Lavonte David Says He Expects To Play Sunday

December 11th, 2015

LavonteDavidExhale, Bucs fans.

Lavonte David tweaked an ankle in practice this week, sat out a bit, but moments ago said he expects to be balling Sunday against the Saints. Joe’s got the news per the Twittering of Buccaneers official in-house reporter Scott Smith.

Great news!

Now how exactly the Bucs fill in for starting middle linebacker Kwon Alexander, lost for the regular season with a PED suspension, is another story.

Joe’s not even going to pretend to have a clue based on what the Bucs were doing in practice this week. Lovie Smith loves to play games. We’ll see who lines up when Drew Brees heads to the huddle.

We would be in serious trouble without both kwon and LD. But if LD plays he will step and make the extra plays to make up for Kwon. We will survive this week to go 7-6

Bruce Carter will fill in for Kwon. Carter has been starter and will do very well.

The Bucs must sweep the Saints into yesterdays trash. Show them who’s boss! 4-1 in the division with a win. New Orleans can replace the Bucs as the perpetual NFC South cellar dweller, revenge is sweet. Go Bucs!!!

Danny Lansanah is actually taking Alexanders place playing MIKE. Bruce Carter will take Lansanah’s spot which means 25 to 30 snaps. Carter played SLB last year with the Cowboys. Lansanah told Tom Krasniqi of 620 WDAE that he’ll be the one to take over Alexander’s job until he returns. He has been quite this year compared to last year and with the reduction of snap counts so Alterraun Verner can play nickle. He has been limited to a strong side role only, coming off the field on passing downs. Lansanah played MIKE last year, mostly on passing downs. Lansanah played well last week against the Falcons and had a critical stop. I think he will step up in the role of MIKE and perform very well.

I hope LVD doesn’t try to do too much. I think the concensus regarding his early season struggles was that he was doing just that, trying to do too much to cover for his buddy Kwon. I hope Lavonte executes his role in the defense on Sunday regardless of who is playing in the middle. The defense is predicated on professionals knowing their assignment and having the discipline to be there and execute.
