“That’s The Reason I Would Watch”

Boomer Esiason weighs in

Joe’s very interested to see the TV ratings tonight for Thursday Night Football.

No, they won’t compare to a game that featured Tim Tebow or Johnny Football, but there are plenty who want to watch America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, in his first NFL game televised nationally.

Former Super Bowl quarterback Boomer Esiason is one of those guys. He’s looking to see how Jameis continues to grow when his team needs “a bounce back” victory against a strong Rams defense — and three consecutive wins for a shot at the playoffs. “That’s the reason I would watch,” Boomers says in this CBS Sports video. Bart Scott also raves about Jameis during the linked segment.

Boomer’s take very much mirror’s Derrick Brooks’ interest in the Bucs’ response to subpar effort — yes, Brooks spoke out about effort — in a key home game Sunday.

Joe is very confident Jameis has a good night. As for his teammates? Well, hopefully, they can prevent Rams QB Case Keenum from looking like NFL vagrant Ryan Mallett did against the Bucs in September.

I don’t get the bucs are out of it talk they finish 9-7 and Vikings lose two they are in

  2. Buc1987 Says:

    Short rest, away game.

    Go Bucs!

  3. pelbuc Says:

Zero confidence in Bucs defense and its musical chairs at every position. Little to no confidence Evans or ASJ will have any positive impact. Could get ugly early.

  4. Tampa Tony Says:

Loser Lovie’s d gets trounced as usual. I’m only watching when the offense is on the field

  5. Keir Says:

    @ Tampa Tony

Don’t watch at all then, you miserable website TROLL!!!!! The Bucs don’t need a fan like you!

    Go Bucs!

  6. ColoradoBuc Says:

Are you Joes in St Louis to watch this game? Let us know how the crowd responds to Jameis.

  7. JollyBucsFan Says:

too many injuries, too many drops, too many penalties. I would predict we lose tonight, beat Chicago, and then lose to Car. 7-9, not bad after 2-14. Good free agency and a draft like this years and we are in the Superbowl 2016 season

  8. Buccfan37 Says:

I’m watching this prime time matchup in anticipation of a Bucs win. I expect a good showing by our Bucs regardless of the injury situation. 7-7 sounds dandy, make it happen Bucs! Let’s Go Bucs!

  9. ATLBucsFan Says:

Gurley will challenge our defense. Rams will use him to take pressure off the QB. Hope our D line can contain him.

  10. The Buc Realist Says:

Lets not forget the biggest reason to watch. Lovie must win out to “TIE” Coach Schaino’s win/loss record. One loss and and lovie will not be able to match who many called “the college coach”!!!!!!

  11. Pawl Says:

I hear STAR WARS coming out tonight will kill the ratings.

  12. Supersam Says:

I’ve been waiting for this game all year, and of course my gf’s stupid work Christmas party is tonight so I’m stuck going with her. I’m gonna scarf my food down and hope to be home by halftime.

  13. Buc Em Says:

A Bucs Win & a Vikings loss to the Bears on Sunday makes week 16 very interesting…………

  14. 813bucboi Says:

@keir…I agree…why be a bucs fan if you always root against them…I thought fans root for their team and stand by their team thru the good, bad and the ugly….this season is nowhere near the mess it has been the past few years so what’s all the complaining about…we have a young team…remember when seattle made the playoffs at 7-9?….they were a young inconsistent immature heavy penalized team…just like the bucs are now….took them 2 years to get it right and look at them now…pete carroll was in the nfl before and got canned…it took him 3 drafts to get the players wanted before they started winning…I doubt pete is a better coach than lovie or he would have 2 superbowl rings by now…lovie has this team headed in the right direction fast but some people on here don’t want to give the man a chance…people wont even give him 2 full seasons and they want him fired…like I said, people want the bucs to be successful but not lovie and its sad…root for the bucs or find another team…GO BUCS!!!!

  15. Fsuking Says:

Our run defense will stop Gurley in his tracks. I’m just pissed I took the Bucs @ a pick um as opposed to the generous -2.5 we are getting now

  16. Buc15 Says:

Supersam you need a dvr asap

  17. 813bucboi Says:

@realist…yeah and lovie is doing it with far less talent….schaino had revis playing zone coverage, forced our best olineman(carl nicks) into retirement because he didn’t know how to run an nfl team and instructed our team to play dirty when the game was over…the biggest reason to watch is to see those good looking uni’s…GO BUCS!!!

  18. mike Says:

Winston needs one more win to save lovies job.

  19. 813bucboi Says:

oh and lovie beat pete in 2010 in the playoffs….GO BUCS!!!

  20. ToesOnTheLine! Says:

    @813

Huh!? Interesting take on reality there…I think Nick’s toe injury had absolutely nothing to do with any coach. Revis was basically rehabbing for his next move to a SB ring…not much any coach can do when a guy isnt 100% healthy, but still needs to be on the field because even not fully healed he was better than the other CB’s.

  21. 813bucboi Says:

@Mike..if you think his job is in jeopardy…then you must think the sky is pink…GO BUCS!!!!

