Playoffs?

Can Jameis pull off the unthinkable?

Can Jameis pull off the unthinkable?

Yes, the win Sunday over the Dixie Chicks was thrilling.

Not only was it a season sweep over an NFC South foe of the Bucs, but it also brought Tampa Bay to an even 6-6 record. In December, if you can imagine!

All of a sudden, the Bucs find themselves in a playoff push. Can the Bucs make it?

More importantly, can America’s Quarterback, Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston, lead the Bucs the way? That’s the question posed by popular sports television and radio host Adam Schein to his NFL Monday QB panel. See, and hear, what they have to say below.

    He’ll do it

  2. flmike Says:

Lots of things have to happen for the Bucs to get in, I’ll settle for 9-7/8-8 and a strong off season….

  3. D-Rome Says:

I listened to Mr. Afternoon Drive-Time’s opening this morning. It seems he’s finally embraced America’s Quarterback. What I thought was key in his statement was saying that the Bucs made the right pick for *this* team. Jameis has single handedly changed the culture around here. Mariota would have been a fine QB for the Bucs but I really believe the Bucs would have a losing record with Mariota. That “Who wants a touchdown” stuff sounds like it’s out of a movie but this is the real deal!

  4. CreamsicleBananaHammock Says:

Well first the Bucs will have to go 4-0. Not impossible, but let’s remember this team hadn’t won two in a row in a few seasons before a few weeks ago. Now they’d have to win 5 in a row

Vikings would have to go 2-2 or the Seahawks would have to go 1-3 the rest of the way. Not impossible but it’s not going to be easy

  5. Johnny "America's Commenter" Dejay Says:

As Creamsicle pointed out, the playoffs are a long shot at this point. The Bucs could very well go 10-6 and get left out again. It makes those close losses at Houston and Washington sting a bit more, but hopefully Lovie and staff will use that pain to motivate the players in the seasons to come.

  6. Killian Says:

It’s very possible that we make the playoffs, but we have to win out. The Bucs have one less loss than the Seahawks in conference play and the Seahawks still have to play Arizona. The Vikings have a tough finish with Arizona, Chicago, NY Giants and Green Bay. It’s likely that they will lose 2 of those games. Then it comes down to tie breakers. If we win out, we win the tie breakers with Minn and Seattle if they lose 2 and 1 games resctively.

I think its very possible that we get in…the vikes are reeling and still have a few tough games left…I think the bucs and seahawk get in but we must take care of our own business… if we finish 10-6 with or without the playoffs im a happy camper…GO BUCS!!!

  8. Bobby Says:

I don’t have any problem with the commentary. I don’t think we get to the playoffs either but I’m perfectly OK with that as long as we continue to improve and play competitive football. This was never going to be our year and we all knew that at the beginning of the year. I’m thrilled with the progress I’ve seen. Now, having said all that…is it possible that we win out? Heck yeah, if we play sound football on both sides of the ball and don’t make mistakes…we can beat anybody. I believe that. I’m anxious to see how we do against Carolina. I’m kind of hoping they are 15-0 when we play them because I would love for us to be the one to end that winning streak. That will be a true test of just how far we’ve come since the last time we played them.

  9. Rrsrq Says:

This team, contrary to the panel, can and will get at least 9 wins, may not get us in the playoffs because a lot has to happen. The freakin’ skins and Texans game may haunt this team. If we sneak in, anything can happen.

  10. Tnew Says:

I fully believe it is possible to win 9 games… Not sure what the panel is seeing there. Panthers loss, probable, but not definite. The Rams just fired their OC, predicated on running the football, it is on the road but their fans aren’t coming with the rumors about moving the team, also Jameis has already won 2 in loud domes. The Bears are good but we match up well with them. The Saints, after last week, really expelled a ton of emotion to try to muster a win against the Panthers, That was their Super Bowl and historically, we play the Saints well late in the season. I’m having a hard time seeing 10 wins but I’m also seeing a hard time winning 8. 9 really looks like the number. But, I don’t think that gets you in. The Vikings are the circled team.. they have Chicago and New York both at home remaining to get to 10 wins.

