Playing Time Limited For Austin Seferian-Jenkins

Austin Seferian-Jenkins (right) had plenty of time on the bench today.

Joe finds it noteworthy that Tampa Bay second-year tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins is healthy and revived but is getting limited snaps.

Joe doesn’t have an official snap count from today’s game, but Seferian-Jenkins spent plenty of time on the bench today. It’s a little odd for a second-round pick for whom the regime publicly expresses very high hopes.

Seferian-Jenkins has played in four consecutive games since recovering from a shoulder injury in Week 2. So he shouldn’t have any rust on him. But today Cameron Brate got his share of work as the receiving tight end, and it seems Seferian Jenkins is not about to get Luke Stocker off the field on most running downs.

Hey, it’s great for the Bucs to have competition at tight end, but Seferian-Jenkins is a massive talent that needs to be developed, a guy who needs all kinds of playing experience after spending much of his career in the trainer’s room.

The Bears were a defense missing a lot of players with injuries, yet this wasn’t the day for Seferian-Jenkins to be exploited as the weapon he was supposed to be?

Something smells wrong.

why play ASJ when Cameron Brate is available, a better pass-catcher, and seems to run better routes. also, I keep waiting for ASJ to break, he seems so fragile

  2. BrianBucs Says:

ASJ looks more like a Playaa than a Player

  3. Bucn Enough Says:

He also.gets to many penalties acting like a fool…

  4. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Maybe ASJ lost some snaps because of his stupid penalty last week….just sayin’.

  5. Lovie Is Dog Poo Says:

Brate > ASJ. Not even close really.

He sucks. I’d rather see brate on the field. He’s an all around good football player.

I agree Seminole Bill n BrainBucs…ASJ plays fragile n passive, appears to b too much of playaa than a true player. I have no confidence in this guy, the hail mary was a gimme n pure luck. I place some of the blame on our receiver coach because ASJ is big but plays passive n dumb n also Dye shouldn’t b n the NFL. He had a chance to catch the ball at its highest point but instead he waited on the ball to come to him. Will someone plz explain to me Dye’s reason for being in the lineup after proven he’s not NFL material. Speeding with no hands will certainly result to a fatality. Plz get rid of Dye, MJenkins, Conte,MWright,Banks,n GJohnson. Also plz do not let Martin go n think Sims is the answer. Sims does too much stutter stepping instead of hitting the hole. Yes he had a long run but he’s had holes in multiple games with opportunities for big runs but again his stutter steps holds him back. Finally, my worry is sooner or later our OL will b the cause of a serious injury to Winston.

    Trade ASJ

But we won’t Lovie likes him

Just like Dye ( who sucks)

    Jennings.

Saving him for a Glennon /ASJ Trade. Nice package deal ready to go.

Am I wrong or does every game ASJ scores a TD in mean one more for the loss column.
