Jameis Vs. LeBeau

Friday, September 11th, 2015
"It's not about that."

“It’s not about that.”

No, this game has nothing to do with two rookie quarterbacks who won the last two Heisman trophies facing each other in their first NFL game.

Yet it’s a catchy hook. Much sexier than two s(p)it 2-14 teams squaring off. (more…)

Building A Better Rush Defense

Is Bucs DC Leslie Frazier building a top rush defense?

Is Bucs DC Leslie Frazier building a top rush defense?

Joe understands Tampa Bay fans have done their best to rinse away the memories of the 2014 Bucs with untold number of beers if not fifths of Sambuca.

Yet, through the long nights and even longer head-pounding mornings, the tactic never works. (more…)

Did Licht Pull A Belicheat?

Friday, September 11th, 2015

Joe has written several times about Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht working alongside Bill Belicheat in New England.

It’s Not About Enjoyment, Gerald McCoy

Friday, September 11th, 2015

McCoy

Joe was really sickened by a piece of commentary from Gerald McCoy yesterday.

A rookie back in 2010, McCoy started 13 games for a 10-6 team, his only winning team in five seasons, and McCoy didn’t have fun so it wasn’t a happy memory for him.

“He’s A Winner”

Friday, September 11th, 2015
Lauds Jameis.

Lauds Jameis.

Asked about the rookie quarterbacks starting Sunday, Marcus Mariota and America’s Quarterback, Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston, Gerald McCoy sounded like Dick LeBeau.

McCoy said Mariota is not a rookie to him, instead, he is the starting quarterback of the team he needs to beat. When the subject of Jameis came up, GMC raved about Jameis like few other teammates have. (more…)

“He’s A Gunslinger”

Friday, September 11th, 2015
Talkin' Jameis.

Talkin’ Jameis.

When the PC crowd and those who daily look for reasons to be offended and outraged learned the Bucs were interested in drafting America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, their reaction was as if Team Glazer ordered cable TV stations to remove Lifetime and MSNBC from their channel options. (more…)

Former Bucs OC Jeff Tedford's offense in the CFL is struggling.

Former Bucs OC Jeff Tedford’s offense in the CFL is struggling.

When Lovie Smith brought Jeff Tedford to be his offensive coordinator, it was thought by some to be a bold strike by Lovie.

Tedford, who ran pretty good offenses in college, was a supposed to be a new breed of play caller. (more…)

Cusp Of Ugly History

The "Custodian of Canton" has troubling data on the Bucs.

The “Custodian of Canton” has troubling data on the Bucs.

Yes, the Bucs are 30-70 in their last 100 games. A brutal, brutal stretch that harkens to the last month of the Chucky administration when he lost his final four games as Bucs coach (one to, of all people, JaMarcus Russell at home).

Few dreamed it at the time, but it proved to be a harbinger of terrible times. (more…)

Former Bucs commander Greg Schiano may be gone, but his philosophy is very much still with the Bucs defense.

Joe has no issue with starting rookies on the front line, like LT Donovan Smith. (Nor does Joe have an issue with Colleen Wolfe.)

Joe knows Bucs fans are screaming that their beloved pewter pirates are starting two rookies on the offensive line. Screaming! However, Joe is fine with that.

After all, these guys, Donovan Smith and Ali Marpet, were drafted in the second round for a reason. (more…)

It shouldn’t get much easier than Sunday for starting defensive end Jacquies Smith.
