panel

Who does BSPN think is the unsung hero of the Bucs?

During a recent a panel discussion about the NFC South, former Bucs rock star general manager Mark Dominik was asked to pick the face of each franchise. The lone non-quarterback Dominik selected was Gerald McCoy. (more…)

(Unofficial) Training Camp For Jameis

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2015
No rest for Jameis.

No rest for Jameis.

While the first practice of training camp isn’t until a week from Saturday, where if Joe is properly positioned he will smell the cheerleaders’ sweat, training camp essentially has started for “America’s Quarterback,” Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston. (more…)

Mike Evans Follows Through With Randy Moss

Tuesday, July 21st, 2015

Evans2

The Buccaneers’ No. 1 receiver, 21-year-old star Mike Evans, hasn’t taken his foot off the gas since working out with Randy Moss this spring and joining America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, for a summer chemistry session in Tallahassee. (more…)

The Countdown: 20 Worst Buccaneers Personnel Moves Of The Past 10 Years — No. 8

Tuesday, July 21st, 2015
"Wait till you see what this guy has cookin' for 2013, Mr. Glazer. He's a Buccaneer Man."

“Wait till you see what this guy has cookin’ for 2013, Mr. Glazer. He’s a Buccaneer Man.”

It’s the countdown feature you’ve all been waiting for. Not really, but on the heels of last year’s award-winning “20 Worst Buccaneers Of The Past 10 years” feature, Joe had to deliver.

A list like this is highly subjective and toxic. Fits of rage were common during production meetings at JoeBucsFan.com world headquarters. Scared interns soiled their pants. Full beer bottles were smashed, and a treasured Rachel Watson poster was accidently destroyed. But order was restored.

Current and former general managers and head coaches might not like what’s coming, but it had to be done. This is what happens when your team is 30-70 in its last 100 games. (more…)

Lavonte David: No. 5

Tuesday, July 21st, 2015
Elite tackler.

Elite tackler.

‘Tis the season of lists! There is a list for quarterbacks. There is a list for defenses. There is even Joe’s list of hottest Bucs cheerleaders (Do you really wonder who Joe has ranked atop such a list?). (more…)

Jameis Not The “Face” (Yet)

Tuesday, July 21st, 2015
Not yet.

Not yet.

Joe knows that before the draft, the thin-skinned, scared midwives who curled up in fetal positions and sucked their thumbs at the thought of the Bucs drafting a quarterback, much less “America’s Quarterback,” signal-caller Jameis Winston, howled in protest. (more…)

Martin Cannot Break Tackles

Tuesday, July 21st, 2015
No longer can break tackles?

No longer can break tackles?

In the dog days of July, after folks have finished blowing off fireworks, it’s research time, as NFL teams all but shut down their facilities.

So the spreadsheeters have been working overtime at Pro Football Focus as the dawn of training camp is within sight. (more…)

“Siege” Alert

Monday, July 20th, 2015

Joe confesses to purchasing a living dinosaur on Sunday, that would be a traditional newspaper called The Tampa Tribune.

It was extremely enjoyable reading, except the sports section was downright puzzling. (more…)

Bucs rookie LT Donovan Smith posing with fellow Penn State product, the fetching Colleen Wolfe of NFL Now.

Yes, Bucs fans have little fingernails left, as they have been gnawing them and sweating over the very real possibility the Bucs will start three rookies on offense this year.

Then again, those three likely rookies, “America’s Quarterback,” Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston, left tackle Donovan Smith and right guard Ali Marpet, are an upgrade over the drek that played those positions last year. (more…)

Yes, in the salad days leading up to training camp, Joe is scouring for Bucs news in places where there is no Bucs news. This is one of those cases. (more…)

Jameis Is Not “Hype”

Monday, July 20th, 2015
No hype.

No hype.

A week from Saturday begins the last stand of the Mike Glennon Mob. That’s when training camp opens and if the quarterback of the past and the quarterback of the future ever hopes to be the quarterback of the present and lead the Bucs, this will be his final shot.

That’s if you actually believe there is competition. (more…)

The Heat Is On

Monday, July 20th, 2015
Under heat.

Under heat.

When training camp begins a week from Saturday, it will be hot. No kidding, it is Florida.

But no, not just that. Bucs fans will be singed from the heat coming from “America’s Quarterback,” Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston. (more…)

“Pride” Will Play A Major Role?

Sunday, July 19th, 2015
Lovie

An ex-Buccaneer weighs in

Joe and Bucs fans can argue all day long about whether Lovie Smith is on a hot seat, whether he must hit a certain number of wins in 2015 to keep his job.

But what is Lovie feeling? (more…)

No Need For Musical Chairs

Sunday, July 19th, 2015
No need to mess with Kwon Alexander's head by changing positions.

No need to mess with Kwon Alexander’s head by changing positions.

Bucs fans for years have had irritable bowel syndrome when it comes to safeties.

Obviously, Sabby the Goat was the perfect example but in latter years, the likes of Sean Jones, Mark Barron and Hawk Goldson have kept Bucs fans on the bowl for longer periods than expected. Those safeties have basically been bad hotel toilet paper. (more…)

Bucs No. 28

Sunday, July 19th, 2015
Time to break an ugly streak.

Time to break an ugly streak.

You’ve heard college football programs identified for producing top talent at a certain position.

Penn State is “Linebacker U.” USC is known for pumping out offensive linemen. Miami cranks out wide receivers.

And on it goes. (more…)

Breakout

If healthy, Bucs TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins could be a weapon.

If healthy, Bucs TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins could be a weapon.

Right now, less than a year removed, the 2014 Bucs draft looks to be a one-man band. Mike Evans has been nothing less than a home run.

The rest of the draft? Shaky, to be polite.

Running back Charles Sims sure looked to be forced into playing duty. Nothing he did impressed Joe. But Joe is willing to give the guy the benefit of the doubt since he got hurt in preseason. (more…)
