Kenny Bell Touts His Versatility

Saturday, May 2nd, 2015
New Bucs WR Kenny Bell.

New Bucs WR Kenny Bell.

Kenny Bell is a damned good college receiver. Nebraska is not known for throwing the ball but in the Bo Pelini era, he opened up the offense more than previous administrations.

The beneficiary was Bell, who left Nebraska with an armful of receiving records including career catches (181) and receiving yards (2,689). He led Nebraska in receiving all four years. (more…)

Bucs GM Jason Licht punked new WR Kenny Bell today.

Jason Licht is a Cornhusker. Folks from Nebraska treat the Nebraska football team like an extension of their immediately family. They bleed Cornhusker red.

The Bucs general manager was once a walk-on for Tom Osborne. So when Licht made the phone call to Cornhuskers wide receiver Kenny Bell to tell him he was now a Buccaneer, Licht decided to pull Bell’s chain a bit this afternoon. (more…)

Saturday, May 2nd, 2015
New Bucs WR Kenny Bell.

New Bucs WR Kenny Bell.

If new Bucs wide receiver Kenny Bell doesn’t see the field much, he can brag about having the best ‘fro in the NFL.

The Nebraska WR (181 catches in four seasons), a former teammate of Lavonte David, was the Bucs’ fifth round pick this afternoon.

Bell is versatile. He’s quick and he can return kicks. And he has better hands than Robert Herron, that is for sure. (more…)

kwon alexander

This Kwon Alexander, the new Bucs fourth-round linebacker, probably will be a special teams ace.

Some NFL analysts compare him to Dakoda Watson (remember him?). Alexander was a good tackler, that is for sure, But in the NFL, one needs more than just being a good tackler to succeed. Cody Grimm was a good tackler, too. (more…)

Bucs “Rooted” For Ali Marpet

Saturday, May 2nd, 2015
hobart

Bucs GM Jason Licht had a soft spot in his heart for his late-second round pick, G Ali Marpet of Division III Hobart College.

It’s the classic American tale, rags to riches, Rocky winning the heavyweight championship of the world, the Miracle on Ice.

As George Patton famously said, “Americans love a winner and will not tolerate a loser.” And no one likes winners quite like underdogs. That’s why March Madness is so appealing. Fans enjoy watching little schools take down giants. (more…)
