  6. bucs4life86 Says:

As much excitement there was for the lovie family reunion, the 3 yr he was here this franchise hasn’t been that embarrassing and puthetic since the bucco Bruce days. I mean we’re used to being below average but lovie took it to new heights. 59-14 on TNF? And Joe Flacco absolutely carving our secondary up. 28-0 before I could sit down with the chips and dip. Thank God this day are over. Right? Lol. I all the faith in the world JW can led us back to being proud BUC fans and bring a playoff game back to the bay. The word playoffs just sounds to good to be true in Tampa these days. I almost forgot how to spell the words “playoffs” jeeze. Lol jk. Better days are upon us. GO BUCS BABY!!!

  7. tmaxcon Says:

Joe, please no more pictures of Lovie the BACKSTABBER… He did enough damage no need to keep showing him.

  8. LargoBuc Says:

Lovie was a huge disappointment. I thought there were a couple of bright spots last year but it just was not enough after 2-14.

  9. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

I thought Schiano deserved another year but was never in favor of the Lovie hire, I just wanted to move on from the Dungy era and it was evident from the first few days of the Lovie era that it was a bust, I have an extremely positive feeling on Koetter and the new coaches and Licht and the direction of the team

The Gators built an indoor practice facility in 6 months why are the bucs dragging their feet

  10. mike Says:

@largo… we had no business going 2-14. Glad we did bc of the draft but the 2014 Bucs were 6-10 at worst. Only Lovie could go 2-14 with that roster.

  11. StPeteBucsFan Says:

We always seem to overlook part of the problem that has finally been resolved!!
And it was a significant part of the problem!

ManU was a terrible distraction!!! It not only gobbled up $$$ that should or at least could have been invested in the Bucs…it sucked up all the Glazer attention!

ManU is why we got Rah and Schiano…two guys who performed as might have been expected with rosters that were never going to be top shelf as long as the money kept going to England.

Those $$$ effected the franchise in more ways than just players and HC’s…the assistant coaches and their budgets were also effected.

But the ManU massacre is behind us…it’s now actually a good thing as another revenue source for the Glazers and we can see the difference in $$$ spents as well as Glazer involvement.

Whatever anybody can say about the Glazers they were clearly involved in selecting #3 and that took some cojones. Hind sight is 20-20 but at the time that represented a gamble. It’s paid off big time and they deserve credit.

Now look at the rest of our budget…we get a Mike Smith and Jay Hayes to come to Tampa. That wasn’t cheap. And we get Todd Monken which was another expensive addition to our staff. They didn’t get him cheap and that’s probably why they tagged him as an OC so they could pay him.

It’s all good guys. ManU…Rah..Toes on the Line…and basement Lovie are now behind us. We have a franchise QB…and a PROFESSIONAL coaching staff!

  12. Sapp, STFU Says:

I’ll say it again. Was not a fan of Lovie’s hiring. But with all of his short-comings, he did get us a franchise QB. Few teams are able to secure a franchise QB without completely sucking. Even fewer teams are able to get the selection right to obtain the QB.

So, I cannot completely write-off Lovie as terrible.

  13. Lord Cornelius Says:

Schiano was just as bad as Lovie in terms of blow out losses. In general we’ve had one of the worst coached teams in the league since we fired Gruden.

Schiano was absolutely terrible. Gave up on talent that did well elsewhere (Bennet). Did not maximize talent here (Revis). Got blown out frequently and outcoached. Lost the locker room & had no respect. Screwed up the teams first 4000 yard passer. Worst 2nd half team in football – averaging like a FG a game in the 2nd half for scoring.

I’m not sure Lovie was as bad; but the fact that it is debatable is a really bad indictment in itself.

  14. BigHogHaynes Says:

Buc4life86 LOVIE was here two years!!

  15. Buccfan37 Says:

I’m still waiting to hear from Lovie on what went wrong. On second thought… expletives deleted.

  16. The Buc Realist Says:

    @Lord of Corn

You are wrong, I read in article that that was dicussing Bucs losing ways. They counted Blowouts as double digit losses! which lovie with 12 as opposed to Coach Schiano (9). Though one can argue that there were more games with lovie that were over during the 3rd quarter and the Bucs got garbage time to close with 9 or less points!!!

