Attractive Opening
January 7th, 2016Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht more than once in his near-panic-attack of a press conference to discuss the firing of Lovie Smith made it clear his phone has been fried by all the texts and calls from interested parties wanting to replace Lovie.
Licht also admitted that this opening with the Bucs is very likely the most coveted job in the NFL. Why?
Licht explained it has to do with two things. The first, Licht noted, Team Glazer is not hesitant at all to cut a check to get a player to fill a need. Many NFL owners are. But the second reason may be the most important; a prospective coach gets to work with America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston.
An ownership group willing to spend cash, and with franchise quarterback in his NFL infancy, means winning and job security and longevity,

And no matter who it is, he will only have 2 years to build his vision…and he will get the blame for roster choices that Jason Licht signs.
Very attractive.

It is the most attractive opening. This isn’t Cleveland, we don’t have bad ownership and a horrible roster. We just have bad ownership.

We were not going to the Super Bowl with Lovie Smith. Met the guy, like the guy, but in the end the defense was not the right fit. Look at yards given up and the number of penalties we got. This was not a team that was coached well. Yeah, the defense liked him, but they didnt compete for him.

Clearly the Glazers don’t mind cutting alimony checks either!

Speaking for Pablo
“Pablo thinks Pablo is a good reason to want the Bucs’s job…..the next HC will get all of Pablo’s support…..they have Hason as GM…..Hamus at QB and the Hoes ready to support them too. What more could a prospect want? Pablo hopes the new coach likes table dancing….Lovie never set foot near Pablo’s table.”

The 2 year thing isn’t true Dungry and Gruden got more time because they showed progress.Every coach after them have not.
January 7th, 2016 at 3:37 pm
You only get 2 years when you constantly get curb stomped by inferior opponents, your team lacks fire and always looks unprepared and is totally undisciplined and out of control. Simple as that.
January 7th, 2016 at 3:39 pm
Sure Lovie needed time to build a team, but as we all know the NFL is a what have you done lately league. Some teams have new coaches that take over a team and start winning immediately. Licht knows this. Lovie could not taylor his defense to fit the strengths of his players. He tried to stick a square peg in a circle. He could not stop the slant route from beating him everytime. Its not set that Koetter will take over, but he would be my pick. Although the Glazers like big named coaches, and some of them are wanting to coach this team. Who’s it gonna be????

When a defensive head coach is not permitted to draft defensive players, this is what you get.
January 7th, 2016 at 4:00 pm
We don’t have bad ownership. We have ownership that wants to win just as bad, if not more, than the fans do. This was done because the Glazers want to win. Period. I don’t know why the Glazers keep getting shat on by Bucs fans.
January 7th, 2016 at 4:01 pm
BuccaneerBonzai, I’m not sure where you get your info, but you do realize Lovie had final say over personnel, right? So this “head coach is not permitted to draft defensive players” is a load of hogwash, just like most of your recent posts I’ve read.
January 7th, 2016 at 4:02 pm
Bonzai, get out of here with that crap that the player’s were forced on Lovie and it was Jason’s fault. Lovie was hired first and hired Jason so if anyone had more of a say it was Lovie. You’re out of your skull if you think Licht was picking all offensive draft picks with out Lovie approving.
January 7th, 2016 at 4:10 pm
The problem wasn’t with the drafts….it was with the massive miss-fires in FA….and, I do believe it was probably Lovie’s decision to get rid of Revis….and that didn’t go well.
There really isn’t much of a defense for Lovie…..It certainly could be argued that he deserved another year…..but even that is hard to justify.

lovie’s gone, get over it!
lmao
funny how the lovie lovers said he was here and to get used to it and shut up during the offseason. now the shoe is on the other foot and they are hatin’.

Urban Meyer and Nick Saban. Discuss.

Cleveland Browns South LOL

Funny about Urban Meyer, he would never undertake a rebuild of a losing team.

Can you just grow the efff up? Really!!! You’re posting straw man statements now just because of your childish need to not only be right but to make anybody who possibly disagrees with you feel stupid.
Trust me being a blog wise man is nothing to crow about. You’re just too damn dumb to realize nuance, and balance and prefer to drown yourself in ad hom attacks and hyperbole.
Get over it. NOBODY here is crying over losing LOVIE!!! Some ARE upset about our lack of continuity…a legitimate issue. You on the other hand want to make it all personal….from Lovie down to the JBF posters.
As for all the concern about continuity…
And no matter who it is, he will only have 2 years to build his vision
That’s not really true if the Bucs have decided to hire Koetter. He already has a year under his belt with Licht and the Glazer’s vision and he has a successful year under his belt working with our franchise QB. He would get at least three years if they gave him the two that Lovie and Rah got.
