A feel-good story of last season was the emergence of linebacker Danny Lansanah.
One of the last signees by former Bucs rock star general manager Mark Dominik in 2013, Lansanah, a former UFL player, had a strong training camp and eventually unseated Jonathan Casillas at strongside linebacker. (more…)
Bucs fans had heard a little about Jameis Winston’s pre-draft meeting several weeks ago with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
Well, after Winston was selected by the Bucs, Goodell talked about it. (more…)
After the Bucs drafted wide receiver Kenny Bell, Joe noted how Nebraskans hold their Cornhuskers dear to their hearts.
In fact, Bucs general manager Jason Licht was once a walk-on for Tom Osbourne.
So the Bucs have their franchise quarterback, and two potential starting offensive linemen. What else?
There are a couple of O-linemen out there for the taking, but will any of them still be there when the Bucs select with the 29th pick in the fourth round?
Unless the Bucs make trades, they have five picks today including two fifth-round selections.
Bang your comments and thoughts here as the second half of the draft fires up today.
Last year, the Bucs fielded many calls from various NFL teams wanting the services of quarterback Mike Glennon.
At the time, the Bucs had high hopes for Glennon, even knighting him with the moniker “Quarterback of the Future.” This, despite throwing wads of Team Glazer cash at turnover-prone Josh McCown. (more…)
Marcus Mariota, who many Bucs fans wanted to draft, was a speedy Hawaiian. Instead, with their last pick in the 2015 draft, the Bucs drafted a slower than slow player in Hawaii.
Joey Iosefa, a running back from Hawaii, posted the slowest time of any running back in the combine at 5.02. Below are his highlights. (more…)
The defunct Marcus Mariota Gang will like this one. The Bucs drafted the wrong guy from Hawaii. (more…)
George Johnson, T.J. Fatinikun, Larry English, Lawrence Sidbury — it’s the Bucs’ fearsome foursome at right defensive end.
No, the Bucs haven’t drafted an edge rusher. (more…)
Utah receiver Kaelin Clay is your latest Bucs wide receiver. However, return specialist is the name of his game. (more…)
Tampa Bay sixth-round pick Kaelin Clay had a long, rough road to the NFL.
There’s a reason why he’s only got one season of major college statistics, all from the University of Utah. (more…)
As Joe likes to say when folks ask him why he’s not watching a Lightning playoff game or a Rays game when he is Twittering out Bucs nuggets and thoughts, “We live in a football world.” (more…)
Whoa! The Bucs scored another potential toy for Jameis Winston — and a guy who can return punts.
It’s Kaelin Clay out of the University of Utah. (more…)
Kenny Bell is a damned good college receiver. Nebraska is not known for throwing the ball but in the Bo Pelini era, he opened up the offense more than previous administrations.
The beneficiary was Bell, who left Nebraska with an armful of receiving records including career catches (181) and receiving yards (2,689). He led Nebraska in receiving all four years. (more…)
Jason Licht is a Cornhusker. Folks from Nebraska treat the Nebraska football team like an extension of their immediately family. They bleed Cornhusker red.
The Bucs general manager was once a walk-on for Tom Osborne. So when Licht made the phone call to Cornhuskers wide receiver Kenny Bell to tell him he was now a Buccaneer, Licht decided to pull Bell’s chain a bit this afternoon. (more…)
Joe thinks this Kenny Bell just might have a shot to make the team. The Nebraska receiver is an upgrade over Robert Herron. (more…)
If new Bucs wide receiver Kenny Bell doesn’t see the field much, he can brag about having the best ‘fro in the NFL.
The Nebraska WR (181 catches in four seasons), a former teammate of Lavonte David, was the Bucs’ fifth round pick this afternoon.
Bell is versatile. He’s quick and he can return kicks. And he has better hands than Robert Herron, that is for sure. (more…)
The Buccaneers’ big time draft picks have done some big time talking.
Jameis Winston might have met his match. (more…)