Coach Schiano was mandated to “fix” Jfro. how can you “screw up” something that is broken??? Funny no one talkes about the huge fine total that Jfro accumilated in 2011!!! How Boomer said that Jfro was not serious about football and was in the club to much, while Coach Schiano was just moving into his office!!!

Maybe you just do not know, because you are not in the area, but there were huge issues with JFRo before Coach Schaino walked thru the door!!! And mainly was the 3 year Rah/Dom party that made the Gronk cruise look like a funeral!!!!

  17. Mike Johnson Says:

So much for talk. Yep..put the blame on past coaches. Man, I hope this new guy wins. Cause you…..Our new golden Boy on his white horse and chariot are gonna save the day fans,,..will turn on him quicker than the 2 minutes it takes to heat my morning oatmeal! It takes time to build a mean Kick- A.. Defense.
But..we now have our next plug in 2 yr wonder at the gate..chompin at the bit to run. And YOU..You fickle hungry, no football chemistry understanding fans..ready to take his head off if his halo..disappears!

  18. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

As long as Koetter, et al do common sense personnel moves, I am all for giving the guy time, Lovie did some of the dumbest personnle and coaching moves in the history of the NFL once he got here…getting rid of 3 NFL starters on the OL and then grabbing the horrible retread bears defense to run his boxed and outdated system defensively that he couldn’t change even a little bit…although I think he did blitz more and play more man as the season progressed, but moving fwd, I think the future is bright….i am looking fwd to the offseason moves esp on defense

  19. BigHogHaynes Says:

Coach Shiano sure as hell didn’t have a clue as to how to handle not motivate men!!

  20. biff barker Says:

Jeez… someone better tell Pooter Report the lid is off the dumpster. “Lord” Cornhole has arrived at JBF.

  21. Lord Cornelius Says:

    “@Lord of Corn

For sure it was close. I at least said “debatable’ in terms of which coach was worse.

The 12 vs 9 metric works for losses by 10 or more points. In 2 years Schiano had 7 losses by 15 or more points while Lovie had 6. Both had 4 losses each by 20 or more points.

    Pathetic all around.

I just don’t know what’s worse between Lovie’s schemes & talent evaluation or Schiano being the worst 2nd half coach I’ve ever seen combined with additional poor talent evaluation & implementation.

  22. DallasBuc Says:

Incompetent Lovie Smith never left the infamous basement (of despair), he just dragged the Bucs franchise and fan base down into the basement with him.
It’s time to leave the basement.

  23. Maze Says:

Lovie robbed the Glazers and fans . The nightmare is finally over.

  24. Couch Fan Says:

Its pretty clear that Lovie never took the job seriously. He really had no plan other than to stick to the samething he been doing. Hiring family as coaches. This was a vacation for him and how anyone can defend him is beyond me.

  25. salish_seamonster Says:

It’s a new year, and a new offensive-minded HC, and probably the best coaching staff assembled in Tampa for quite some time. We have a future superstar at QB and some other players to be excited about. I’m excited and I see no reason to be moaning about the past. It’s done. There’s a lot to look forward to.

  26. Mike Johnson Says:

until the losing and excuses start all over again….

  27. OneLove Says:

Greg Schiano WAS AND WILL ALWAYS BE the George W. Bush of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers franchise(and that’s NOT a compliment!!). He and that IDIOT Mark Dumbinik set this franchise BACK FOR YEARS!

At least Lovie drafted the future Best Quarterback in this league!! Our Savior, Jameis Christ…… Gap Tooth McGee and Sellout Thompson got nothing on that!!!

  28. satchseven Says:

you guys are a trip that was the least talented defense I saw all yr. no scheme was going to work with zero pass rush

  29. satchseven Says:

then you lose tedford with his replacement being in over head.that is why nfl types called bs on his firing. one year going in right direction then he gets fired. I have been watching the nfl since 1970 ,most teams do not make this move .you guys act like you had a super bowl roster