  22. 813bucboi Says:

@Toes….excuses huh!!!lol…schiano was the one who forced nicks to play when he wasn’t ready..his toe was still infected but he was forced to play by the coach…if you remember he only played in one game that year and he wasn’t suppose to be in that one…revis was cleared to play so he took the field…schiano had him playing zone…who plays the best man cb in zone coverage? a college coach…revis was at least 90% vs. the jets the first game of the year and only got healthier…not to mention all the bad clock management schiano displayed while he was here…excuses excuses I see…..LOL…GO BUCS!!!

Are you hanging up a stocking on your wall?
It’s the time that every Santa has a ball
Does he ride a red nosed reindeer?
Has a ton upon his sleigh?
Do the fairies keep him sober for a day?

    So here it is
    Merry Christmas
    Everybody’s having fun
    Look to the future now
    It’s only just begun.

Are you waiting for the family to arrive?
Are you sure you’ve got the room to spare inside?
Does your Granny always tell you
That the old songs are the best?
Then she’s up and rock ‘n’ rollin’ with the rest.

    So here it is
    Merry Christmas
    Everybody’s having fun
    Look to the future now
    It’s only just begun.

  24. Erik with Clean Athletics Says:

Take away all of our droppd passes and Jameis is already over 4,000 yards passing and on his way to setting the all-time rookie record. And we’re probably sitting at 9-4.

Jameis is a true champion and we just need the rest of our team to start executing like champions and we’ll win it all.

  25. WalkdaPlank Says:

Jameis will be tested. No Vjax means Evans will get all the attention, which who knows could be a good thing. Evans seems to have a better chance of catching a pass in double coverage than he does when wide open with his case of the dropsies. Lovie needs to USE his best offensive weapon in Doug Martin instead of putting him on the shelf. O-line will have it’s hands full.

  26. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I know there are “so-called” fans who hope we lose so our draft position will be better……we did that last year…..but no more…..it’s not where you pick….it’s who….Kwon Alexander is proof of that….so are players like Colston & Josh Norman.

As for the posters who come here to do nothing but spew out nasty negativity….I feel very sorry for you. Was it because your Fathers didn’t love you?…..a small package?…..no girlfriends…or boyfriends or are you impotent?
    JUMA…..(you figure it out)

For you…..I have one more reason to root for the Bucs.

  27. Couch Fan Says:

Was it because your Fathers didn’t love you?…..a small package?…..no girlfriends…or boyfriends or are you impotent?
    ————————————-

No we just are accepting of mediocrity. But keep shaking those pom poms!

  28. Couch Fan Says:

    aren’t*

  29. ndog Says:

Question of the night, who is rooting harder for the Rams tonight, their fans or the BucRealist?

  30. The Buc Realist Says:

    @ndog

rooting and predicting are two different things!!!!

    Go Bucs!!! (except for lovie)

  31. DavidbigBucsFan Says:

ndog ……..DallasBuc, couchfan,Tampa Tony the most vocal ones

  32. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Realist

It’s pretty hard to root for the Bucs and against Lovie…..please explain how exactly you can do that….

  33. The Buc Realist Says:

    @tampabaybucfan

Have not been reading my comments for the last year and a half???? I have been threading that needle for a while now!!!!!

  34. Dreambig Says:

Supersam, your not even a Bucs fan. Why would you care? Oh, nevermind. you want to watch in case they lose so you can come on here tomorrow and talk crap. Hey maybe Jameis will throw an interception tonight for you. He might throw 2 or 3 TDs or run one in, but you wont care about that.

  35. Dreambig Says:

Tonight scares me. Has Nick Foles ever lost a game to the Bucs? Every time he plays us he looks like the best QB in NFL history. Even when he has been second string.

  36. Dreambig Says:

last comment was based on Boomer saying he was playing. Not sure if he is.

  37. GerbilsGoneWild Says:

Can’t wait to watch. Go bucs!

  38. Buccfan37 Says:

Foles did make mincemeat of the Bucs more than once. I thought he was out for this game.

  39. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Realist

I have read all of your comments……you didn’t answer my question.

“threading the needle” isn’t an answer.

Again…..How do you root for the Bucs and against Lovie? Especially when their fortunes or failures are tied to one another.

Are you hoping Lovie has a health problem and has to resign?

Are you hoping the Bucs win and somehow Lovie is fired for some sort of public misconduct?

From reading all of your posts…..I conclude that you hope the Bucs lose so they will fire Lovie and hire the coach you want….whoever that is….

  40. LargoBuc Says:

Realist, no one cares about matching Schiano’s win total in two years, except you. You want Lovie to lose to fit your narrative. Get a clue. And Lovie broke Schiano’s mark ten years ago, but your too stupid to realize that. Just give Lovie his freaking credit for taking a bottom dweller and turning it into a respectable team trending in the right direction. You think theres some coach available in January 2014 that would take the mess Schiano left behind and turn things around instantly? If you do, your a dumbass.

  41. LargoBuc Says:

    TBBF,
Realist wants Dan Quinn as our hc, remember. Lol What happened there? Looks like “Loser” Lovie made Quinn his bi

  42. 74 bucs fan Says:

    Hey trolls…….. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Oh sorry – so bored reading your same old same crap. zzzzzzzzzz

  43. Zbucs Says:

Bucs lose this one, they may very well lose out. We need this win. Defense needs to play big. Offense is facing a good defense, mistake free is a must.

  44. Mike Says:

@813… I guess the sky is pink