  11. 1nebuc Says:

The one game i i now we will win is the Panthers game . Jaboo and the bucs want to send a loud statement to the nfc south and the rest of the league that nezt year we wipl cause alot of problems for teams . With that being said Jaboo is a winner and he will prove it to the world in the next 4 games . I think the next game is always the biggest but that Thursday night game against the RAMS in primetime with the world watching you will watch this team become completely his like when they played Clemson 2013 and beat them like they stole something.

  12. BDorry55 Says:

The Vikings suck. The chase is on, time to go hunting.

  13. Pickgrin Says:

History says that its rare to get into the playoffs as a WILDCARD unless you have either 10 or 11 wins. Winning a bad division is a different story. Occasionally 9-7 earns a wild card berth if you own all the tie breakers over the other 9-7 teams in an off year for your conference – but more often than not you need 11 wins to guarantee a playoff spot. 10-6 may do it this year – but I seriously doubt 9-7 will.

If the Bucs run the table and a suddenly hot Seattle loses a game (their schedule is easier than ours the next 4 games) – then the Bucs will get in because we will have a better division record and thus the tiebreaker. Simple as that as the HC would say. That is why is Lovie was preaching 1(loss)and done this last week as he will continue to do each week until/unless we lose again.

It is possible – just not very likely IMO. Fingers crossed. Its hard to count out the heart of a lion that our QB has though – even if winning 5 in a row at the end of the season to get in seems very unlikely which it does.

Go Bucs! Shock the world and run the table from here on out (including postseason!) Turn Jameis into a combo of Nostradomis and Babe Ruth for “calling his shot” pre-draft about playing in a Super Bowl his rookie year.
Many probably forgot that he said that but the clip would be played endlessly if the Bucs were to somehow win the NFC Championship this year.

  14. Jason McLaurin Says:

10-6 is looking like it may get us a five seed this year which id just comfortably into the playoffs. We have two games next week and If we take care of our business out there we have a chance to be in a position to control our destiny. Vikings, F alcons, and Seahawks have a greater chance of losing one more game and I think the Vikings may lose out to the bears and packers in the end as well. We have to have our mind on beating the Saints this week in no other way. Its time to prepare for the next two games next week to get to 8-6 while everyone else in the chase will obtain seventh losses before we take the field again. Lansanah should become our middle linebacker while Kwon is gone and lets let Carter get a real chance on this team and let him start at his natural position which is strong side. Lansanah has a knack for turnovers which suits us at this time at that position. Carter has a lot of speed that can be used on the outside as well on blitzes now that Lovie is calling a few of those. I also think Lovie shouldn’t even play with Jenkins or Banks as Jude’s replacement and go with Verner who is known to have played outstanding football against our remaining opponents. He has less flaws than penalty prone Banks right now and has a deeper desire to become a starter again as well. Hes very crafty and I think hes a better fit next to Moore right now than Banks would. Jenkins and Banks should start fighting for that nickel spot soon which is where Banks will be rediscovered by Lovie once again on the way to the playoffs because our defensive backs has taken all season long to develop and take form but I think with Jude gone Verner will step up and show his passion for playoffs as well. Hoping McCoy comes back healthy but I like Mcdaniel and Gholston at the ends as well. I think they are huge athletic specimens off the edge that can cog the running game of opponents this time of year. The offensive line is becoming healthy as well but I would like to see us find a way to get Dotson and Cherilus starting and Smith either to guard or the bench right now because his play isn’t very consistent. Now would be a great time to make that change too as we prepare for teams that blitz the pass heavily and often in the Saints snd Bears. As far as the playmakers well lets be real the offense should be targeting ASJ now that hes healthy and Chuck Sims as a slot reciever in spread formations which I think we will see a lot of. I like what we have in Brate and I think we should flex with two tight ends as well as more two back shotgun formations with Sims and Martin who can catch effectively out the backfield as well###play4WINStonfight4LOViE

  15. MadMax Says:

We had an easy schedule….simple as that. We will lose in the 1st round of any playoff birth….simple as that.

No GMC, No Kwon, No chance! BUT we’ve made progress and THATS all Ive asked for. Progress from the Oline positions and the QB position.

Give it time, great times are coming our way!
