Stat Geeks Frown On Verner

Tuesday, June 9th, 2015

Football Outsiders has harsh data on Bucs CB Alterraun Verner.

Regular readers here are well aware Joe is no fan in any way of cornerback Mike Jenkins. Joe doesn’t give a damn where Jenkins is from or where he played college ball, the guy is a slug.

When Joe thinks of the Buccaneers who are interesting, intriguing guys people in the bar five beers in can recognize, Gerald McCoy comes to mind.

Arguably the best 43 defensive tackle in the game, GMC is both a stud on the field and a good guy wearing a perpetual smile off it. (more…)

Last week, Joe brought word of “America’s Quarterback,” Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston, running gassers with the offensive linemen in OTA practice.

Led by barbecue pitmaster Logan Mankins, the veteran guard was having his fellow linemen sprint after every mental error. (more…)

“Upper Hand?”

DotsonWhether Demar Dotson is staging some sort of contract protest/holdout is unclear. Bucs fans truly will find out when mandatory minicamp starts in eight days.

But the notion that Dotson has a strong case to play hardball with the Bucs has Joe laughing hysterically. (more…)

A Bleacher Report columnist is not fond of Doug Martin

Some are getting a jump on the lists. (more…)

Joe is expecting a strong season from Bucs CB Johnthan Banks.

Joe expects a strong season from Johnthan Banks.

No, when you are 2-14, there is no such thing as a strength on your team. Oh, sure, the Bucs have arguably the NFL’s best one-two punch at wide receiver with Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson.

After that, there is a pretty huge drop off at receiver. (more…)

Gregg Rosenthal is not impressed

One could point to the safety positions and frown. One could point to the (lack of) edge rushers and scratch your head. Others might consider the Bucs couldn’t even muster a 500-yard rusher last year and scratch something else. (more…)

The never-ending quest to replace Simeon Rice will be Lovie's toughest position battle says BSPN.

The never-ending quest to replace Simeon Rice will be Lovie’s toughest position battle, says BSPN.

Joe has just about given up hope that the Bucs will ever find a double-digit sack guy from the edge. The team has blown God knows how many draft picks and burned through God knows how many tens of millions of Team Glazer dollars in an effort to replace Simeon Rice.

And all the efforts through three general managers and four coaches have been a colossal waste of time, effort and megacash. (more…)

Jameis Accuser Legal Tactics Blasted By Tampa Attorney

Sunday, June 7th, 2015

It’s getting nasty and dirty in the civil suit of Jameis Winston, the one that accuses America’s Quarterback of sexual battery, assault, false imprisonment, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Tampa attorney Sam Harden, of Metcalf-Harden, has been following the action and doesn’t like what he sees from the team representing Winston’s accuser, Erica Kinsman. (more…)

ASJ Making Strides

An exciting update emerges

As Joe has stated before, if the regime of Jason Licht is to hang on for more than a handful of years, Licht must get production, solid production, out of his second-round draft picks.

Licht put a lot on the line drafting left tackle Donovan Smith hoping he can protect “America’s Quarterback,” Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston. And Licht took a helluva gamble on fellow second-round pick, Division-III product Ali Marpet, tabbing him to be the answer at right guard. (more…)

Bucs Aren’t Shopping Glennon

mike glennon 1001

Ask Joe why the Bucs — or any team — haven’t made a transaction, and the answer usually is staring you in the face.

Take this Dan Connolly. A starter on the reigning Super Bowl champions, not even Bill Belicheat wants the offensive lineman back. Connolly is unemployed. Not only the Bucs, but 31 other teams haven’t picked him up. (more…)

Bucs Give Jameis A Wilder Surrounding

Saturday, June 6th, 2015

Jameis WinstonThose who believe Jameis Winston needs a babysitter — and the Bucs were determined to have a babysitter-like influence for him — might want to look at who was told to spend a lot of time next to America’s Quarterback. (more…)
