“Jameis Is Cool”
December 15th, 2015The man who rubbed elbows with America’s Quarterback, Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston, at Publix Sunday night has been unearthed.
Paul Guzzo and Olivia Stacey of TBO.com found the friendly grocery shopper, Rory Lawrence, who spotted Jameis in a local Publix as the franchise leader was heading home from the Den of Depression Sunday night.
(Joe thinks it is cool that Jameis is like all of us; he stops at Publix on the way home from work).
Lawrence is a hardcore Bucs fans and was just excited that Jameis posed briefly to have their picture taken. Lawrence is emphatic that he had no idea of how the picture would go viral, and he seems distraught that do-gooders and self-appointed moralists twisted this act of kindness into part of their sad narrative in the War on Jameis.
“I mainly want to let everyone know that Jameis is cool and I didn’t know that this thing would go viral like it did and to let him know that I apologize,” said Lawrence, founder of the Tampa Bay Theatre Festival.“I think that he thought that I was trying to sneak a picture, but I literally was texting my wife,” Lawrence said in a text message to The Tampa Tribune. “So when I looked back up, he nicely said, ‘If you want to take a picture it’s cool.’ He then invited me over to take a picture.
“I just think that it was cool of him to take the time to take the picture after the loss of a very important game,” Lawrence said. “Most players would have probably been in a bad mood and not want to deal with fans at that time and rightfully so. But he took the time to take a picture with me and several other fans and was patient and gracious.”
You see: Jameis is a man of the people. Despite pocketing some $26 million eight months ago, he still shops for himself, after work no less. And he’s chats up total strangers unlike some NFL players who believe they are above everyone.
Props to Jameis!

reminds me of when I ran into vjax at the tax collectors office…it was early in the morning over the summer and I was with my kids getting my business license renewed…I saw this tall man walk in grab a number and sit right next to me…im busy looking at a honey do list txt from my wife when my 2 boys got up and stood slightly to the right of me…the man next to me said, “whats up young fellas” and I quickly said, “sit down” without even looking at the guy next to me…then the guy says, “its ok, they’re fine”…I looked up to see who was speaking and there he was mr. vjax himself…a huge smile came across my face along with my kids and we all took a selfie…while waiting I asked vjax how was he feeling, how the team looked and his flight experience he had at mcdill base…we had a great conversation…very intelligent man…I could tell even if he did not become a football player he would still be very successful…my favorite buc player on this roster…wish you well vjax and j boogie…GO BUCS!!!

Speaking for Pablo
“Pablo wishes Pablo’s fans would take pictures with him…..but as you know, Pablo table dances and folks just don’t want to be photographed with Pablo and his elongated arc (Same condition as Hamus)….Pablo understands….but Pablo envies Hamus”

“Hamus”
I still laugh every time.
Hey Joe, can suspended players be with teammates after work? Hope Kwon is hanging out at Jameis’ place. I like that the young players are bonding together outside of OBP.

@ Love and Warrick Dunn
I’m almost positive they can hang out and do whatever they want, as long as it isn’t on team grounds. Anything official with the team is off limits. I don’t think there’s really any way the NFL could regulate what a player does beyond that.
